Ok, this place can be a little creepy, and I avoid it on weekend nights like I avoid pretty much every Temple Bar establishment barring the Porterhouse. But during the week it's a lot better, not crowded at all and can be a good place to grab a drink if you're in the area and can't get up the energy to wander a bit further out of TB to find a cheaper pub. I really dig the cool mosaic-tiled columns that hold the ceiling up, they're pretty! We stopped in on a Monday night and were surprised to see a milonga in the next room! Turns out they have tango lessons, which highly excited my Argentinean boyfriend. I think that's pretty much enough to give this place an extra star.

I imagine that Laura is of a similar vintage to myself, as I seem to remember the Turk's Head being somewhat en vouge back in '05 or '06. I think my sister might have had her 21st there, though I was very drunk at the time so the particulars are a bit hazy, and a couple of the local girls' schools had graduation parties there (back when I was the right age for chasing after young debutantes). I also recall thinking what an odd choice Turk's Head was for a group of nubile young women to go to, as any time that I had been there, the dancefloor had been chock-a-block with sleazy foreign men. The bar upstairs is alright: pretty standard for a bar in the Dame St area, apart from the funky columns everywhere. They also have an area that you can book for 21st's (if it actually was the Turk's Head where my sister had her's, but I'm pretty sure it is). There is a dancefloor downstairs, and seriously, creeeep central, I was pretty appalled last time I went, and had to go to and square up to some bloke with wandering hands in order to preserve the innocence of some young Rahenyenite. On the plus side, Turk's Head is free in, so if you go there and don't like it, no loss, just head somewhere else. And they have World Music nights (which I can't abide), but if that is your thing, pop your head around the door mid-week and see how you like it.

this very busy and stylish bar can be found in the Temple Bar's West End. It is designed with mosaic and Spanish styled architecture and such a breath of fresh air, compared to the traditional pubs. It is open from 12noon, food is available till 8,30, but can't comment on the food as only went in for a drink and to sample the music. from 8.30 it becomes a late night venue hosting many of Dublins DJ's and is open till 3.30am

    Good selection of beer!!

Such a fun place to be and the staff is so amazing! They are very attentive and go out of their way to help the customers. Thanks for making my experience here in Ireland a memorable one making me want to return.

Big comfortable smoking area, strong Irish coffee and good location at the end of the temple bar.

In the corner of temple bar, Turks Head is a pub that's offers a great amount of selected beers very well poured and a little bit more expensive than others pubs in the zone. The decoration is not the typical decoration you can find I other pubs and it is very nice.

    Cool mosaic tiling decor!

I stumbled upon this place when waiting for a dinner reservation around the corner. I'm so glad we did! We only had time for the one(I mean the one!). The place was pretty quiet at 8:30pm on a Thursday, so we were attended to quickly. I had a Guinness and my date had a non alcoholic drink. Straightforward enough! What I really liked about the place was how spacious it was and the decor. The big bar was in the center of the bar with plenty of space for standing dancing, merriment a surrounding it. All around the bar and even up to the ceiling was an intricate mosaic tiling that was so unusual for the area - I loved it! It gave it a really upbeat and funky vibe that would definitely bring me back. The restaurant location itself was great - so close to restaurants on both the north and south side, making it a convenient stop when out on the town! Or even for a casual drink before a play or gig!

The Turks Head has live music till late every night of the week and is open till 4am all week and it is free in before midnight. It also has tango classes every Monday from 8pm. It tries to vary the music genre every night so Monday after the Tango might be reggae, Friday Indie night, Sunday Funk Soul etc. But in trying to appeal to every body's taste I feel that it has lost its own identity and it cannot make up its mind who it wants its clientele to be and what type of venue it wants to promote itself as. I say pick one thing and do it well!

This place got me by its clever smoking room ;) it feels like you're sitting outside but it's still cosy and warm

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

A group of us wandered down the dark alley one Sunday afternoon, a little anxious about what we might discover... The place was empty before we arrived, but luckily we'd brought a large enough group to make the entire place our own. The candelabras, mood lighting and high, domed ceilings make this place enchantingly atmospheric, but let's not forget the practicalities. The Wind Jammer is the type of early house that caters to shift workers and Gardaí from Pearse St coming off the night shift. Apart from a few couples the morning after the Trinity Ball, they wouldn't let in too many post-club revellers. The door is closed most early mornings, and they have a CCTV camera to give ya a good hard scrutinising before they'll let you in. The only time I was there for early pints, there was only one other group of young lads there and the barman looked like he was about to stop serving them. During the rest of the day and night, the Wind Jammer is a quiet pub frequented mainly by old, grumpy locals, who would sooner bite your head off than ask you the time of day. If you're really desperate for a drink and can't make it til half ten when the rest of the pubs open, by all means go to The Wind Jammer. Otherwise, there isn't that much else to recommend to it. Oh, one other thing. The Wind Jammer is the closest pub to Windmll Lane Studios, so U2 and The Saw Doctors among others have retired there for post-recording session pints over the years. Not the type of thing that would interest me, but sure it might interest you so I thought that I'd tack it on the end there
