Worst customer service EVER. Me and my sister had stopped by the shopping center and she decided to…read moreenter elizabethW, while i stayed behind looking through other stores. When she came back to me she was in literal TEARS out of frustration because of the encounter she had with the staff from this location. She proceeded to explain to me how when she walked in three staff members which she described as the typical white girls ( blonde, tall, slick back and lots of jewelry) stayed by the cash registers and rather than attending to her like ANY OTHER STAFF AT ANY OTHER STORE WOULD DO they simply stared at her and mean mugged her. Mind you we're hispanic and you could tell from a mile away, so obviously this isn't something one would take lightly. She stayed in the store for a few minutes and decided to ignore the nasty stares she was receiving from the staff but she noticed how when another customer who was fully WHITE, the staff actually went over and attended them, asked them questions and all of that stuff. Now to me I see this as very obvious racism how come when a white person wants to come in now you want to be all up in their face asking if they need help but when it's a person of another race you wanna put stank faces on ??? what kind of person does that?. Overall this store has employees with disgusting behaviors who are clearly racist and I am beyond furious about it, DO NOT SHOP HERE.

This gallery is right next to First Awakenings' patio. When we had brunch Wednesday I looked at…read morethe pottery and glass in the window but it's currently open Friday to Sunday from 10-4. We stopped by today after brunch and I wandered through the gallery admiring the ceramics, glass, soaps and other wares. Everything is locally made, much of it by Bay Area artisans. Lovely music played overhead, classical guitar by a local musician. I chatted w/ the gallery owner, Karen Reynolds, who told me a bit about where the work came from. One of the most impressive pieces was a stunning Chanukah menorah made of stainless steel and copper. She told me it took the artist 130 hours to create! He's making the next one of bronze, which will take less time because of the respective properties of the various metals. I didn't even ask how much it cost. This one is made to hold candles, the next one oil. Alan came in heard the overhead music and asked about it. We mentioned the loss of both the classical and jazz radio stations here and how we've been stuck w/ a garbage station in the car. Karen mentioned that KRML was Clint Eastwood's station. It pleased me that he bought and brought it back to life. Alan bought a CD, but I know KRML's place on the dial, so I knew we could find it. We did and unfortunately it's not what it was. We listened to the CD in the car and it will be a lovely addition to our music collection. We'll probably return tomorrow before we head home so I can look at some of the pieces that have been calling to me. The gallery has been open in this location for 10 months. As of April 1 it will be moving to Carmel-by-the-Sea where it will be located on San Carlos between Ocean and 7th. I'm sure it will be right at home in its new location and wish Karen well. I look forward to visiting the next time we're in the area.
