THEY BROKE OUR CONTRACT LESS THAN TWO MONTHS BEFORE OUR WEDDING. The contract included the venue, the catering, the flowers, and most of the decorations. Meaning they left us with less than two months to completely start over in planning our entire wedding. They even have you sign the contract saying that you will not leave them any bad reviews (we should have known then), but since they are the ones that broke the contract I will make sure to leave the worst reviews on every site I can find. It started when Brandy emailed us somebody else's contract, showing us that for a cheaper price they got a lot more than we did. She said she didn't see what the big deal was. Then, the florist said that he was already doing two weddings that week and just couldn't handle the stress. (He is probably in the wrong line of work) We tried to explain to him that it was already included in the contract. We received a call afterwards from the company saying that the florist complained, saying that we were screaming at him and he refused to do business with us. That was a lie. There were many small things that suddenly were not included or different than what was agreed on when we first met. The next problem we had, had to do with the catering. Initially we were told that when we did the taste test that we would be able to choose from a menu what we would like to try and decide from there what we would like for the wedding. That changed as well. They then told us that since they do the taste tests for large groups of people they cannot cater to everyone's wants and that we would only be able to try what was on their menu for that month. So we went. We were the only family there. That meant they also lied about not being able to cater to us. They began to bring out the appetizers, which were almost inedible. One of the appetizers was a green fried tomato slider. There wasn't really any tomato in it so it just tasted like fried breading in bread. Another one was potato souffle if I remember correctly. Whatever it was, when we put our fork in it to take a bite, the entire thing came up like a rock. My mom commented that she could tell that the food had been pre-made but she assumed that it would be fresh for the wedding. That didn't go over too well, Brandy told us that she could bring out the pan that the food was cooked in.....like that was going to prove anything. Then she went in the kitchen and came back with someone else from the company. The first thing he said when he came out was: "Obviously there is nothing we can do to make you happy so you can come Wednesday to pick up your check." The Mill at Yellow River was the perfect location for our wedding! It was absolutely gorgeous. I didn't like the distance from the city of Atlanta (and some of my guests got a bit lost); however, it was completely worth it. The large windows, brick interior, loft style, outdoor area (patio and garden) and river backdrop were beautiful (which made for wonderful photos). Guests immediately loved the place when they pulled up to the venue. I was set on getting married outside; however, because of rain the morning of the wedding and the wet grounds, our ceremony was held inside and cocktail hour was outside on the patio. Even though my heart was set on everything being outside (other than the reception), it was all beautiful and perfect. The bridal loft was definitely a plus since I had a large bridal party. It was a beautiful fully equipped loft style apartment that also made for great photos. I wouldn't change a thing about the venue other than its distance. This was a great find. I initially looked at the Cotton Warehouse in Monroe (which was also nice), but I am so grateful that Jakob told me about this place because it fit us perfectly. read more

We got married on April Fools (for realz) and it was everything I could have imagined and more. After ferociously searching for my dream wedding venue, one of my bridesmaids sent me a link to the Mill at Yellow River and I instantly fell in love. It had the exposed brick and feel I was going for so I had to immediately take a look. It was also the only venue we looked at in person and we just couldn't pass it up and signed the contract. The Mill at Yellow River is run by a catering and floral company called Beyond Details and they were fantastic to work with!! They made my life super easy because they basically had everything ready for me in one place. I know some people like to DIY their wedding but with my busy schedule, it was easy to just look for the props I needed from their extensive collection. I rented all of my props and did my florals through them and that made it super easy and convenient. But if you wanted to DIY your own wedding, you can certainly do that at this location as well. They had a couple of restrictions on what we could bring to the venue but that wasn't a huge issue to us because we were using them as our vendor. I would advice throughly discussing those restrictions with them beforehand. I worked with two venue coordinators, Kaylyn and Erica, and the floral designer, Jakob. They were all really great to work with, super professional and attentive. They were always very good about responding to my numerous questions via email at a timely manner. They also catered my wedding and the food was so good! All of my guests loved it. We even got to take the leftovers home. Food for dayss! As for alcohol, we had to get that ourselves but I really liked having that option so I could customize it better. They also had a bridal loft that we booked and it was so pretty! The girls and I got ready and celebrated a little before hand. There's a backdoor that leads out to a mini balcony where you can see the river - very pretty view. On my actual wedding day, my now husband and I were extremely happy. The setting, the decor, the food, just everything was perfect. Also, bonus points for Beyond Details - my little sister started feeling sick while she was at the wedding and the venue coordinators were sweet enough to let her rest in the groom parlor. I was super grateful that I didn't have to worry about it because they were so accommodating and understanding. Thank you! A couple of things I would advise: If you're getting married outside by the river, make sure you do a sound check with your DJ/audio guy. It's a little loud so the mic couldn't pick up our voices when we were exchanging vows so it was hard for our guests to hear. Also, I know some of the other reviews mention their extensive contract. MAKE SURE YOU READ IT. They give it to you before the contract meeting so take the time to ask them questions before and during the meeting. The contract breaks every little cost down to the tee so you know what you're paying for because it can add up. I'm a very detailed oriented person so I liked that I could see all of this information. They also run specials and sales for prop rental throughout the year leading up to your wedding. Take advantage of those sales if you're going to rent from them. Obviously, I'm a huge fan of the Mill at Yellow River and Beyond Details. This venue is absolutely gorgeous and the staff was super friendly. We were super satisfied with everything. I HIGHLY recommend them. read more

This venue is really pretty and they definitely advertise that they are award winning. BEWARE. We signed a contract with them for a package that included flowers, food and venue. Six weeks from wedding we were told they couldn't do the flowers because they were triple booked. The next week at tasting we were told that they were afraid we would give them a bad review so they BREACHED their contract with us and cancelled the wedding. I have never heard of this happening before. Since then we have had to plan an entire wedding in just these last weeks. If you are interested in this venue ask around to other vendors that have worked with them. They have a terrible reputation. If you do use them make sure you have everything that you negotiate at signing written in the contract. That way you will be protected when you have to sue them. Erica, Todd, and the rest of the team helped our dream wedding happen! We took advantage of one of their last minute deals (which left us planning a wedding in 3 months!) This was all accomplished with the help of our coordinator Erica. So many things are included at this venue, that we didn't have to worry about meeting many other vendors. The venue and entire grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The set up they have is brilliant with separate bridal and grooms suites. Our outdoor ceremony by the river was everything we could have wanted, and the reception inside afterwards was just as beautiful, as well as an absolute blast! I also recommend the little deli and bar (Speakeasy) right across the street. If you're considering this place just go ahead and book it! You won't regret it. The venue is beautiful and the setting on the river is awesome. I was fortunate to have Kaylyn as my contact person at the venue and she was wonderful! Wedding planning is stressful and she was so helpful and kind throughout the process. She went above and beyond to make sure things looked beautiful on my wedding day and it was even prettier than I was imagining. Jakob did and amazing job with the flowers and I got several comments from guests about how great the food was. Read the contract carefully and ask lots of questions about what is included and what is additional. We did and were pleased with the outcome. Disgusted! Im doing this review to warn upcoming brides from this place. I am a good friend of a bride that got Married here and I was with her during the tour, it was beautiful. The sales guy seemed very nice and promised things and ensured us that a wedding here would be flawless. My friend signed the contract that day because she received a discount for signing on the day of tour. I was so excited for her, this was a beautiful venue and she was going to have the wedding of her dreams but shortly after it went down hill from there. It was like a bait and switch scandal, promising her everything she wanted to hear and then not delivering. The sales guy promised her things and then because it was not wrote in the contract, he would not honor it. This is discusting, I guess I'm old school but when someone tells me something, I believe them. Is it your passion to make brides happy or to line your pockets with the money after lying to them? Brides beware.if they promise you anything, please make sure it's in the contract. Also, be warned of there late fees, $50/day. Unreasonable! They even threatened to cancel the wedding just because my friend was 3 days late, and she already paid over $3000. My friend almost lost the wedding of her dreams over being 3 days late! Says a lot about the kind of people that own this place! My friend was stressed the whole time of the planning process because the fear of losing her wedding and plus the failed promises. Jakob Garner (owner of The Mill at Yellow River and Beyond Details) created the perfect wedding for our daughters. Our older daughter was married at the Mill in 2014. She wanted an elegant and romantic look. Beyond Details delivered!!! The ceremony was held outdoors in the garden area fronting onto the Yellow River. The red brick facade of the Mill was the perfect backdrop. The flowers were lovely in shepherd's hooks hanging on the aisles. Inside, for the reception, long tables were spectacularly decorated with beautiful florals, candles and votives. Cafe tea lights and cream linen long drapes were strung across the ceiling to create a romantic, magical aura. The food was outstanding. When our younger daughter became engaged, we sought Jakob out again to create another perfect wedding!! The couple was married inside amidst a stunning display of golden branches, crystal orbs with tea lights, cafe lights, cream linen drapery, large iron floor lanterns with candles. Flower petals were strewn along the wedding aisle. It looked like a scene from The Great Gatsby. Cocktail hour was outdoors and butlers passed o'er d'heuvres while bartenders seamlessly filled guests orders. The Beyond Details staff "flipped" the room, indoors, to create a stunning visual with long tables outfitted in champagne linens and glitter-gold table runners. Cafe lights, golden branches and glass orbs ran throughout the room. The lighting was soft and warm and created a magical atmosphere.The food was outstanding. The dance floor was accented by a "club/bistro" seating area. Everything about this wedding was excellent and well-thought out. I would recommend, WITHOUT HESITATION, Jakob, Todd, Kaylyn, and the rest of this outstanding staff to anyone who is looking to create a memorable event. read more

I can't even start to express how much I loved my experience at The Mill at Yellow River. From the moment I walked in to meet with Jakob, Kaylyn, and the rest of their amazing team, I felt like I was their most important client (and I know they had many other weddings they were planning). My older sister got married at the same venue 2 years before me and her experience was exactly the same. They take care of you from the very start until all the wedding fun is over. I would recommend them to any and everyone. The setting is beautiful and Jakob designed my wedding so beautifully that it literally brought me to tears. Superb portfolio in terms of design! Beautiful location...very unique! The loft on site is amazing and the site is amazing and "away from it all." The structure of the mill is a bit small, and does not accommodate as many guests (comfortably) as the website would suggest, but the guests will still likely enjoy themselves and not get overly upset about "sitting close" to a neighbor. The venue is owned and operated by Beyond Details and it should be known that it is required to use the onsite catering to host any event at the mill. The catering company offers great food (though the quality on any day can vary in taste, appearance, etc from the time of tasting to the actual event- however, I am sure that this is something that stands to be true in many other catering companies, a bit disappointing nonetheless). All in all, its truly great to have a catering and decor business with such demonstrated skill/talent in such a small community. However, as in any business, customer service is the key.
