We enter and sit at the bar. They have booze, but only a few kinds. No problem. They have beer, the expected one's. All good. It's early in the evening, the crowds are thin, the music is good, we have a drink, we are happy. If only we had time for more than one drink. This is a dive bar. Just do it.

Right enough no one stopped me entering. Inside the bar is the very embodiment of cool; from the second I walked in, all I could say was "Cool"... I very much doubt if I was very cool about it but I'm ok with that (which I think possibly makes me cool again, but only briefly). The seats are made of oil barrels, there's half a car swinging from the ceiling, there's sawdust on the floor...really. Behind the bar they even have a couple of half decent beers which was pretty much all the icing that this cake needed. I am a fan, I shall be back!

It reminded me of a place I used to go to in Bellflower called Midway. The only difference is they have good punk music. The beer was excellent and I must quote them on this, "no sissy drinks like an apple martini." I will forever be grateful to this pub as I discovered St. Bernardus. Only the best beer in the world and it's made by Monks. Something about the rich flavors in it made for a climatic experience. As I drank that pint, I tasted all it had to offer. It's dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It was amazing, try it and don't hesitate to go to a punk bar in Dublin, Ireland when you get a chance. Cheers!

The three-person band was playing very softly and in the most far-reaching left side of the bar hidden away. You could not really hear it and when I say the place was jammed pack with people near them, I am not joking, we could barely see them. I had half a beer here as my girlfriend and I weren't in the mood to stand the whole time to music we could barely hear. I appreciate that this is an old bar that people frequent, kind of reminded me of the dive bars in Philly to a degree but just know what you are in for before coming if this is the bar you ultimately choose for a night out. But Yelp calls it "No Name Bar." Late at night, this is the place to be. The music is loud, the place is hoppin', and everyone is movin' and groovin'. It's LOADS of fun, I can't express that enough - but it DOES get packed! If you are staying in Kelly's Hotel up above it, you MUST visit at least once to see what all the fuss is and why your hotel room is rattling until 2 or 3 in the morning. They have DJs playing every Friday and Saturday "from 10pm until late" as it's billed on their website. It's connected to the hotel, so if you are staying there, you can just head down the stairs to enter. From street level, use the entrance with the snail hanging above the black door with the address number of "3" on the door. It's so easy to walk past and not notice it. The entrance is JUST past the sidewalk patio for L'Gueuleton.
