I was initially seen at Ventura County Pharmacy because it was conveniently across the street from where I worked . However, they never had my medication so I decided to switch to The Medicine Shoppe and they have been great. They always have my medication and they are quick! They are also conveniently located near Grocery Outlet, UPS, and a donut shop. This is a win for me so I can do other errands when picking up my meds. Overall, clean, excellent service. read more

My physician's office called in my prescription. After waiting a week and no response, I finally called the Medicine Shop to try and track down the prescription. The young lady said they had it but they didn't fill it because they didn't have my insurance info. I asked couldn't they have called me? She said well... that's the reason. So I asked could I give her my insurance info now, and she said sure. Put me on hold and of course we were disconnected. After 8 -10 minutes, I called them back and said my call had been dropped. Someone else answered and "I think they're working on it. Just a minute." The first young lady came back after a couple of minutes and said "we don't take that insurance". I then asked about the secondary? She said we take that one... but that's not your primary. So we can't fill it." Medicare and Tricare 4 Life and they can't be bothered! Oh well!! read more

I LOVE THIS PHARMACY! Superior customer service and they really care about their customers. It's like going back 30 years. They answer their phone right away and there is never a wait for pickup. My family and I have been using The Medicine Shoppe for over 30 years. I took a 7 year break while I lived out of state but they remembered me as soon as I walked back in the door. They always fill my prescriptions quickly and handle any insurance issues right then and there. They had to call my insurance to see what allergy eye drop they would cover and took care of the logistics of getting my provider to sign off on the change all while I waited (20 minutes). I'm treated like a person, not a number! They value my business and are always so sweet. Their store isn't stocked with a bunch of items since they are next to a grocery store but they have some essentials. I recommend going here if you want great, personalized customer service. read more

They lied to my disabled client on the phone! The meds delivery never showed up, i was in the living room with the door and windows wide open waiting. Now my clients feels bad like it was their fault. How terrible! read more

I've never had a need for a regular pharmacy until recently and thought I'd give this place a try since it's conveniently located a couple blocks away from my home. At first glance it looks like it's going out of business. Shelves against the walls with very little inventory. Old dusty smell. Not set up like a pharmacy that I'm accustomed to. I proceed to walk to the counter and met by a trio of teen girls doing what teens do best...gossiping. One makes a face at the other and walks away. The other asks "can I help you" in a not helpful tone. I get my prescriptions and told to sign...ok...I wait for her to give me something to sign. Nope instead I get an annoyed sigh followed by a finger pointing to an electronic tablet. Clearly it's been awhile since I've had to pick up meds. Overall I wasn't impressed with the pharmacy or its customer service. Thinking driving a few extra miles to another pharmacy is worth it. read more

The staff here is fantastic. They follow up. They check up. Recently my doctors office messed up and called into the wrong location. This location (Telephone) took care of transferring the order for me. When my prescriptions need refill they handle all of it for me. Not only do I fill prescriptions here, any OTC meds etc that I need I make sure to buy here. Prices are also incredible. read more

The staff at this pharmacy are fantastic! This includes the pharmacists. They are courteous and friendly. My doctor is old fashioned and only takes hand faxed requests for refills. The staff are really good about this. Would highly recommend! read more

I tried to call them to see if a prescription was called in by my doctor and their recording options are just to leave a message. Thats it. No option to speak to a person whats so ever. Then you can hear the girl at the end complain(thinking she is off recording) Most Unprofessional phone transaction ever and definitely medically irresponsible. So i did still decide to leave a message to please call me to answer my question of ,"If my doctor called in a important medication for me at this pharmacy? "(because my doctor is not in to ask him.Guess what? No response,NO call back....BIG SURPRISE.!! read more

I have finally had it with this pharmacy. I just transferred my prescriptions to CVS, which is closer to me, anyway. The last straw was when I had a prescription filled last week. I paid in cash, and as I drove away, I realized that the young woman shorted me a dollar in my change. I drove back and told her so. She just sat there and glared at me! She did not apologize or offer to give me my dollar; she just gave me a dirty look. I couldn't believe the poor customer service. Finally I said, "I wouldn't have come back if I was lying." An elderly man at the counter laughed at my comment. She continued to glare at me with a frown, and finally she said, "Okay, I'll give you your dollar!" And with that she opened the register and gave me a dollar bill. I couldn't believe how rude she was. She never apologized. That pharmacy gets a lot of older customers, and I wonder if she was scamming the change and pocketing it, hoping that customers wouldn't notice, and she got mad that I noticed. That incident made me feel like I don't ever want to go back there, so I switched pharmacies. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

The Medicine Shoppe is the true definition of a small town neighborhood pharmacy. I can only speak for the Med Shoppe on Telephone Rd in Ventura and Saviers Rd in Oxnard as to the quality of service they provide their customers. I have personally and professionally used The Medicine Shoppe in Ventura for over 10 years and I wouldn't dream of switching. Not only do they help you call/fax the doctor for refills when you are low on meds, they will provide loaner meds within the confines of the law, they deliver meds, they bubble pack, and they really do anything they can to ensure their customers are happy. The staff are very friendly and helpful even to the point of providing resources on how to get certain meds covered through insurance or at least discounted to ease the pain of high medication costs. They are innovative in the way they are bubble packing meds for some customers now. They bubble packs have pictures of the customer, labels that are easy to read and don't cause confusion, and they go out of their way to make sure the customer is satisfied. read more
