    my mosaic project!!!!
    Ze'eva K.

I came here for a beginner mosaic workshop and had such a fun time. The space is creative and welcoming, with everything you need laid out and easy to use. The instructors were patient and encouraging, which made it easy to dive in even without any prior experience. I haven't grouted my piece yet, but I'll have to post the final product once I do. It was a great introduction to mosaics and definitely sparked my interest to keep going. Such a cool spot for trying something new in Austin.

Wow! I booked the intro class for my mom and I, but I got my dates mixed up. They were so accommodating and truly kind! This was such an amazing experience! You get so much creative freedom and choices! This was the best thing I've done in Austin!

Found this via EventBrite and was able to book a Saturday intro class. Perfect time at 2pm so not too early or too late. Arrived early to make sure I got parking, which wasn't an issue. The inside space is open and inviting with the main work area, lounge with sofa and chairs a small kitchen area with complimentary drinks (non alcoholic). Heather was the main instructor and after going over the safety and basics about mosaics she set us loose to find out substrate and materials. Their selection is fantastic! You can do sooo many things. I selected the yin/yang and did two different color of tiles. For the most part once I learned how to trim the tiles for key stone pieces it was smooth sailing. The second piece took half the time of the first. They hav a take home grout kit $15 or you can pay $25 to have them grout for you. I opted for them to grout and am awaiting a call for pick up. The pics aren't finished....bit still looks good. Can't wait to see it with the grout! I did two different grout colors soooo should be interesting. They also do open workshop hours daily so the class included an hour of open workshop in case you didn't finish in time.

I had advanced knowledge that I was coming here for a teambuilding event with some coworkers. That gave me plenty of time to scroll through the eight reviews that were currently here. If you plan on having an event here, they only have about 12 designated parking spaces, although I did spot a few more spaces behind the building opposite this one. The staff was fun and helpful, showing their passion for the art. Not only do they help you create your own small mosaic project, but they are very much involved with much larger projects as well. They did allow us to bring several pizzas to eat before we created our personal mosaic pieces. Our group had a great time interacting with the staff. If you're looking for something a little different to do with a dozen or so of your friends, you may wish to consider this option.

This was such a cool experience, and I would definitely go back. I've never done mosaics before, but the staff was so great and gave a wonderful tutorial and explained what we needed to do to make the whole process very simple. They had so many varieties of tiles to use and objects that we could mosaic. We chose the $25 option since it was our first time, so I made a coaster, and I really liked that they had examples laid out for you if you needed to use it as inspiration or as a guide. It's definitely pricey because you have to buy grout from them after you make your mosaic, which is $15 on top of the $25. I will say, with a small piece like a coaster, you can definitely get one grout and split it amongst a group of like 5 people if you're all getting the same color grout. My friend and I split a grout and we barely used any of it to finish our coasters.

This place is absolutely fantastic. Have the pleasure of meeting the owner's wife as well as one of the staff. Tucked away just off 183 and seventh Street. Large studio, where you have freedom to move around yet close enough to each other to have conversations. Did I mention the conversations?! What great people! Nice place to have a couple get together or for a large gathering or party. Not sure how artistic you are? Don't worry. You'll have a great time and they'll show you how to do it

A friend invited me to join in on this Beginners Workshop class on a Saturday afternoon. The drive out was a little long. Getting around the buildings was a little confusing. But the space inside is amazing!! The mosaics, the community, and the creative spirit...just what any art studio should be. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Everyone that signed up for the class also seemed warm and friendly, and ready to learn and work. Highly recommend giving this place a try, and taking your family or friends to make some mosaics!

The Mosiac workshop is awesome! So glad I picked this place. Walking in was A bit overwhelming they have so much, the ideas are endless the options are plenty! I had NO clue what I was doing, but Heather took us in and explained everything and showed us how to use all the tools which was so easy to use. She did check on us several times. The boss was there and he was so nice as well. I did stick to the simple square shapes . But after seeing everyone else's I could have did more of. Try mosaic instead of a basic look. Either way this was a great experience. Oh yeah they have a bidet how cool is that.

Had so much fun! Everyone was very friendly and willing to help. It was cool learning how to cut the glass and the different ways to do it. We took advantage of the Tuesday BOGO special which was an amazing deal. We finished the mosaics in the studio and took them home with grout kits (pics are prior to the grout being added). We both picked a $45 item and the take home grout kits were $15 each, totally worth it and we are already wanting to go again.

Went to a western themed workshop with a friend here recently to make mosaic boots. They have plenty of parking outside the building and it was easy to spot with the cooler outside, they are right next to the ceramic studio. I got there right at the class start time but they were pretty flexible to wait for majority of group to show up in case you got stuck in traffic. The studio is very clean and lots of cool pieces hanging around the space. All the different tiles are sorted into different bins so it was fun going around and collecting all the pieces. There wasn't too much instruction but the instructor was there to guide you if you had any questions. Most of it was pretty straightforward thankfully. Would definitely come back to do another class here! It's a 10/10 all around!

La Pena stuck out to me, cool place with beautiful artwork. I figured it would be a fun place to kill time before the next workshop. I was unfortunately wrong. This place was bizarre. I walked in and it was empty, just one woman behind the counter. There was no kitchen I could see so was wondering where the tacos came from. They are evidently catered in. They only had one type of taco left and it wasn't even late in the day, carne which was disappointing. A guy came out with another case with some black bean tacos so I took one of each. I was so confused as to where these tacos came from. I took a seat and unwrapped the tinfoil around my measly tacos and add salsa which was the best part. The woman who worked behind the counter was not inviting in the slightest, it almost felt like she didn't want me to be there. There was no music playing, no one in the joint and the woman working started vacuuming the space when I was still there which was so loud. I quickly grabbed my stuff and headed out. Really disappointing, and not quite sure what it even was. Two stars for the art.

The seating arrangement is also exquisite--the perfect iPhone Throne for, let's face it, probably dudes like me who wouldn't have come here on their own accord. Since it's a single-seater (with an ottoman!), the capacity is far more limited than the long bench at Outdoor Voices, so if you and I end up here at the same time, we'll need to fight for it. They had lots of unique flower shaped earrings that ranged around $32-44. They also sell kids clothes and gifts. The interior was a little dark. The dresses were mostly made of stretchy or comfy fabric. The dresses are more casual in nature (wrap dresses, summer dresses). They also sold bathing suits for around $80. I don't know if the bathing suits are made in-house.

In my pre judgement bias, I became suspicious the employee would want no part of me if he thought my pockets weren't deep enough. I couldnt have been more wrong.
