Was able to visit Druthers Harborside for lunch with a friend recently. We did not have a reservation but were seated very quickly. All the ladies on staff that day were extremely kind and attentive. My friend and I ordered the Strawberry Fields salad and the Mediterranean grains salad. Both salads were very good. My only complaint would be that the crispy chick peas tasted like very old frier oil. I would not only suggest that they change their frier oil because I imagine everything fried on the menu must also taste like old oil but also that they just opt to roast their chick peas instead of having them taste greasy. It was one of those "don't feel like cooking tonight" kind of nights and so we zipped over and were given a table in the bar area near the shiny brewery tanks. It was surprisingly quiet, almost cozy in this section and the wait staff was super welcoming. I chose to get the boneless chicken wings with sauce on the side and those tender nuggets were enormous, tender, and very well seasoned. We had leftovers and made a pretty delicious chicken sandwich the next day. Hubby's burger was overflowing with toppings and the oozy egg was the crowning glory. Beers were delish. Every Druthers is different enough to be distinct, and I like some better than others, with this one now at the top of the "like" list. The current beer list also features a Mexican chocolate infused stout, something I'll always try if it's on a menu, and also something I really enjoyed. I've always loved Druthers, but my recent visit to the Schenectady location left me seriously disappointed. My girlfriend and I went last week after work, and we were told was the first day of the new menu. Somehow, we walked out having paid $100 for three small appetizers and three drink. Nothing we had felt remotely worth the price. The Bavarian pretzels were fine. Nothing to write home about, but decent enough. Then came the Mexican street corn dip, which the menu described as "charred local corn." Naturally, I expected something warm and grilled, like actual street corn. Instead, it looked and tasted like canned corn dumped into a tiny bowl, topped with a sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese, some seasoning, and a few chips haphazardly thrown around the plate. That alone was $16, which is laughable for what we got. But the real offense was the waffle fry nachos. The menu made them sound amazing: guajillo chile-marinated strip steak, house queso, pico, pickled shallots, jalapeño ranch, and avocado crema. What we got was a pile of undercooked but somehow over-crisped waffle fries, maybe a half cup of steak, and a drowning mess of jalapeño ranch and avocado crema. It was so over-sauced that eating it felt more like drinking a bottle of avocado ranch. Nineteen dollars for that. Service didn't help either, we waited almost 20 minutes in an almost empty restaurant before our server even came to the table to place our drink order, and when the beers finally arrived, they were barely colder than room temperature. I want to give the benefit of the doubt since it was the first day of the new menu, and I truly do love Druthers as a brand. But this experience at the Schenectady location was awful, and it'll be a long time before I go back there. read more

Food and ambiance are pretty good - service and prices are not. We were driving through on a road trip with our toddler and ordered a few apps and a kids meal. The server made it abundantly clear when we didn't order more food and drinks that she couldn't be bothered with us - for example not bringing us plates, refilling water, not bringing dressing we asked for, cold attitude when politely asked etc. Atmosphere is very cool - right on the river with a nice patio. The smashed poutine and burnt bacon ends were new, and we ordered the beer dip. Oh my. The pretzels that when along with the beer dip were wayyy better than auntie Anne's pretzels. They were like if fried dough and a soft pretzel had a baby. And the dip was delish. For the newer menu items I hope those burnt bacon ends never leave the menu... the sauce was a vibrant color and was a mixture of sweet and spicy. We only had time to have a beer while at this location. The location was a quick walk from the hotel we were staying at. We did have a 20 minute wait to be seated. Outdoor seating was good for walk ups but for indoor seating you need to be added to a waitlist. I had the key lime sour. The atmosphere here is great. It's right on the Mohawk harbor and walking distance to Rivers casino. We came for a quick drink but decided to order food too. The beers are OK and the food is ok. We didn't love the appetizer choices... lots of dips and lots of cheese. So if you're lactose intolerant this menu is not for you. Both the monkey bread and street corn dip were fine. Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday with a group of friends before I headed to the train station to go back to the city. There seems to be a lot of new breweries popping up left and right in the area, and this business seems to be doing well with three locations, although I've never heard of them until now. I ordered their darkest beer that they had to offer, which was the Irish Stout ($7). Flavorful and rich in flavor as expected for a stout. Unfortunately it was the only stout they had to offer at the time. So what do you do? You order the same drink a second time. For appetizers, we got an order of the Beer Cheese Dip ($13), which are Bavarian style pretzels and comes with a druthers 7-cheese blend dip. These things are amazing and I could eat these all day. For entree, I ordered the Loaded Mac ($16), which consisted of bacon, smoked chicken, drizzled with BBQ sauce and ranch. I honestly did not need a full size and could have been fine with just a side portion as it is such a carb heavy meal. I definitely had leftovers, which were still just as good as it was served in the skillet. Besides food and drinks, service is fantastic. Super attentive and friendly. Went about a month ago with my husband. Food was great. I love the house made veggie burger. We had great service. We rarely go out these days. However the other day it was freezing out and we were starving after shopping. We had our two kids with us. I said let's go back to Druthers bc it was so good the other week! Unfortunately this time around the waitress was pretty cold. They were not busy. But people have off days. My daughter's water tastes like sour mix. So we got her a vanilla shake which she enjoyed. Everyone got different mac and cheese and i got the Thanksgiving rolls. Which I saw online they looked amazing. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The restaurant was very slow. All 3 Mac and cheese were less then room temperature. My husbands looked like it had been sitting out it was all hard on top. Not cold but not room temperature. My rolls were almost black and rock hard. However we were all starving. I cracked them open to salvage what was inside of two of the. The gravy was room temperature. If that. We didn't say anything bc honestly we were so tired and cold and hungry. Noone wanted to bring alllllll the leftovers home. But I asked anyways for boxes. The next day I put it in a pan to heat up. I will say it was VERY good when actually hot! I should have said something I know. But I didn't want anything for free. Or compted. We love Druthers! It is a spot we frequent often, whether in Schenectady, Albany, or Clifton park. This was our first time trying the birria quesadilla and it was great! The beer flight is also a great deal if you want to try several of their many good options on tap. The one point off was because we have gotten their mac & cheese many times before and it is always awesome, but for some reason this time it was a lot more liquidy than usual. During a recent Friday lunch we discuss how each of us had never ordered any meal not worth finishing while at Druthers. We have held a handful of work dinners here when we are hosting out of towners, ranging from 4 to 20 people, and it's always a delight. And I love that the menu rotates per season, but always has a few favorite staples. It is the perfect mix of letting me rely on standards for recommendations[Barley Salad! Druthers Burger! Loaded Mac!,] while also giving me new dishes to try when our events are more frequent. I love going to Druthers during the winter, but I am eager to visit in the warm weather and take advantage of the being on the river with outdoor seating. This place was cute, I was visiting my friends in Schenectady and we decided to go out to eat. Upon arrival no one was standing at the hostess stand to greet us and one girl walked by and saw us and kept it pushing, idk if I worked there I'd be like "hey blah blah blah people are at the front" The food was good, I ordered pizza which you can't go wrong with but I would have appreciated whole pieces of basil instead of the cut up basil they threw on the pizza. Where we were seated was weird idk felt a bit racist walking in and through the whole experience. We were the only brown people there but idk the staff was weird. I will probably not come back here. Druthers is one of my favorite local restaurants, a solid go-to. This is their third location and all of them are serving amazing food, beer and atmosphere. I absolutely love this location for the easy parking, patio views of the river and it's also right next to River's Casino. As a fellow Yelper said in another review, the current 3.5 star average for this place is deceptive, Druthers is in fact, fantastic. This visit I tried their newer beer, No Excuses IPA - very good! Its more fruity and hazy than the All In IPA, I loved it! You can't really go wrong with any of their beers. The food here is elevated pub grub and sinful comfort food. There is something for everyone on the menu. Burgers, pizza, wings, salad, mac and cheese, apps, vegetarian, etc! Best Food: BEER CHEESE PRETZELS. I really can't express my undying love for these freakin' pretzels. Here is from their website: "You can't go to Druthers without trying the Beer Cheese Dip.
