I spoke with 2 different reps over a 9 month period (basically tried switching reps to see if my experience was any different; it was not). They're all local NJ branches of a large mega-corp based out of California, so YMMV, but at least in the local Hoboken/JC/NYC metro area, there are a lot better options out there. Just call any established, well-rated, long-time traditional lender and you'll get much more low-pressure, personalized experienced than this chop-shop. Pretty sure everyone (including the most popular brokerages in Hoboken) just use them by default, either out of pure laziness/proximity or because "one hand washes the other," or simply from agents and clients not doing their own research to know that better options exist. Do your homework. There are plenty of better lenders out there. This is very much a "metro NYC experience," a rushed effort with little interest in actually taking the time to talk to you as a person, with a we-know-it-all, we're-the-best, just-trust-me-and-I'll-take-care-of-everything-and-how-dare-you-ask-me-questions attitude. Home buyers, you are not in the 5 boroughs anymore. This is New Jersey. Find a lender who will take time to thoughtfully and thoroughly explain all your options, answer your questions, give you a sense of the current market, and talk with you--not "at you" and over you. Tons of nicer and more patient, low-pressure lenders out there to deal with. And oh, BTW, their website is also clunky and buggy (couldn't even upload docs properly), and their rates were higher than most of their competitors too! P.S. I am closing on my condo this week, and it will definitely not be through loanDepot. Hard pass!!!

For 4 days this past February, due to overlapping checks and deposits, my balance dropped to $978. The bank levied a $10 fee, and will not reverse the fee. I think this is terrible customer service and hope no one who reads this ever uses any of the Haven Savings Bank branches. In a time when there are 100s of banks offering A LOT of incentives to open accounts with them, I'm astounded this bank could be so short sighted. I am closing my account ASAP which must be done in person. Grrr.
