I ordered ribs this time (@ 5:45p,) and I was told they weren't ready yet,) so I ordered the brisket. The beans i ordered were served hot. The brisket wasn't. I was pressed for time and didn't send my food back to the kitchen. The staff was friendly, and companion's pulled pork sandwich was tasty - served on a large bun. Finally got a chance to try out this barbecue place and was not disappointed! Limited seating but wasn't crowded for our late working lunch. Service was great and fast, very nice group of people running the show today! Ordered a combo platter with brisket, smoked cheddar sausage, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad and corn bread. Was very happy with everything. We also had wings, pulled pork, the buffalo Mac and cheese, and other sandwiches at the table along with the fried pickles. It was all very well received by everyone. Came here on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. It wasn't busy but that's ok it allowed for me to receive my food quickly and be on my way. They had the Original Rocky movie playing on the TV so this place had to be good right? It was! It was delicious. The interior itself is set up for eating BBQ that's all you can ask for! I had various menu items which were all delicious. The BBQ sauce was great as well and everything hit the spot! They make some solid BBQ here. My only complaint was my S'mores cheesecake had soft graham cracker on top. I would have liked it to be crunchy to add to the S'mores experience but regardless it was still great. read more

I went to Miller's, ordered my food, and sat down to wait. When the food came out, I simply asked if there was any silverware. The guy who brought it made a snide comment about plastic utensils, then angrily walked a few steps, grabbed a pack, and tossed it onto my table from several feet away. That level of rudeness over a basic question is ridiculous. I don't need that kind of attitude with my meal. Not going back. read more

Not 'just another bbq place' I had the brisket cheese steak sandwich. It is not only a large portion but one of the best brisket sandwiches I have ever had, anywhere. The brisket is properly smoked, where the smoke is a flavor, not THE flavor. It is properly seasoned and super tender but not mush. And the peppers and onions are so well flavored they stand on their own. I have only one 'complaint' and that is it is so far away from me! Stopped midway on a bike ride at this spot and we were rewarded with a warm welcome from the owners and some smokin' good barbecue. We tried the pulled pork sandwich with fries and loaded it up with their traditional sauce and it was really good. The brisket dinner platter with sides of baked beans and mac and cheese was top notch--really enjoyed the burnt ends, tender and sweet. Loved the mac with a little of their homemade mustard sauce added on top. The vinegar sauce was bright and brought us back to the flavors of NC. These guys have some impressive credentials on the competitive BBQ circuit and you gotta love a business founded by brothers with a shared passion for great food. Miller's has breathed life back into the old Pig Pit in Cohoes. I think they might do more of a takeout business but there is plenty of comfortable booth seating inside. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to your table in a matter of minutes. The meat was smokey and tender without being overbearing. I got a combo with pulled pork and ribs. The menu board said it came with 2 sides but they have now upgraded it to 3 with lots to choose from and no up charges like some places. Plus we got a free slice of misseskisses cheesecake for spending $50. The ribs fell right off the bone. The mac & cheese was exactly what you would expect to find at your family's cookout. I'm pretty picky when it comes to onion rings and usually stay away from the beer battered style because I think they are bland. These were much better than I anticipated due in part to the delicious dipping sauce that came with them. They had 3 bbq sauces on the table to choose from; regular, mustard, and vinegar. I only tried the regular. It tasted noticeably sweeter than other places almost like a honey bbq. I also tried the cheddar sausage which was awesome! I totally forgot that they do $1 wings as well so I will definitely have to go back to try them. read more

Decided on bbq for dinner. Split a combo plate with SO. Got ribs and brisket with 3 sides. Asked for 2 Mac and cheese and a bbq bean. The food was pretty good overall. The ribs are tasty and tender. Brisket was moist and tender as well. Sides were all good. Not as smoked as other places but no complaints. It's one of the better bbq places around here. I do prefer a different place in a different town but this place is much closer to me. The guy working behind the counter was very friendly. The 2 bbq sauces included were tasty. I've seen Miller's from the road and never seemed to stop. Since I was in the mood for a little BBQ, I pulled up the menu and SO and I decided to give it a try. We ordered a 2-meat platter. It came with 3 small sides and a 2 slices of corn bread. We selected ribs and brisket for our meats. The Mac and cheese was respectable, corn bread moist and tasty, beans had a dash of bbq sauce. Not a true baked bean, not my favorite but was OK. Meat was moist; we got 6 ribs and 1/2 lb brisket plus two sample sizes of two different sauce flavors. Service was quick and easy, parking plentiful, interior was bright. TV is on the wall, multiple booths if you want to order in. I think it was worth a try and there are many things I have yet to try. Replacing the old Pig Pit BBQ, I decided to give Miller's Backyard BBQ a try. With that known, I ordered the ribs and brisket with fries and macaroni and cheese. To start, the fries were fine. They were crispy, but pretty generic. After that, I sampled the macaroni and cheese which was average. To explain, the noodles were enjoyable, but there was hardly any cheese on them. Next, I moved onto the brisket which was decent. To elaborate, the fatty parts of the brisket had a lot of flavor, but the middle of the brisket was dry. On the other hand, the absolute MVP of this meal was the ribs. To put into words, the ribs were tender, juicy, and had tons of flavor. In addition, the bbq sauce was excellent. It was sweet, tangy, and elevated the ribs to another level. These were some of the best ribs I've had. In conclusion, Miller's Backyard BBQ has room to improve, but their top notch ribs save this review. read more

Millers Backyard BBQ opened recently in the former Tex's Pig Pit spot on Dyke Ave near 787. They serve up a variety of smoked BBQ meats, sandwiches, homemade sides, fried foods, mac & cheese bowls, desserts, and cold drinks. Like before, the place is order at the counter and there is a small seating area too. There is also outdoor seating during the warmer season. I stopped by Miller's recently for takeout. They had a promotion going on offering a free small brisket chili with purchase of sandwich plate or dinner. I ordered the 8 oz Pulled Pork Dinner ($15 plus tax) with one side (chose mac & cheese) and corn bread with the free chili. My food was packed and ready in 5 minutes. I actually ate my takeout food outside since it was sunny. The pulled pork was very tender and lean, dipping into the original BBQ sauce provided. The brisket chili was very hearty with sour cream and oyster crackers provided. The very small cup of Mac & cheese had soft cooked shell pasta with a rich cheesy flavor. The corn bread was not too sweet and moist. Overall, the food I ordered was pretty good. read more

Ordered the thanksgiving meal package and it was awesome! Being almost 9 months pregnant, I needed a break from cooking this year. Millers did an amazing job and everything was delicious. The turkey was perfectly cooked. Everyone loved the sweet potato soufflé. I must add that the dinner rolls were so freaking good and I was very impressed that they included a sweet butter. I ordered food on line & picked it up. I live about 20 min away it was 4 meat platter with 3 sides. When I got home I was missing sides. When I called to tell them they first stated they definitely gave me ALL the sides but also stated I would get a refund. 10 minutes later a man called stating their cameras saw the woman adding my sides to the bag. I would not lie over a $5 side!! And the fact that was even a thing really left a bad taste in my mouth. I've ordered from here before and never had a problem. I'm not understanding why it would even be a thing after it was a $65 order!! I was offered to come and pick up $10. But since I'm being accused of lying over it I'm not interested. The food is just always in point! A lot of times you can get good barbecue and the sides are bland or good sides, and the meat is bland but here flavor is just always so good! So tonight we gave Miller's a try. We ordered two of the two meat platters with sides in hopes of sampling lots of different things. Every item, minus the ribs, were extremely disappointing. The brisket was fatty, the pulled pork and Mac and cheese flavorless. The fries were very soft and undercooked while the fried pickles had the consistency of plastic. I called and spoke with the owner, offering to return all of the food, minutes one bite out of each item we ordered.
