Pretty sure I entered another dimension walking into this place. Be prepared to get patted down before you go in. Haven't had that happen in a long time. There was a cover, no big deal. The DJ was mediocre. The bartender was attentive even when it was busy. There was a girl sitting on the bar in a mermaid costume (or was it a costume?). I'm pretty sure Ricken from Severence was in there. Tried to get a pic but something/someone stepped in every time. Very eclectic group of folks. Great for people watching. Came out Mardi Gras weekend and it was slow starting but picked up later (duh). The DJ was all over the place but maybe he was trying to get a vibe from the crowd while it was slow. They have a girl wearing a mermaid bottom half (with a shirt on--no seashell bra) sitting on the bar all night. The bartender was very attentive. Draft beers were all down though. Bad luck for Mardi Gras weekend I guess. They have TWO pool tables (coin operated) and plenty of cues to choose from. As far as "dive" bar, I'd question it. For me a "dive" bar is dark af and someone's licking beer off the floor. I haven't seen anything close to that tonight. Oh and if you're not ok with a full pat-down entering a bar, this is probably not for you (but I'm finding most downtown Biloxi bars do that on the weekends). It's smoke-friendly too. I probably should have just turned around and left when I was the only one in here but I was looking for dinner and didn't want to drive over to Ocean Springs again. Biloxi - at least the parts I saw - is quite closed down for COVID or it's mostly the casinos. Yep, it's a dive bar but they have a food menu. On this Wednesday night, the menu was quite limited. I chose the potstickers and a beer. It was made fresh and the beer was cold, so I can't really complain too much. A decent portion and they were okay. I opted not to stick around for the comedian. Very rarely do I give a 5 stars, but tonight I feel it's warranted. We ordered some to-go food tonight from here and man was it good! The wings were fried hard the way I like them, and the pad Thai was different but definitely not bad! Our food wasn't ready when we arrived so we sat at the bar for a quick drink. Jenn was fabulous, and Farabee was amazing as well. This was the best hospitality we've had since moving to Biloxi. read more

This place is a legit local dive bar, not a tourist trap. It's a no frills kinda place that is pretty much exactly what you'd want and expect in a locals bar in a beach town. They have a great selection of beer and the food is much better than you'd expect. The gumbo was excellent and you have to like any place that includes fried okra on top of their gumbo. The shrimp po boy was tasty as well and came with a LARGE portion of fried okra as a side. I'm a big fried okra fan but even I couldn't finish all of my meal. This place is worth checking out if you're in the area and want to try a legit local place. read more

Not sure why this place is rated so high. We waited at the bar for a while but apparently the bartender was so involved with a personal conversation we couldn't be served. Another "Yelp find" gem. We wanted a laid-back dinner with work associates and traveled off the strip. The Mermaid Dive bar did not disappoint. From the moment you walk in, dimly lit with jellyfish chandeliers, 80's & 90's classics blaring out and all the SEC games for us to watch. Our waitress kept the ice cold and made some great recommendations for dinner. We had the: Gumbo Christmas dip Brisket nachos And several poboys. Of note the meats are smoked on Green Eggs and the gumbo was fresh with a hint of crunch from fried okra. We met Farabee and tried her Farabee shot ... the house speciality; very good. It's a smoking friendly bar, which unfortunately doesn't air out much, so there's an air of smoke to the place. But all in all, I'd go back. So the food was great, but it's not the place for a first date if you are trying to impress your date. The atmosphere is not so appealing but the nachos were so good. Went on a Saturday and the crowd was nonexistent and the service was great. Ordered nachos and shrimp and grits to share with my date and discovered the shrimp and grits had bacon in them and it wasn't listed on the menu. I don't eat pork, but if you do this dish was good. If I am in the area and want nachos, I would definitely go back. If you aren't looking for any fancy but fair prices, good service and average food, then I would say try it. read more

The service was great, prices were reasonable and the owner even came over to check on us (I personally love meeting and chatting with the owners, such a personal touch). My mom, who is difficult to please, was impressed with the blackened shrimp tacos, which comes with homemade tortilla chips. I had the chicken salad plate, which was also excellent, but the surprise highlight was the homemade hummus and toasted pita wedges. We will definitely be back. Do not miss this gem! I'm sitting here now on a Friday night after sitting in my hotel room for a bit and realizing I needed to get out and enjoy some of the local spots. And I really wanted a beer. Entering the place, it wasn't packed at all. Seats were almost all full, but more than enough standing room to squeeze in another 50 people. A live two-man band was rocking a set and everyone appeared to be having a good time. But it looks like I missed the show because the band was finished only about 5 minutes later, and the DJ began playing classic rock. A few people left once the band finished, but most of the patrons stuck around. People continued flowing in and out throughout my stay. The crowd here appeared to be mostly locals. Was hoping this would be more of a singles bar but it really didn't seem like it was. Bartenders here are pretty chill. Not loud and flamboyant or anything... Just here to serve libations and chit-chat with customers (again, mostly locals/regulars). I had myself a draft Yuengling to start because, well, it's Yuengling. Next up was a Louisiana ale that I didn't catch the name of, but it was good. The art definitely has an "Under the Sea" vibe going on, which adds some whimsy to the place. There are a few bar games here, including a pool table, electronic (plastic tip) dart machine, and Pac-Man. And a digital jukebox in the corner, probably for the non-weekend nights. There are also some TVs showing sports. Smoking is permitted inside, so if you're not a fan of smoke this probably won't be the place for you.
