This was my third time gave a meal from Memphis Bbq. I had the burnt ends and a side of beans! The burnt ends are delicious. The have a great bark on them with just the right amount of smoke. The beans are cooked to perfection with a nice tang to them. My daughter had "piggy fries" which I had to taste. Nicely seasoned fries with pulled pork and Mac and cheese on top. The next time I grab some bbq I am going to force myself to try something else. This is a place that is definitely worth the trip across town. Their macaroni and cheese is to DIE for, I've never had anything like it, the word amazing doesn't do it justice. They Screwed up my order. Order 2 Pulled Pork Extra Large Sandwiches, one without coleslaw, one with a side of Mac & Cheese and one with a side of Baked Beans. Both with 12 oz Drink. -Both Sandwiches had Coleslaw -Side of Mac & Cheese was billed separately at $14, rather than as the side for the meal. -Charged $4 (premium) for the side of Baked Beans and the soda and did not deliver it. Called the restaurant, and explained that it was screwed up. I was told that because we had accepted the delivery from the driver, that there was nothing we could do, and that we were stuck with the extra charges. They would not refund the excessive charges, that should have been included with the order. Menu states: XLG Sandwich + Extra Sauce = $12 Sm Side and 12 oz Drink = $4 Charged: Sandwich + Sauce = $12, Side = $4, and Drink = $2. (for first order) Sandwich + Sauce = $12, Side = $14, and Drink = $2 (for Second Order) Should have been charged a total of $32 +Tax and Delivery Fee Was charged $46 +tax and Delivery Fee I recommend not ordering from this place, as they do not seem to care about the customer experience, or care enough to make sure the order was right. They promised to deliver my baked beans on the next order, which is B.S. because I was charged baked beans today and it was not delivered to me. Also $14 for the side is insane. Thanks Yelp for helping me find this little bbq flavored gem in Schenectady. The place is small with just a few picnic style tables inside and out with a TV in the corner playing music. Cosmetics aside the family that runs the place was very friendly and happy to answer questions about the dishes. Price was very reasonable. Lunch for the four members of my family was 46$. That's practically in line with fast food offerings. The food was very good. We had bbq chicken wings, fried chicken, pulled pork sandwiches, kettle chips and baked beans with drinks. The food here is really great. I got 1/4 lb Pork & 1/4 lb Brisket. Both good, but the Brisket was soooo good. Came with home made house fries, beans, and cornbread. Although I went without my kids, I think they'll love the cornbread and the meats served without sauce so they can have it plain or any sauce of their choice. An excellent price for the service and quality of the food. The meals we ordered came with chicken and pork. We also tried the coleslaw, Mac salad, baked beans and collard greens. All of them were amazing. I could not choose one that I liked more than the others. The combos have large serving sizes. My wife and I could have easily shared a combo #2. Memphis King's sauces are all delicious and there are roughly 6 or 7 to choose from. The restaurant itself is just right for the joint. There is space to sit inside and outside. Total bill: $29.00. Brought it home and fell in love with this food. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. And, the pieces were huge! The pulled pork and brisket were moist and flavorful and the sauce they gave on the side was delicious! Mac and cheese was homemade and delicious as well. The cornbread was different than any I had before. Heavier and darker, and the best I've ever had. They close at 6:00, or when they run out. You can order early in the day and they'll save you some. The food is so good here. The ribs are so much better than Dinosaur BBQ as they just fall off the bone. The collard greens are cooked with chicken and you can tell the difference. The fried chicken is so good. Even the meat inside is juicy and the skin is perfect. The only thing not so great is the sun tea which tastes a lot like water. In the 4 years I lived in Schenectady, I've had just about everything they offer. I usually get the 2 meat or 3 meat combo with brisket, pulled pork or ribs. Their chicken is also delicious but when visiting a bbq place, I just have to get ribs or brisket. The best side by far for me is the Mac and Cheese. Holy macaroni do they know how to make some good food. The other side dishes are just okay and the cornbread is above average. Great food for reasonable prices (on the cheaper side)! Just discovered this little gem though apparently it's been open awhile and is 1 minute from our home. Tonight was the second time we have ordered there and both times we were equally impressed. The kettle chips are my new favorite thing in the world and the Mac & cheese is delicious. The first time we had the pork and this time the chicken. One of the detractors of good eats often times is location. I think a lot of folks taking the cruise down Van Vranken Ave. might feel a little jittery if they are used to sleep inducing suburbia in Delmar or the wanna-be pretense of chainstore Clifton Park.. A word to these folks, most of the better bbq places are in these types of less than savory neighborhoods...and they also generate enough volume from folks who couldn't care less about the neighborhood (see Ferrari's in Bellevue). That being said..the locals who started Memphis King have really studied the craft...this is an artform if it's done right. It's pretty clear these folks learned well and have attempted to recreate something that is a tribute to their southern brethren.
