Lima is going to be a home away from home because of work. When I'm in town I usually ask around for recommendations and the Met always seems to come up. I've been twice now and it hasn't disappointed yet. I had the pulled pork the first time; the chicken noodle soup and mussels the last time. The pulled pork and the soup were both very good. I wasn't too hungry during my last visit so I thought it was a good opportunity to try the mussels. I didn't have high expectations for mussels in Lima, OH but these were decent. I'll probably find something I like more the next time I stop by. read more

This place is good. My daughter got the French-Indian inspired chicken von von. It was excellent. I ordered the Met Tavern burger without a bun and the roasted brussel sprouts. The "medium" hamburger patty was past well done; well black describes it better. The brussel sprouts were great. The waitress had a great personality and was efficient. The atmosphere is very nice. We live to find local restaurants while traveling. My husband and I both had the Chicken Marsala and it was delicious. Overheard some of the history and the hanging doors in the room we dined in was original doors from the building that used to be a hotel. It was really cool seeing how they up cycled items like the doors and the old heaters. Definitely recommend! read more

The food is a good quality but the service is inconsistent. On Tuesday afternoon Destiny provided excellent service for lunch. She was attentive , friendly and served our food hot. I so enjoyed the Mediterranean salad with blackened salmon that we came back for dinner on Wednesday night. The place was crowded, our server had 4 tables initially and she paid more attention to the other guests than us. Our Sinfully Fries were luke warm; Destiny had served them hot at lunch. At $14.95 the fries were not worth the money or calories if not served hot. Then my salad was served without the pita bread as pictured. I had to ask for the bread and then it was served cold instead of grill and hot with toasted edges. I left a 15% gratuity even though it was not earned. I was skeptical when I saw The Met's hours. Who closes a bar at 9 p.m.? But it makes sense in a way. You go there to have drinks, eat a bite and make friends. You don't go to get drunk. Many people think of The Met as a wine bar. It really isn't. It's better thought of as a craft beer dispensary ($8 flights, and I get to pick the four beers I sample). As for the wines, you pick the varietal but not the brand; that changes based on availability. So if you're a wine fanatic, this isn't the place for you. The food is good, and I don't mind paying for quality. But it's a tad overpriced, with the exception of sliders. The crab dip is a bit watery for my tastes, but the flavor is good and the bread on the side is phenomenal. The scallops over risotto is delicious if you're looking to splurge, as is the gnocchi Alfredo. The beef medallions are a waste of money: They're tasty but too meager for the $15 price tag. As for desserts, the only one I enjoyed was the insanely delicious mousse, although the container in which it's served makes savoring the final tiny crumbs of cookie impossible. Bummertown. Another improvement that could be made: Have a hostess guide patrons to seating. I understand most bars don't have this feature, but it's warranted because of The Met's upscale atmosphere, the fact most people will be enjoying food and the limited space available. read more

Came here on a Saturday night around 6:30 and got seated right away. We ordered drinks from the bar in which they have a full bar and a good wine and beer selection. The drinks came out within a descent time. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We ordered spinach artichoke dip and stuffed jalapeños for appetizers. The artichoke dip did not disappoint and I was told the jalapeños were good as well. After our appetizers we ordered our food and I was a little disappointed because they had advertised an octoberfest menu online without a start date and when I asked the waitress she said it didn't start until the next week. Oh well no beer cheese soup for me:. So I settled for a spinach bacon salad and tomato soup. My family members ordered:hamburger with egg, scallops, mussels, and salmon. Everyone was pretty happy with their orders except the scallops. My dislikes: The scallops were reason for the whole night to be disappointing. She got 4 tiny scallops on a bed of rice for $25.00. Talk about ridiculous!! Someone else ordered mussels for $14.00 and had a plate full of them. The scallops were not worth the money. Were they good yes but for $25.00 I think they could have afforded to put at least 4-5 more especially with how small they were. The other disappointment was how long we had to wait to get our food. We got there by 6:30 and didn't leave until almost 9. It took almost an hour to get our food. The waitress kept apologizing as it wasn't her fault. I wanted to really love this place. Sorry. The home of the most expensive 3 oz burger. The patty was a micro patty. Look at my pictures, a whole bunch of bun. Maybe it is a bun burger. On top of that, I ordered egg on top - no egg and extra bacon - I got nasty bacon bits. The bacon bits were hard as a rock. When questioned about these items, the sever just said really? Like I was joking or something. Sad, the setting is nice and the location perfect. I suppose they have to live up to Lima standards, which means the bar is set really low. read more

I saw the menu and was so excited to try it and when I got to the restaurant I wasn't offered a drink menu which is ok if we were close to any screens showcasing drinks. But that wasn't the case. We ordered our drinks and waited and waited. Again the menu looks very exciting and sounds awesome. When we ordered, we ordered a burger with peanut butter and bacon which sounded awesome. Got it completely wrong when the food finally arrived so we waited to ask if we can substitute to try and remake the requested item. Waited and waited for peanut butter on bread... Upon receiving our receipts we were up charged for the eggs that were on the correct burger we even asked for the jalapeños to be on the side and didn't even receive any. I looked these guys up on yelp and thought I would give them a try. I saw a picture of some burger on their review and asked what that was but apparently it was a seasonal burger. I ended up getting their deluxe burger - with the egg and bacon - and I have to say that I think it was the best burger I've ever eaten. Visiting Lima this week with my senior parents, who are very discerning diners, we tried a number of restaurants in the area. We were very happy with all of them. However, our last dinner during our trip ended up to be the shining star of them all. The Met on N. Main! Because we were going to be eating there on a Friday evening, I actually went in to the restaurant midday Friday to request a reservation. I was told that it shouldn't be a problem since they had expanded their seating options recently. We arrived at 6:30. The place was packed! Yet we managed to get exactly the table that I'd hoped for, in the dining area under the artsy hanging door faux ceiling. Our server Leanna was wonderful. She was friendly and responsive the entire meal. No easy feat with the 3 of us as we each asked a lot of questions about the restaurant, the menu, the crowd. Started with fried cauliflower. Delicious. The cauliflower maintained a fresh taste under the batter coating. The dipping sauce was great, too. Dad got clam chowder. He loved it. Smokey flavor, loaded with clams, potatoes, celery, and cream. Mom got the mussels entree. The sauce was wine and butter, with garlic and crushed red pepper. A little heavy on the butter, but they were divine nontheless. Dad dined on filet with smashed potatoes and fresh green beans. He declared it all delicious. We all tried the potatoes. Butter, butter, and more butter. At the server's suggestion, I had the spicy shrimp tacos. Who could imagine that two tacos could be so full of flavor and so filling as an entree? I wanted something with a kick, and I got it. It seems as though chef 'buttered' the inside of the tortillas with sriracha hot sauce. While we were all clearly satiated with the above food items as starters and mains go, we took our server's suggestion and ordered one bread pudding to share. The bread pudding at the Met is made with donuts from the local Mello Kreme donut shop. Random concept...yet so incredible. With a buttery creme sauce on the plate and some straightforward vanilla ice cream as accompaniment, this bread pudding was the bomb. And I don't even like dessert. The space is impressive. The team of chefs, all women the night that we dined, was all visible behind the open kitchen serving area. They seemed a happy, collaborative, and highly efficient bunch. Most promising of all was the crowd. As visitors (and my father as a Lima native who left the city 65 years ago), we were looking for signs of successful renaissance of this city that could use some TLC. The Met is one such sign. Diners young and old of all backgrounds came flowing through the doors for the entire 2.5 hours that we were there. There was a great vibe the entire time. Hats off to Chief of Operations (do I have the title right?) Casey and the wonderful crew at The Met. It is places like this restaurant that become the hub for urban revival. Went to The Met tonight for our anniversary and service was good but food was awful. Got the steak of the month, New York Strip, let's just say our food came less than Luke warm and the steak was chewy grissel and fat. My husbands Run Chicken Run was well the chick ran cause I'd be surprised if it included 4 oz of chicken on it. I don't mind spending $72.00 for a good meal but it was the worse experience I've had in Lima. I will stick with Ol City Prime we're I know the food is great every time. read more

This is our go-to spot for date night. The decor is really neat. They have a nice bar and a wine rack with those old-school library ladders that you can swing from one end of the bookshelf to the other. Lots of beer and wine selections. They have nice seasonal cocktails as well. The dining area has old repurposed radiators with high top tables resting on it. The menu is simple. We sometimes just get drinks and apps. The kitchen is pretty accommodating. They are willing to make vegetarian modifications on almost any dish. They also make a really yummy quinoa veggie grilled wrap. The flatbreads are great. Our favorite side is the gnocchi. It's pretty filling. It's a classy dressy atmosphere without being stuffy. The staff is pretty friendly although we have had an instance when we have had to ask who our server was because no one came to take our drink orders. read more

Two of us had problems with the bill while the third had a drink and it was cleared from the table before it had been fully consumed. Here's another thing- why can't the total change be given which includes coins? Why give all bills? On a positive note- the food was excellent and the company was great.
