If you enjoyed your time at museum it's practically a must to at least look at the gift shop. I'm obsessed with Tervis tumblers so I was glad to find more than one design available in the gift shop. Check out The Field Museum gift shop or one of the other numerous shops inside. Employees are kind and helpful, so if you need help finding something specific make sure to ask so they can send you in the right direction. Some items are expensive, like the Sue water bottle was $40. Other items are less expensive though so there is definitely a variety of prices and merchandise to help find an item that is priced reasonably for you.

Like, an American Girl doll would "drink" from it size. The staff was very friendly and politely communicated boundaries with the groups of kids visiting. I almost bought freeze dried ice cream while surrounded by outer space, but remembered I could get it at my local craft store with a coupon!

I learned about stars in the sky and small planets. I may need to look outside and use binoculars to see the big dipper, little dipper and other constellations. I did shop at the gift shop and bought an alien encounter Chicago magnet for $5. Since this was on the go city pass, it was worth a quick stop.

If you wanna look like you've been to China with a bunch of Chinese stuff made in China, this is the place. They do have things relating to Chicago, but a lot of the stuff is just Chinese stuff that'll sit around your house gathering dust. Think lots of little statues, vases, cups, bowls. I feel like a bull in a China shop in here- all the aisles and merchandise is so jammed close together, that every time I turn around, I feel like I'm going to break some fragile jade egg or some bamboo vase. They also sell Chinese clothing, which all seemed a bit small for my tastes. But it's pretty. It's a shop in a nice location- it's sort of in the souvenir district of Chinatown- there's a few cool other similar shops on the same street, right in front of the Chinese archway that leads you into Chinatown.

They sell calligraphy pens but I wasn't able to write this, though I tried for a full 5 minutes. The staff is helpful, and patient. There's quite a bit of stuff crammed into a small space, and it ranges from the very cheap (and looks very cheap) the to the inexpensive (and doesn't look cheap) souvenirs to nice decorations. It's too tight with too many fragile items to bring in younger children (unless they are very well behaved) but there are lots of toys to give to children as gifts. Not surprisingly it's all made in China, including the Japanese sake serving sets which are quite a bit cheaper than you would find elsewhere. It's really fun to shop here, and you can't leave Chinatown with out some sort of souvenir, right?

After leaving the Chicago Cultural Center across the street, I thought I would check the place out. There is a small shop adjoining the gallery and classroom. Most of the art (paintings and sculpture) and jewelry (beaded stuff) didn't pique my interest - not my style. There was a display in back of the store with several handmade soaps, lotions, and lip balms. I purchased an all-natural lip balm, cleverly named "Chappucino," for only $2. It smells wonderful and is very moisturizing - a purchase I don't regret with this early on-set of winter. And I love the adorable label - a cappucino mug with a smiling face and a mustache. While I was here, there was a class in session. At the back of the store there's a large window so you can look in and observe. I only spent $2 here, but the nice lady working here gave me a free tote bag with their logo on it. Gallery 37 is certainly worth a look if you're in the loop area or looking for a way to get your child involved in the arts without spending lots of money on expensive lessons.

The selection for gifts for musicians is very unique and most of the items were funny if you understand music to any degree. The pricing is far and comparable to souvenirs from surrounding fine arts. The Merry, Merry, Chicago ornament was very pretty and I almost purchased it, but I am getting to that point in my life where not having the thing from the experience doesn't mean I won't remember it. I did pick up a postcard to hang by my work desk and so did my teenage daughter for her own space. The items offered are DEFINITELY unique--ranging from egg timers that sing when your eggs are boiled to wind chimes that play a specific song when activated to items made out of recycled instrument parts. 10/10 recommend if you have someone that would get surprise and delight out of an item like that. The staff was kind, greeted us upon our arrival, and was patient as we took the time to look at, like, literally everything. (With our eyes, not our hands!) My only suggestion for the future was to have shopping time around the nighttime shows? I don't know if it was open before the show, but the trek from the suburbs didn't allow me the time to find out!

Prices are as expected for a gallery of this nature, but definitely a little pricey if you compare them to all the other shops along this strip. But nothing else on this stretch of Wentworth compares. As I worked my way from one room to the next- I could think of other people I knew who would love a gift from a store like this. I was curious as to why this location was chosen as it just doesn't seem to fit the neighborhood. It's so much more, it's definitely a diamond in the rough. There are so many interesting and eclectic products that it can take you a couple of hours or more to really enjoy everything they have to offer. I found myself taking several mental notes on all the beautiful home decorations that I want to place in my future house to beautify it and make it unique. They have a lot of eastern inspired products from middle eastern to asian. There were also these mosaic mirrors that were just wonderful! A perfect vanity mirror or conversational piece in the living room. The owner remembered the little ones too, there was an area of gifts and toys for children too! When you step over to the gallery side, my first thought was, WOW! This artist is truly talented. His worked ranged from beautiful flower paintings to animals, to dr. seuss!! I loved the dr. seuss paintings and the artistic looking lamps. I'm looking forward to visiting Chicago again very soon and often! And I'll be sure to be stopping by this little treasure each time, even if I just want to day dream =)
