I am literally writing this on Yelp because no one answers their phone when I call (and they are open at this time) and there is no email address that I can find. I would be delighted to change my review if someone can address my question. I bought a piece of jewelry Item # 23329 ES 2113 on 10/23/24. I paid cash to the cashier - Marisela, but realized when I got home that in taking back the change, I had neglected to pick up the actual piece I bought. I would like to find out if that piece was set aside in case I came back. Hopefully someone reads reviews here. Thank you.

I bought a sweater for my son. He changed his mind before leaving the store. The worker said I could not return. That's silly.

One thing about going to a new city is how you imagine an area in your mind's eye, sometimes…read moredoesn't match the reality. Knowing that this outdoor shopping center was 3 stories and had over 30 stores, I expected the area around it to be like a city center, with heavy foot and car traffic, lots of noise, and business advertisement. Instead, I wasn't sure if we were in the right place, because the neighborhood looked residential. The city planners/architects did a really nice job to implement this intention. The shopping center first opened in 1960, as an open-air courtyard style with a luxury department store, unheard of at the time for a town that small. Throughout the years, it hosted a major department store chain (Saks Fifth Avenue) as well. Now, in keeping with Carmel's intention to not have any national brand retail in it's city limits, the majority of stores/restaurants at this mall are local (though there are exceptions like Tiffany & Co, Anthropologie, and Brunello Cuccinelli). We got lucky and found free street a block from the center. Even on a Monday late morning, it was quite busy with tourists and locals alike hanging out in the main courtyard. A really nice feature was the large outdoor gas firepit that people were using to keep warm. We had come for a particular restaurant, but were informed that they were closed for the day for a private event (no signs or mention on their website)...I guess that's how this particular business rolls.

The center has three different levels with stairs in the middle and each side or if you desire an elevator, there is one on the end. During the weekend or summertime when it's busy, parking can be a challenge. There is a parking garage not far away if the street is full. If that is full, you may need to walk a bit. There is also some great places to eat such as The Flying Fish, a coffee shop, and a wine maker or two. In the center of the plaza, there is space to sit and enjoy the environment-just find some shade if it's warm!

Fabulous shop, beautiful hats, with a knowledgeable proprietor…read more I had a suspicion that Michael G and Aiden C would try to cause trouble. I was in the shop when the so called "brash and unfriendly" treatment towards "trans and non-binary people" occurred... What I saw/heard was a shop owner trying to protect his product. The hat in question is lovely. Obviously the owner's wife put in a lot of time and care. The proprietor asked the obviously sweaty, visually male customer not to try on the "women's" hats. Did I think this was because he is "homophobic/transphobic""? No. Women's hats run smaller than men's hats. No one wants to try on a hat (men's or women's) that was tried on previously by a sweaty, big headed person. It isn't like you can take a hat home and wash it in the laundry. Quality hats are not play things to try on and possibly damage, stretch, or dirty. If you are a sweaty mess, you have no business trying on any hat. Also, it was not the shop owner who asked you to leave... you said "well I guess I won't try on any hats then" to which the owner replied, "You can do what you want. Maybe next time you will ask the proprietor to help you find an appropriately sized product before you go stuffing your over-sized, sweaty self in it.

It was a little pricy at $110, but we like to support local art. The attendant gave us a new one in the box, instead of one already hanging that we were looking at. When we got home to Arizona, I unpacked the item, and found a MADE IN CHINA TAG!!! They appear to buy cheap art from China, and mark it up. If you want to support local art, find another store.

Now, I…read moreexpected that things would be expensive, I mean it's a gift shop for tourists (i.e., things will be overpriced) and at Big Sur (i.e., an area where everything is overpriced). But if you look at something in this gift shop, and think about what would be an overpriced price for it, and then double that, then you'll almost be at the price for it. Like there was this tiny little jar of local salt that was about the size of a thimble, and I thought oh that's cute, maybe that would be a nice souvenier, and then it was either $17 or $19 when I looked at the price. I mean it was tiny!! I mean, it was the kind of thing that should be like $3, but I thought gift shop so probably $7 or $8, but no, more than double that. Things were crazy expensive, and the more I looked at things, the more it just pissed me off, and took away from the experience of even just looking at nice things without intention to buy. It made me want to leave the store. I've never had a feeling like that in any touristy gift shop I've ever been to in my life, not anywhere in the US including other coastal areas of CA, not overseas. It was also not friendly while you are browsing, nor welcoming when you walk in. I would not go here again, and I would not recommend it to friends.
