Central Bark Rochester, MN - We love seeing Central Bark's daily Facebook post of the pups that day!

When we got our new puppy we wanted to make sure she was well socialized and used to spending days without us in case we both end up with office jobs again (I work from home). She's routinely gotten praise and she comes home the happiest and the most tired. And also stinky, but people who leave a bad review for a stinky dog are ignoring that when a dog plays hard they're rolling in dirt, water, and spit, let alone if you've got one with a penchant for sticking their head in a "stream" (Riza). For us, when we toured the facility was very clean, and they take and post pictures daily of all the pups and even with all the dogs running around all day it's always super clean. The staff are all super friendly and seem to really love their jobs -- or at least really love the dogs so you'd never know. Central Bark is also on the ball with keeping track of vaccinations & will mention if you've got something close to expiring - an added perk for sure since it's easy to miss an email from the vet. For safety reasons, Central Bark asks that you come on as regular a schedule as possible - this keeps their play groups fairly consistent and let's the dogs develop friendships and not be constantly introducing brand new dogs to each other every single day. It also helps with your own routines at home. By doing this, we've found that Riza has made her own friends and has a few doggies that she just LOVES at daycare. It's always fun to see the regulars in the pictures with her. I love them, I think their prices are reasonable and well worth it, and I hope to let Riza come to daycare for as long as we possibly can. Attached are photos from central barks Facebook page of Riza playing in their facility

K-9 Kennels - Picking up King! My sweet boy was glad to come home but I can tell he was well taken care of.

They took time and answered all our questions. Then took us on a tour of the property and explained play time and how they make sure they observe the dogs first before putting them with other dogs. As we walked the property it was clean and the play areas were well kept. There is always someone on the property with the dogs. The day we picked King up he seemed fine and relaxed and I also noticed that King's nails were trimmed. They really do look after the dogs and went above and beyond. We will definitely using them again!!!!

Left three days worth of food, special brand as he has a sensitive digestive system, treats, and his arthritis medicine. We get a call Sunday evening telling us our dog growled at the young caretaker, and they would not be letting our dog out of his kennel. Luckily we were only in Wisconsin and woke up at 4:30 AM to head home. When we picked our dog up, less than one serving of food was missing, no treats or medicine was given either. Maybe he did growl from hunger? The diarrhea has not subsided, so there will be a vet bill to add to this adventure. Seems completely at odds with the positive review they got last year. Very distressing situation.

Anyway, we just moved to Minnesota and tried P-K Pet Resort & Spa for the first time this past weekend. Since we don't know anyone here yet, we didn't have a backup plan if things went wrong--and our pets are truly our children--so their safety and happiness were our top priorities. From the moment we arrived, I was impressed. I was invited to tour the facility and was pleasantly surprised by how clean and quiet it was. At most boarding and daycare places, you hear lots of barking and commotion, but not here. Instead, there was soothing music, TVs for visual stimulation, and every dog I saw looked happy--wagging tails, relaxing on their beds, or enjoying their private patios. We've always boarded our pups together because one of them, Newt, has separation anxiety when she's not with her brother, Samson. The staff took my concerns seriously, asking about food aggression and making sure safety came first, but they also respected my knowledge of my dogs. We agreed that if there was any problem, they'd be separated. I appreciated that balance of caution and flexibility. Our dogs got cuddle time, outside play time, and their own outdoor patio space. We also loved having access to a live camera feed--Samson especially enjoyed the patio! On top of that, we received thoughtful updates letting us know the dogs were doing well, eating, and showing no aggression, so they got to stay together. They even joked, asking if we brought the right dogs since I had been so worried beforehand. Overall, P-K went above and beyond to make us (and our pups) feel comfortable. We felt reassured, supported, and most importantly, we could see how happy our dogs were. We'll definitely be coming back.

It was heartbreaking. The staff were spectacular and they wouldn't give up. Kept giving him fresh food, talking to him. Finally broke the ice with a lick mat covered in whipped cream. They sent a picture, he had one side eye on Alex while he licked. Between the live feed, emails, and phone calls, we were able to check on his progress. What a wonderful experience. We were only going to be gone for a few days, so it was reassuring to see his progress. Once he started eating we knew everything was going to be okay. Just a great experience, much more than a business, a real service provider.

I got a call 45 minutes later stating she could not finish the groom because he would not cooperate and was trying to bite. She told me to come pick him up and added " he doesn't look pretty". I have had this same dog groomed ever since I got him as a 6 month old pup. He has never had fleas but since I am new to this state I was willing to pay. I also knew he had some matting (NOT extensive) because he had a surgery 7 weeks ago and I could not brush him. She said I could bring him back in 3 days to see the grooming manager who would "finish" the groom. She said that she was unwilling to finish grooming him for her safety and his. I was charged an extra $30 ( which I did not agree to and which was not discussed with me nor was I informed of until the invoice was presented to me. Total charge was $148.00., (which is a full $90 more than I have historically paid ...with a tip included!) He was last groomed in May 2024. Today's date is 9/13/24. I did not agree to the extra $35 Charge and I certainly didn't leave a tip!) His groom was incomplete and the groomer said she was able to brush his teeth however when we got home I noticed that his mouth was bleeding Before I left the store I told her that 1. the additional fees were not cleared with me nor discussed with me. 2. I have never had any groomer in 5 years complain about him or return him to me unfinished. 3. That I was going to complain because I was informed of charges and she did a lousy job. I complained to the manager on the way out. I have shopped at PetSmart for over 25 years but I will NEVER go back. The manager said he would call me but I paid the entire $148 and change. 7 weeks ago the dog had sedation, abdominal surgery to remove in descended testicles and his teeth cleaned... the entire charge from a local vet was $560. Groomer was clearly not trained well, the dog is injured and the groom was incomplete. Do not bring your pets here.... Very unprofessional. Maureen Brickley
