The landlord, Sabrina, is an absolute dream to have on your team. She's personable, she listens, she cares, and she will do what it takes to make you confident in your home. Her team member Alex, is so sweet and hard working. Both of them rock a smile daily, and are very easy to talk to. The building is clean, they keep the units up to date and working efficiently and effectively. I went from a 2 bedroom, to a 1 bedroom over the course of a handful of years. My partner and I at the time were the very first renters to secure a unit in the brand new built complex. It was a virtually perfect living experience for us, and then myself alone in the one bed unit. Better late than never, I HIGHLY recommend this complex as a hop-skip-jump away from Sunset Blvd and all Silver Lake and Echo Park have to offer. Rose, the property manager, is responsive, professional, and actually cares about the people living here. Maintenance requests were handled promptly every time, and when something was beyond fixing, she replaced it without making it a whole ordeal. That kind of follow-through is rare and it made such a difference in day-to-day life. The apartments are all newly renovated and a great size, especially for the price. Parking is included in the garage, and street parking in the area is easy enough that guests never had trouble finding a spot. Laundry is in the building and fairly priced, which is honestly more than you can say for a lot of places. 18 years is a long time to stay anywhere, and I genuinely think Rose is a big part of why I did. If you're looking for a place where the people running it actually do their jobs well and treat residents with respect, this is it.

The amenities in the building are also great and well maintained, which adds to the overall quality of living here. What really stands out, though, is Tom's approach to management - he takes the time to make sure new tenants are a good fit and that they'll mesh well with the current community. That extra attention to detail really makes a difference in the overall environment. I thought most of them being posted on the same day was kind of strange, and I now realize I should have paid more attention to that. I was genuinely excited to move into Echo Lofts because I thought I'd found a gem. However, on September 1st, I walked into a complete mess. Before you sign a lease with this property, be sure to read all of their reviews--not just the five-star ones. Before I moved in, I assumed that the property manager would walk through the space with the previous tenant to ensure the space wasn't left in the condition you see in the photos. When I walked in and saw the holes, black fingerprints/footprint (yes, footprint), a black speckled air vent, water damage, and the grimy nature of the apartment, I was shocked and disappointed. If you're wondering if I saw the place beforehand I did. However, when everything is moved and the person doesn't bother to clean up behind themselves you can see how bad a space really is. These issues made it very clear that the person moving out didn't care for the space and that Sky Properties doesn't do their part to maintain their properties. Again this is disappointing, especially since they have these videos and perfect photos posted on YT and their listing pages. They allow their tenants to leave their properties any kind of way. What has been the most disappointing, is the lack of accountability for the former tenants. In addition, management will do nothing to make it right, even if it's as simple as painting the walls so that someone feels comfortable paying a deposit on my new space. No one wants to get stuck paying for someone else's mess. One thing to note about deposits in LA in general which is new to me as I've never had this issue, possibly because of dealing with more flexible landlords. The deposits that are left on the apartment when a tenant moves out will only be given back if all occupants vacate the space. This is their policy. So don't count on getting your deposit back if you and your roommate aren't moving out at the same time. The sucky part is they will not use that to fix anything that a previous tenant left behind. I focused on the pretty photos, videos, and "5-star" reviews. I have learned a valuable lesson that those aren't the best gauge when it comes to how a company cares for its tenants and its property. Since my writing of my review, I did receive a phone call asking what could be done to get me to take my negative review down. They offered to let me out of my lease. However, my stuff has already been moved in by movers, and we all know finding a new place takes time. Not to mention, that option would leave my roommate paying all of the rent. I couldn't do that to them, even given my ongoing disappointment and frustration. The only bright spot in this whole thing has been their head of maintenance. He came by at 7:00 on Friday evening (drove all the way from Reseda in traffic) to look at the air vents and the water damage. He changed all of the air vents, cleaned them off, and he will be back on Monday/Tuesday to paint the water leak spot, which he looked into and said needed no repairs. As a property, I get there are things you don't "have" to do. However, when your old tenant leaves a place in a filthy mess, in good faith, I would hope other property managers would try to meet in the middle. The lease out may have been the middle for them, but that would have left me without a place to live and having to spend more time and money to move out when a paint job and a little maintenance would have done the trick. I have spent all week trying to clean my "new" place that I was SO excited about, which just keeps making me so sad. I have never had a move in experience as challenging and frankly, disgusting as this one, even as a subletter. The rooms I moved into were always in good condition--no footprints on the walls, no filth anywhere. And the landlords always made sure space was in its best condition instead of waiting until they have to fix a problem. I'm grateful for their head of maintenance. He truly made my day yesterday, and you can tell he cares about his work and tenants.

My husband and I have lived in a half dozen apartments all around the country, but Kingsley was undoubtedly our best experience ever: so clean, peaceful, and QUIET. Anyone who's been thru this side of KTown knows these streets can get very noisy, but the windows did a great job of blocking out sounds. (Only recently had noisy neighbors move in, which stopped once we politely knocked to let them know.) Everyone here is friendly and it's a family environment. It's a very small place (only like 70 or 80 units), and it always felt so refreshing coming home to the natural, open air layout and the water sounds. I've also never felt more safe and secure in an apartment community than I did here. There were times I came home alone late at night or forgot to lock the door before bed and never panicked about it because nothing happened. We moved in right as they were switching management, and Paul is the BEST. We've never met a more kind, helpful and efficient apartment manager. (Once while getting ready to go to my own bday dinner, I accidentally locked myself out of our apartment with nothing but my phone and pajamas, and Paul very kindly came to my rescue even after-hours!) He kept the entire place up to the standard that was advertised to us in the tour. What you see there is truly what you get. The only way to level it up would be to maybe have a monthly calendar of neighbor social activities. Our hearts genuinely ache to leave, but we're even more thankful for this experience! This was the first place that really felt like home for us and was equally cherished by all the friends and family that would come over to visit. It honestly feels more like a boutique hotel than anything else - everything is so modern and zen. And very clean, unlike so many other apartment complexes. The pictures don't nearly show how amazing this space is - you have to see for yourself. It's 5 min from The Grove, 6-7 min to West Hollywood and 15 min from Culver City. Location is amazing - it's close to everything but still has a private/secluded zen feel to it. Amazing!

The Good - Brand new complex. Very modern and clean. All new appliances with hardwood floors. Can't complain. - Parking garage is well lit and clean. - Pretty secure place with lots of security cams. No security guard on site or after hours. When I initially signed with Moss, they told me there'd be after hour security guards. Nowhere to be seen. - When you close the windows, you can't hear outside noises. Which is great because of all the construction on Wilshire. - Complex is always clean. They're constantly cleaning the elevator, hallways, etc. FYI's: - Floor to floor sound is pretty bad. I always heard my upstairs neighbor walking around, vacuuming, moving furniture, etc. My neighbor below would blast his/her music and the bass would soak into my unit. If you are sensitive to noise, take this into consideration. - Not a lot of amenities. There are bike racks, pet grooming area, and club house... but no gym or pool. Not a deal breaker though. - Leasing office isn't always open as it says on the door. Better to email if anything is needed. - There's a lot of construction going on nearby. Your unit will get dusty pretty quickly. The Unpleasant Incidents - Before you move out, they have two inspections. Pre-move out and day-of move out inspections. We spent time cleaning everything so we won't get charged for a hefty cleaning fee. On the day of our move out, office noted that everything was clean and we will pay for something minor in the bathroom cabinet. We get our security deposit and they took out $120 for cleaning $100 for painting the unit. Uh we had very few scuff marks on the walls (usual wear and tear). Not sure why two inspections were needed if they were going to charge for painting and cleaning. I lived at my prior apartment for 5 years + and they didn't even charge me that much for cleaning. - They will show your unit to "future interested tenants" before you move. Most places have the courtesy to wait until you move out before showing it to others. This place for sure doesn't. I got a call from the leasing office 4 days before my move asking if they can show my unit to a possible future tenant. I asked if they can wait until I move out - since it's only 4 days away and the unit would not be attractive with boxes and moving mess that I made. Next day, I got a very impersonal, insensitive email from the property manager that the email serves as a 24 hour notice to enter my unit and that I am interrupting business. Fine. Only request was that all parties take off their shoes. Last thing I wanted to do was clean up after strangers who walked all over my unit. Packing was already more than enough work. One less chore to do, right? Wrong. After work, I came home to black footprints on the floor. Just amazing. Thanks Urbanpolitian for making me clean up after you. Before this incident, I was quite impressed with the management. Amazing this one incident can ruin it all.

They work hard every single day to make sure our building looks pristine. If there is ever an issue, our manager, Seema, makes sure it's taken care of immediately. Bruce and Carlos, from the maintenance team, are some of the most amazing people I know. They always have a smile on their face and never hesitate to ask how my day is going. The hard work they put in to make sure the apartments in our building are functioning properly and smoothly is amazing. I haven't lived in too many apartment buildings, but I can say with certainty that it doesn't get better than this - I feel taken care of!
