Love this venue. I've been here for a little bit of everything. Rock shows, folk shows, experimental music, A Narragansett event. The Met never disappoints. The Met has a key location. Parking is relatively easy (devote like 5 minutes to driving around and you'll be fine) and the venue itself is easy to find. Really not far at all from Providence, it's great. The entrance they use during events has a deck lined with benches, perfect for the smokers or to get some air in the summer. Inside- two bars on either side make getting drinks easy. I've never ordered a mixed drink here, only beers. The bartenders are friendly though! The stage is kind of small but the layout makes it easy to see from anywhere. There's a little raised portion along with back wall with tables and chairs. It's actually a good size place, too.. I'm not sure the capacity but it holds a good deal of people- perfect show sized crowd. The Met is a genuinely awesome venue. It's now my favorite place to catch a show. It never ever has the shoes-sticking-to-floor problem that Hell or the Living Room had. It's got some art on the wall that has started many a conversation with strangers. The array of music that performs at The Met is vast. I could go on and on, I love it here. read more

I came here for the show not the poor customer service. I came here to see a couple of bands. I had a great time, except for when I got to the bar. I ordered a shot for me and a friend. Having left my purse in the car I only had some cash. I came up $2 short to buy the drinks. I apologized and said its all I have. Maybe I can buy one? The bartender instead of being helpful and suggesting a cheaper drink. Made fun of me in front of the guy I was with embarrassing me even further. Saying "Really? That's sad." I was so mortified thanks to him and his rude and unprofessional attitude. read more

This is such a great place to see a bad. Large enough that you aren't packed but small enough that you feel a part of the show and can see everything perfectly. The drinks aren't too bad price wise. Not far from Providence. The only things making it lose a star, terrible parking, yes its a lot but it's out back and its not the greatest neighborhood at 1am when a show gets out, if it was just me and another girl I'd be sure to leave with the pack so we wouldn't be alone walking to our car. Maybe I'm a wimp but it's not well light. It won't keep me from going back, I'm looking forward to to seeing another show here soon. read more

A great third act for The Met. The former Blackstone was a hodgepodge that was looking for its niche. The room is now a familiar, yet new, space that should do great. Judging from the upcoming calendar, looks like the place is going take off. read more

Great place to listen to music. Very very very rude and disrespectful bartender, Allison. I was having a private conversation with a stranger who asked me my thoughts about President Trump. It was loud at the bar with the sounds of music and chatter from the other patrons. we were having a private conversation, and we were not drunk and loud. Allison came up and told us we had to be quiet. She actually shut us up. When I got up to leave she smiled to see me go. I'm 57 years old and happy to report that I've never been treated with such bigotry in my life. I've never been a bigot but I now have an even bigger heart for those who are treated with such tremendous disrespect and bigotry. I attended a show here and was quite impressed. It was very spacious and I wasn't constantly getting shoved into my neighbor.

First time to see Johnny Winter. A plain large room with some interestingly weird paintings of rock stars on the brick walls. Tables on the back walls of the room on risers let you see the stage. A large dance floor and two bars, although only one was open this night. Reasonably priced beers, with a good selection on tap. Easy parking, friendly crowd, clean bathrooms, good music, and lots of interesting shows lined up. A decent room for live music, we need more places like the Met. read more

Finally a decent mid-sized venue in the Providence area! Went for the first time the other night to see The Hold Steady, and it was definitely a good experience. The sound was great - elevated PA's means that the projection is over the top of the audience rather than buffeting those in the front rows and muffling things for everyone else, so there's good sound even in the back. The room is wider than it is deep, meaning that there are good sight lines from everywhere, and there are some nice elevated seating sections along the back wall. They have a mini-Apsara (Apsara Express?) so there are some munchies available during the show (chicken on a stick! perfect!), and the bars are well-stocked, with a great draft beer selection. So long Bud Light, hello Long Trail! They have some great shows coming up in the next few months from an eclectic group of artists - from folkie Greg Brown to rockin' Ted Leo. It's just over the line in the Bucket, easy to get to, plenty of parking. I'll be back for sure. read more

What a great venue and welcome addition to the Providence scene. Our first experience was a humdinger - Citizen Cope, all acoustic, on form, engaged and not stoned. The space is warm and just the right size to generate a good buzz but still be intimate. Even the view from the back (bar stools) is fine as long as you don't have a pole in front of you. Two bars, good beer, really friendly bar staff and snacks if you want them add up to great overall setting to experience live music the way it should be. It would be great to see some other more mainstream acts like they do at the Narrows in Fall River, but in any case as Arnie was once inclined to say - "I'll be back". read more

I think the met did a good job remodeling the space from when it was the Blackstone. It is more open and has a alto more room to be around the stage area. They always have the best shows around, from Backlash to Itchy fish. One thing that is the same however, is the speed you can get a drink. Even when it was the Blackstone is was always super slow and frustrating to get a drink from the bar. I recently went there for the Itchy Fish show and they only had two bartenders for a busy night. Overall I give the place four starts. If they had servers or more bartenders it would definitely be a 5 star place as far as music venues/ bars go. Keep supporting local music!!! read more

I went to see the Project Object show just last night. The show was phenomenal! The venue itself is terrific, definite cool vibe with great murals on each wall. Exposed brick adds to the ambiance. There really isn't a bad area to be in the place. Parking is no problem either. The reason for my review has to do more with accessibility. I am disabled and need the help of a walk assist piece of equipment which is a bit cumbersome. I emailed the venue & explained my situation. They went above & beyond to accommodate me! They made special arrangements to open the back door so I could enter the venue with ease. This one employee named Sarah made sure she told all the employees to be aware that I would be attending and my need for some assistance. Sarah reserved the perfect table (cool sign displayed on the table with my name!) that was close & a clear view to the stage! After the performance Sarah walked up & introduced herself to me. I was so thrilled to meet the person that made my experience one that will keep me coming back! I HIGHLY recommend The Met for not only a great venue to see great acts, but to their staff (especially Sarah) for their utmost service to every single customer that enters their doors. I know I'll be back and I'm telling everyone about this place! read more

Great spacious music venue! Went there last night to see a friends band play and everyone rocked it. They had seating areas and plenty of room to dance. Looking forward to returning and checking out the bowling alley in the same building. read more

I went here last night to see The Colourist, it wasn't super packed so I was happy that I wasn't squished into a sweaty sea of people, (although my teenage self would have wanted this). I love this venue, it's open and the sound is great. It is housed in an old mill building with wood floors, and a high ceiling with visible ductwork. The bar is huge and my bartender was sweet and super fast. The show moved along quickly and it was on time, didn't have to wait long between sets. Also, the stage is easily visible, which is a plus! I grew up going to concerts at the old Lupo's and Met Cafe and I'm glad the shows here are just as enjoyable. read more

Just based on drinks and the show this place has potential. Great (small) stage and the atmosphere is great too. The stage could be a little taller (I'm short). But my only real complaint is the neighborhood. It's.... 'developing'. Tiny parking lot and restricted parking elsewhere mean you have to park on the street and walk (hopefully not alone). read more

Good venue for music. They do have a few tables on a slightly elevated area, so you can see the band even if you're sitting down. There is a lot of parking available for the Hope Artiste Village, one lot on the side of the building and a huge one down the hill behind it, but because the old mill building is so large, if you're not familiar with it, it can be tricky to find your way to the side door. read more

Great venue, however unfortunately the staff is all from Rhode Island. I bought tickets a month ago to see New Found Glory (!). I was going to leave before they went on stage to go upstairs to Breaktime and say happy birthday to my cousin but apparently there's no re-entry. The guy at the door/bouncer is a jackass. I paid $30 to be trapped listening to a sucky opener. You can go out on the deck for a smoke but can't leave the deck. I asked three employees and a cop, each more lovely than the next. Don't go to The Met for customer service. The bartenders are super rude as well. The Met only gets 1 star for the music. read more

i love this place. Great bands, great beer selection. From max creek to chachi, they bring in talented artists. I even witnessed a rock and roll yard sale there, with bands and a flea market. Only downside is its not in providence, but its so close who cares. read more

Atmosphere alone deserves 5 stars. Coffee is out of this world! But the most important piece to it's assets is the the wonderful service and loving demeanor of the man behind the counter Ryan Watson. As a Aprils fool my daughter brings me to the Met to see one of our favorite performer, except this was no Aprils fool! This place is pretty cool, good space to see a favorite artist perform. It has adequate seating, two bars and outside patio that's designated to smokers. The sound system was good, but since I'm not from around here I'm not sure if this neighborhood was anything I would have wanted my daughter to have come to with out me.Finding a parking space right in the front was welcoming. Make sure you check out the very interesting paintings they have in this venue. There is one of Elvis that has him as a young singer then as he had aged on the same body. Very interesting read more

I absolutely adore the met. It is a supremely amazing place to go see a live show. It is clean (including the bathrooms), they have a pretty kick-ass beer selection at decent prices (for a music venue), it is a stones throw distance from my apartment, and it's big and spacious. I love the artwork on the walls and the fact that there is usually a place to sit and have a beer before you go to the front to see the band. Even if you opt to sit during the set, there is usually a good chance you can still get a view of the band. As a metal head you don't always get to see shows in the best (or cleanest) venues and it seems like you are always paying too much to stay in a cramped and stale environment. The Met is a true oasis in a sea of shitty music venues. I really wish they would take more business away from the Palladium when it came to heavy metal because other than the obvious reason (I wouldn't have to drive to Worcester!) they are a more reasonably priced and more spacious venue (at least if comparing to the upstairs at the Palladium). The staff is also very cool and seem to enjoy being there for the most part. I can't wait for my next show at the Met because every time I've been there has been a treat. read more

I seriously have no idea why anyone has an issue with this club. It's a good size, clean rock club. The sound system was perfectly fine for the show I went to, and who actually cares about the light show? Sure, there are some poles, but they're thin and don't get in your way unless maybe you're standing against the back wall? It's a slightly odd set up, but it works and reminds me of the old Lupo's. I walked up with my ticket, walked in, and enjoyed the show. Both the door person and bartender were perfectly reasonable human beings. Plus, parking wasn't an issue even on a Saturday night. Plus, there are plenty of seats towards the back, and they're even elevated. If you're into that, it can be a huge plus. read more

4 bouncers (thugs) violently dragged me by the throat out of the club for no good reason. I have been going to The Met and Lupos for over 25 years and have never had one major problem with the clubs. They have always been supportive of local bands and tolerant to the community's that make those bands special. I am good friends with many staff members at Lupos and I spend considerable cash when I go out on myself and buying drinks for everyone I know. Like most shows in RI many people enjoy these shows and the fact that there is a place to gather and enjoy good music in peaceful environment. I don't drink a lot, I have never been arrested or kicked out of anywhere EVER-- I have been going to shows since I was in JR High school, I am 43 yrs old, friendly, rational and above all I have never gotten in a fight or had major issues with any staff of any of the hundreds of clubs I have been to including THE MET. But tonight at the 40th anniversary of one of my favorite bands Max Creek I was literally assaulted and dragged like an animal by several of their bouncers. I am now having problems swallowing and my neck is killing me (I have Ankylosing Spondylitus)-- I refuse to let this blow over. I am appalled and I intend to use my IT skills to get my voice heard and to bring justice to the table. Max Creek, like most jam bands always has a crowd of peaceful Smokers, and These clubs always have allowed people to smoke outside the venues. Smoking also happens from time to time inside the venues and usually a friendly reminder to stop from the staff is all that results from first time offenders. This is the sensible approach to this situation since the community is the very thing that makes these scenes exist and thrive. Tolerance is the backbone of freedom. You cannot run this type of establishment with a hard core group of thugs who jump on every discretion with an iron fist. Rich Lupo knows this and I have personally seen him step in to resolve issues between staff and client, absolving differences and creating peace even with potentially violent scenes. He knows that without the community you have no scene. Tonight I went to the show and brought several friends, all state MM card holders (yes, it is LEGAL for us) -- We smoked outside on the deck between sets and were having a great time. I was dancing in a circle of friends and I was handed something to smoke indoors; I usually wont smoke indoors (and didn't) but there were at least 20 other smokers so I grabbed it just so I was not rude. After passing it back to the other person someone grabbed my wrist hard out of nowhere and put my arm behind my back and started dragging me backwards. I instinctively diverted the dragging by rotating my footing and almost knocked the guy down. He didn't let go and this caused a big scuffle with myself, the person who grabbed me along several of my friends defending me-- mind you that none of us realized he was a staff member of The Met. Suddenly 3 other staff members of the club swarmed me and started dragging me across the room (I am A 5'4'' 140 POUND WEAKLING) So I naturally struggled against their excessive display of force. One of the bouncers grabbed me in a sleeper hold REALLY HARD and I almost lost consciousness within a few seconds so I struggled to get away while they violently dragged me by the throat through hundreds of people all yelling at them to stop. I have been going to these shows for almost 3 decades and I have NEVER been or seen anyone treated this way for doing nothing wrong, when I was finally out of the club several of the staff continued to taunt me and even called the cops. The Pawtucket Police arrived and the staff pointed me out. when they told them I was caught smoking the officers both shrugged their shoulders and laughed at them while looking at the crowd - Even the police know that you cant just grab a non violent patron in a peaceful gathering and then attack to restrain them when they resist because of an alleged discretion. Assault is illegal, and that is exactly what it was. Bouncers are just citizens like you and I and they have no real authority. They cannot just grab a citizen for something they think they see and they especially cannot restrain a peaceful individual or grab them in a choke hold just to eject them from the premises. They do have the option to call the police. The Met bouncers they have NO RIGHT to assault customers no matter what they are doing-- they may have the right to remove someone with diplomacy, but attacking and strangling someone for something that is basicly already tolerated in the scene is a flagrant display of the power trip that is ruining clubs in RI. As much as I respect Rich Lupo and The Met, I will never go there again and I will tell every person I know about this night. I have been in this city for a long time and I will be dealing with the bouncers through my community resources, my Attorney and my many supporters. read more

Saw Aztec Two Step last night, as usual they put on a great show. However, The Met is located in a desolate area. The parking is an issue, we had to walk quite a ways and didn't feel very safe. The people at the bar were very loud, not listening to the show..very distracting. One of the performers said something about it and they finally shut up. If I am paying to listen to people sing I shouldn't have to listen to anything else. I hope Aztec Two Step doesn't return there...if they do, I won't be going to see them there. read more

With all the bad press Pawtucket has been getting latley I want to point out a relatively new, but somehow retro [ in a good way ] club to see live bands. It harkens back to those great evenings in Providence at "The Living Roon","Lupo's" and "Club Babey Head / The Roket" [ without the funkey bathrooms and stank of smoke }. It's not a cheesey fist pumping - fake tan - gel hair place. These are down to earth friendly folks who assemble here to enjoy some great live music. There's never been any fighting or nonsense that I have seen yet and I've been many times. It has 2 large bars with a good selection of beer and the other essential cocktail bevies with little to no waiting regardless of how many people are packed in. It is a large venue located in what seems to be an old mill that has been restored. If you do smoke there is a deck with seating outside. Parking has never been a problem on any of the streets surounding the complex and zero traffic or crowds when leaving. Now with all that said you can't ignore the obvious connection to the old "Lupo's" . The great old paintings of Janice, Jimmy and the gang that covered the windows at the old club are hung around the club [ great to see that they survived in great shape all those years] and yes they are the real one's from back in the day. Talk about the old days, you can even catch "Max Creek" there once and a while. I wish them longevity. This is the first decent place to see live acts in a very long time for R.I. The only reason I don't have a 5 star rateing is the lack of air- conditioning but ticket and drink prices are great! read more
