Floor of elevator. The white shaded areas appeared to be bread or cracker crumbs or some kind of ground-in food. It was gross.

United put me up in this hotel (Montcler) due to a flight cancellation. This is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in, regardless of who paid for it. I arrived just before midnight on 7/18/25 and there were a bunch of screaming kids running around in the lobby. They appeared to have been playing out at the pool, and now coming into the lobby. Staff (only ever saw two people) and system was slow as molasses, towel on floor at front desk was evidently soaking up water from a roof leak over the desk/counter, food all over the floor in the elevator, carpets looked old and way overdue to be cleaned, toilet had a ring on it, no bedspread on bed, TV in room was only b/w and scrolled repeatedly on every channel. Upon checkout, I asked for a paper receipt, which never came due to the slow system. Finally agreed to share my email with them, very reluctantly. If this is a Wyndham hotel, it's gone down the tubes. Very seedy.

    Elevator not up to code

To be honest. To not try to get over on guest. My family and I moved from sandwich recently. So when I come home we stay here. It's not the best but didn't think it was the worst. I've been here a few times since my move. I have a lot of kids 6 to be exact two of them are adults so we get multiple rooms as that's what is required. I stayed here 03-07-2025 until 03-09-2025. I made sure everything was as clean I could make it when I left. On March 24th I woke up to the hotel charging me $250 for nail polish on carpet and walls. We never had polish. I disputed it. They refunded me on March 28th after the new management company let me know they did research and realized it wasn't from us and already there. Great I'm done. Or so I thought. I wake up on 4-11-2025 to see they charged me $700 basically for a fake reservation. I've been calling and trying to get it resolved. But notice I said I have been calling. They have yet to respond. Small claims is my next step. I'm going to be kind in leave the lady's name out. But she is blaming Expedia. Ummm that's who I always book through and never had this experience. This hotel will not be getting over on me. The elevator isn't up to code. The pool area needs a good cleaning. Room 320 smells like meat and not in a good way. 319 had a bucket under the bathroom sink. A contracted worker was told to handle a job even though he didn't work for the hotel. Just there for a maintenance job. He legit said those words to me. Never again will I stay here. I called my bank. Ordered a new card so good luck with the thievery next month. I'm sorry you don't get that business. But if you steal from us who try to keep you in business you don't deserve it. Also if I could rate it negatively. I would

Pros: - Outstanding service; an extremely customer-centric Hotel and company. (Run by Wyndham, which is notorious for being extremely guest oriented) - Immaculate inside and out, central air heating and air conditioning (I cannot stress the importance and quality of this enough), spacious standard rooms. - Reasonable prices. Cons - One of the rooms I had stayed in had a smokey smell, among others. - The 'deluxe suite' that I was upgraded to was simply a larger room, with an even smaller shower and restroom. - Virtually all of the rooms' views are of grass or a parking lot (this does seem to be the norm anywhere in Illinois outside of Chicago, though). I would like to give special thanks to two individuals working at this hotel: Kelly (bartender), and Cameron (female, concierge). Their diligence, kindness, and charismatic personalities made my stay a very warm and welcoming one.

Stayed on a Friday night Memorial Day weekend. Very quiet. Large Jacuzzi Tub. Everything was very clean. At first did not understand the room key/lights situation at first but overall a lovely place and will return.

Stained bedding which was just thin sheets, no blankets, comforters, nothing.

Talked to another lady in the lobby who said they had 1 towel for their entire family. Apparently the cleaning staff has to go home at 4pm whether they clean rooms or not. So the staff had to clean rooms. I'll update after our stay here but not a good start at all. Update: only getting worse. Came down for breakfast at 830.. no eggs, barely any bread, no bagels, no juices except cranberry, no coffee, no forks.. I mean the list goes on and on.. I tell the front desk and their response is yes there's a guy working back there and he's on it. He comes out with eggs and disappears again for awhile. I go back to the front desk to tell them again they might want to get him some help there is nothing to eat or drink and the lady doesn't respond and just walks away towards the breakfast area. No sorry we'll take care of it, not a word. She's goes into the breakfast area and puts forks out and leaves. He comes out puts coffee out but not much else. On top of that while this is going on I walk to the car and I see the guy outside smoking taking a break while people are waiting for food to eat. It's insane. Customer service here is terrible. Oh and the juice machine is leaking water and the floor is slippery. No one behind the desk cares at all. So the night we checked In the staff told us we should be comped for the first night because our room wasn't ready but corporate doesn't allow them to make decisions and everything has to be run through corporate. Well, corporate never responded to the inquiry so we were charged both nights. What a racket this place is. It's almost criminal. We will be filing a dispute with our credit card company and contacting corporate as well, but I don't expect to hear from corporate. Bottom line is.. Don't stay at this hotel!!

Adequate clean linens and towels, decent complimentary toiletries. Great water pressure. Good, quiet AC. Housekeeping was good, but we weren't demanding. Only two of us. TV was an older flat TV with no HDMIs and the cable channels selection was better than many. Wifi was mostly good, but phone reception was terrible in the room. Likely, a result of its location. There is no restaurant, but the bar is open on weekends and has a very limited bar menu. We didn't eat there. We preferred Bull Moose and South Moon BBQ. Drink prices were really reasonable for a hotel bar: $16 for two Kahlua/cream and two Budweiser. Continental breakfast was a nice surprise and the attendant knew how to set up a nice breakfast! Great service, very clean room and bathroom, a very good, free breakfast to start the day, so HELL YEAH!, we'll stay here again!

Breakfast was either brought to your room or eaten in the lounge. It was ordered the day before and brought to you in the morning, very nice. We were able to gather in the lounge and go at our own pace. We stay here every time we return to the area. The rooms (recently updated) have always been big, very well appointed and pristine. It's incredibly quiet and parking is right there and always available. The best part is the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The last time we came, they took great pains to help us get a (very hard) reservation at the student-run restaurant in the same building. They are also very knowledgeable about the area. The really good breakfasts are served at whatever time you want, either directly to your room or in the very nice lounge right next to the rooms. Why stay at a much more expensive and impersonal hotel when you can have a relaxed and quiet visit and save a bunch of money at the same time?

Family was due to check in 6/12-14. Only on Wednesday of the check-in week did family start receiving calls of cancellations due to no credit card on file, which was absolutely necessary for booking. The hotel staff was rude, the GM wouldn't return a call. They kept up until today's check in. They kept giving excuses of information lost due to system upgrade, insufficient funds, card expired, oh and card not on file after giving it to them 3 times. I went to check on status of the guest and was met with rude and unkind responses. They were not attempting to be accommodating. So much so front office manger David stood up and got in my face, then the GM Ahsan tore the guest paperwork up in my face, while not being willing to listen to steps that had been taken to provide them with accurate information for the 4th time. I requested they cancel 1 of the 2 rooms I booked, instead David cancelled both rooms on purpose and GM Ahsan told him to tell me he didn't want me in his hotel. Again, unprofessional and plain rude. They overbooked and were looking for any excuse to cancel rooms. Also, they said they couldn't let our party check in early, but upon arriving there prior to 3PM several guest were checking in. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who has an important event with out of town guest.

Fast forward to 2022, and after taxes I paid $165/night. I knew the prices went up but dang, that is incredible! Upon further consideration, I'm kind of annoyed. For those of you unfamiliar with the area-YOU ARE NOT IN CHICAGO! Chicago is still almost 2 hours away. Even Starved Rock is 30 minutes away. Princeton, I'm sorry to say, is not a cultural epicenter full of attractions that draw people in and away from a city that does have those things. In the past, I've appreciated the amount of effort that goes into decorating the lobby for Christmas. Now I'm thinking that if half the effort was put into the rooms, versus the lobby, we may be getting a little closer to the cost vs quality ratio. I did notice that room had vinyl flooring and zero carpet. I liked that, as we all know how icky carpet can be. Yet the dated panther picture was way too reminiscent of items available at a local truck stop. The linens weren't extra snuggly and there is no variety in the pillow department. Unfortunately, that left me with a crick in the neck and wishing I had brought my own. Moving along, there is a pool in this inn. I saw signs that said, "The spa is closed", so I think that was referring to said pool. The free breakfast is still being served to you by employees, which makes for long lines. Waffles are no longer available on the weekend either. What? So you're telling me all the amenities of staying in the Americinn are not available and you want to charge people more? How very American of you! You may think I'm being snarky. You may think my expectations are too high. Duh! All other places that charge that kind of money have extras that make your stay lovely. Snuggly linens, firm/soft selections of pillows, warm cookies when you check-in, etc. I will no longer stay at the inn, I'd rather drive the 2.5 hours back home than drop that kind of cash. After all, I come to this area because it's where I grew up. I know the demographics of customers is probably a mixture of: extended family of residents in surrounding communities, truck drivers, and a business person here or there. All that to say, this area is full of hard-working people. They aren't about that big city life, tossing money around, and treating themselves. Why would your rooms cost so much? Okay, enough of the rant. I will put my money where my review is and no longer pay these ridiculous prices.
