We had an amazing time at The Escape Game in Austin! TLDR: Highly recommend - You should play!! Staff were fantastic!! Toby was a very friendly and genuine game guide that made us feel great about our accomplishments and CJ was an awesome and generous host that got us hyped and left us feeling elated. I was visiting from The Bay Area, California for my birthday, and we decided to play The Heist. There were 5 of us, and 4 had played escape rooms before (not at this company). The room design was awesome, very intricate and detailed, and the puzzles were really well done and very fun (Zelda Ocarina of Time vibes in one puzzle). It had plenty of things for us to do and find solo, and then still come together to solve the puzzles as a group. We smoked it, escaping with over 20 minutes left, with no clues, so we were ecstatic! We got out of the room and much to my surprise they made me a hand-drawn birthday card!! So incredibly sweet, and totally made my day. Coming off of our high of escaping The Heist, we decided to try their hardest room, Prison Break (with a discount for playing same day!). We were split into two cells at first, which proved difficult because we weren't communicating as well as we should have been. We needed a little bit of guidance in the beginning, but once we were out of the cells we started working better as a whole team. The final room was my favorite, I completed a really cool chess puzzle and then there was a detailed bookcase one too that I managed to figure out! I personally felt very accomplished in this room and we managed to escape with around 7 minutes left! Overall, these rooms are meticulously designed and sets were immersive. The puzzles were clever and made you feel very smart when you figured them out, which made the rooms that much more fun. They really focus on teamwork, which amplifies the connection and good vibes of your friends and family. Guidance was kind and not overbearing, allowing you to struggle on your own before gently nudging you towards what was blatantly obvious in hindsight. You can tell that the staff there have a unique bond and really enjoy making the guests feel special. They made my birthday a super memorable one and I'm so happy I decided to come here. What a fun experience! Our group of 4 visited for a team building activity. Two of us never had been before and 2 of us had. We chose the Timeliner room. 7/10 difficulty. So right in the middle difficulty. We had a bit of a slow start even with some clues. We should have asked for more clues, but once we got started it progressed for us a bit quicker. If we had gotten started quicker we probably would have actually finished within the 60 minutes allowed. We made it to the last room, but I bet that would have taken us another 20 min or so to figure out. So bummer! But happy with how far we did actually get. I did wish we could have kept going to just finish it though. Wish they had an option to pay extra to just see and finish. Overall though I would go back to try another room and the staff was super friendly and helpful with giving us clues with requested. read more

This branch is always the best place for a good time. I've been to so many locations. And now I've been to the downtown location. Since I usually play with a team of 2 I never had a chance to play playground. And finally my time has come. And I LOVE playground. I think it's possibly the best game here. The way the room is so interactive. From the roll call section to team building. The actual slide inside is so much fun too! I had such a great time here. And the team that works here is very accommodating they're such a sweet team. And they're willing to go above and beyond for their customers. As always I would come to this company again. Been here countless times! Finished every room and replayed almost every room, the staff is nice and the rooms are always clean and fun. We come here for every special occasion, they always make us a card for birthdays/anniversaries which I know they do for everyone but it doesn't make it any less special, we hang them on the fridge, we have nearly 5 years worth of fun to reflect on when we see them each day. Even took my brother to the one in Houston and he loved it too!! My only complaint is that they don't have more rooms for us to solve!! Nevertheless, we will keep coming here and challenging ourselves to solve the rooms faster, plus, they have such good pricing for an escape room, other places around Austin are nearly twice as much with lower quality and far less rooms to play. We did the prison break room and as they claim its one of their most challenging room, it's quite true. We were out in two teams at first, not competing against each other but just finding ways in different ways. Good part is unlimited clues and no penalty. We got 60 mins to play it and we took around 15-20 clues. At first we were little hesitant and at the end, we're running against time. The arrangement is quite detailed and it was fun solving complex puzzles together. The person who we met at entry (sorry forgot his name) was really nice and had explained all the rules to us. At the end he was very patient and clicked some group pictures for us. You can carry your purse, wallet, keys etc. important stuff m, they do have place to keep it. Price is around 40 per person. Parking right is front was not available when we went there but plenty of roadside parking nearby and I think they have a parking lot too. read more

Super fun spot to check out! The rooms are so creative with fun back stories and puzzles that are easy enough to solve, but hard enough to make you feel accomplished when you do solve them. You do also get unlimited hints, but it's more fun to try to use as little as possible. If you don't have enough people in your group, they'll join you with another group, which isn't something I had seen before. But the people we were with were really nice, so we didn't mind! The workers are so friendly, and I feel like the escape game often has deals/coupons/discounts so it's pretty worth it! But make sure you go a little earlier than your slot, because you have to deal with downtown parking. read more

Such a great time! We had 4 groups for a work related event do 4 different Escape Games. We chose "The Heist" and 60 minutes to get through it. So much fun to work in our group to collaborate an "Escape". We ended up completing the mission with 19 minutes to spare and using 5 clues (which are unlimited but we tried not to use but we running into some roadblocks). What I always look for when I do escape rooms is the production quality and they definitely achieve that here. Their rooms are really interactive and I always leave happy. The game masters are also attentive and are there to help if you need anything. You do get unlimited hints but we always try completing the rooms without any hints unless we are truly pressed for time and are completely stumped on a puzzle. I've completed quite a few of their rooms here and will continue to return. I only hope they would open up another location that's closer to me one day. Another huge plus personally for me is that they also sell digital escape rooms that you can do with friends/family online. I believe you can only buy these in person but you get a link and a code that you can share with other people. It's a virtual puzzle so anyone anywhere in the world and play it with you. Once the puzzle is solved, you can reset it and replay it if you want as well. I've done one of the puzzles so far and my friends and I had a great time. It's very well designed for the price of it. Hopefully they come out with more of these soon because I would happily buy them all. read more

Our first (and certainly not last) experience with Escape Game Austin did not disappoint! First impressions were fantastic with their THOUSANDS of glowing reviews and an extremely well done website. I especially love how they had trailers for the rooms! Online reservation is super simple, but they don't allow for private bookings. My husband and I wanted to escape on our own and ended up booking last minute during non-peak hours in to avoid others joining our time slot. This may not be poss for those with less flexible schedules. We had an awesome time solving the Gold Rush room. Definitely do-able with a pair of two with some prior experience and hints; I'm actually not sure I'd recommend the max capacity of 8 people, given the relatively smaller space. Content-wise, the room was very on theme and well-designed. There was a nice variety of puzzles, but the mechanisms got pretty redundant towards the end of the hour. We also ran into a few snags with malfunctioning props as we advanced. Thankfully, the staff kept a close eye on us and talked us through them. Speaking of, service was excellent. Our guide, Kristin, had great energy the whole way through. After our game, she gave us a sneak peek of the other rooms (it was a slower day) and offered some sick discounts for booking our next room before we left. V cool how they have so many locations and gift cards are redeemable anywhere. Thanks for a fun time. We'll be back!! read more

We had come to town to visit my sister in law, and decided to treat her to her first escape room. My youngest loves the Escape games that this company has done and is on a mission to do as many as he can. Over the last couple of years he has gotten to do all of the ones in the DFW area as birthday and holiday gifts. (We're aiming for experiences over physical gifts!) So, while here we tried out Classified. Which was a ton of fun! The front desk staff was super sweet. We had forgotten his Passport at home so they filled a new one out for him while we did our game. Let's just say.. my boyfriend and I came to play one room and when we finally left, we escaped 4 rooms! We got a "passport" to collect pins so now we're on a mission to complete them all! TLDR: Great rooms, amazing friendly staff, fun game masters, recommend for escape room enthusiasts! Weekdays they have 40% off if you book a second game right after your first (which we took full advantage of it - 20% on the weekend) ORRR you can also buy a a game (gift) card with 20% off! Also the workers here are fans of escape rooms and will nerd out with you! FYI: Game rooms are not private. You will be grouped with other people if they also sign up for the same room and time. If you want to try and get a "private" one, I recommend weekdays mid day or late on the weekends! We didn't get grouped with anyone in any of our rooms but we also went late in the night and came back mid-day. The rooms here are really thought out well and super well designed and crazy details. Their immersive rooms have been the best we've experienced so far. Keith was our first game master and he really hyped us up before we started and when we completed the Heist! We had our game face on and went straight into it! Without giving hints this gave us national treasure vibes. If you're a fan, this is the room for you! Keith gave us great hints. We would always be on track but would need a nudge here and there without giving us direct answers. Spencer was our second game master for the Timeliner. This ended up being our favorite. The room has a high tech set up which really adds to the experience and engagement. Spencer gave us great hints when we needed just a nudge. We would be on the right direction but then get in our heads about the puzzle. He made sure to just give us the right direction without giving us the answer. Totally recommend this room. Kristin was our third for the Depth. Loved this room. We heard this was another staff favorite and had to try it out. Another great immersive room. Inside is really cool with the feel of being in a submarine. Kristin gave us great clues for this one. We got a little more help here. The ending is really cool! No spoilers! But make sure you make it out to win!! Camille was our last game master for Classified. This is their oldest room and not as immersive, however the puzzles are still really fun. This is made more for people into puzzles. Don't overthink them! haha once you start getting the ball rolling, you'll get through it! With Camille's help we were able to make it out! We hope every game master enjoyed watching us through our adventure as we enjoyed their help through the rooms. Forest, the team lead, was great to engage with and gave us great tips and recommendations for other locations and rooms! Our group of 5 completed Classified with time to spare. Friendly and energetic staff! This was the first escape room we did in Austin, but holding this escape room to others. Scope - was not a very large scale escape room, and the lack of depth was noticeable. The puzzles were also more linear, requiring one puzzle usually needing to be solved in order to progress, as opposed to a more open order. Tech - some cool tech but a lot of combination locks, which feels a tad simplistic. I enjoyed some props but it lacked a lot of the high end tech from some other rooms I've done. Story / immersion - it was hard to get into the story. Believe it or not, some escape rooms really immerse you and that's hard to beat. Overall ranks in the 3rd quartile of all escape rooms I've done. Tech 2/5 Story 3/5 Of note, this location also offers Prison Break, which I did in their Orlando location! I really enjoyed. It would be perfect for a larger group (we had 4 guys & 4 girls). Would highly recommend. read more

Had the BEST time at the escape room experience in downtown Austin! Had done one of these before and wasn't sure what to expect going into this one. From the front desk staff to our game leader Jordan, everything was amazing. The staff was upbeat, positive, and looked like they were happy working there which is always a plus. The place itself is super well designed, welcoming, and clean upon arrival. We only did one of the rooms but it was crazy well detailed, it looked like we were in a movie set. And every time I thought we had almost cracked it they kept you going! Jordan had to give us some clues along the way but we finally made it and escaped the Gold Rush room! My team was visiting the area and wanted to do an escape room that could accommodate a group of 8+ and that didn't have any elements of fear, and the escape game was the perfect fit! We did the Playground room a school themed experience that was rated 6/10 difficulty. There are unlimited hints that don't add any penalties and screens that convey the hints! I really liked this difference, because in other escape rooms I've visited they usually have speakers that the game master share hints through audibly. It was a really fun experience that had a lot of moving parts that required a few of us to work on each of the items and then come together with our results. It was a great room for team building! We had 60 minutes and finished with 13 minutes to spare! You have the opportunity to purchase an "I escaped" T-shirt if you win. They also have a great discount of about 40% if you would like to do another room immediately following or a 20% discount for scheduling your next room. They also have water bottles, drinks, and other merch for purchase. There is a parking lot at the end of the corner that you do have to pay for but is very close. They require a legal waiver from each customer; and make it difficult for you technically. No simple piece of paper to sign; no. For my bachelor weekend we went and did the Gold Rush room. We did best it and get out with 18 minutes to go. It was such a cool experience and had some twists and turns for sure. Jackson was such a fun gig and made us feel so welcome. We loved it soooo much we came back this morning and did The Heist room and we got out with 22 minutes left. Hands down, the best escape room in Austin, and I've been to 6 others. This company has incredible set designs, props and excellent puzzles. We eagerly await the addition of new rooms, as this last one we did, the Depths, meant we've done all of their rooms. Hopefully, that says something, that as local aquatints, we go back time and again. So much for a family outing or get together with friends, especially if you love puzzle solving a trying something different. Very cinematic, these rooms are, with movie quality props and special effects. You can see clearly how much time and effort was put into making these "escapes" as realistic and exciting as possible. This place was amazing fun for the kids and adults! It was our 1st ever Escape room and we enjoyed every bit of it! Logan was our team guide and he was great with the kids. We did the Playground room and were able to escape within 8 seconds remaining. - The cherry on the top was that Logan and the staff noticed my kid had a birthday pin on her jacket and once we escaped Logan canme in and handed her this surprise -signed by all the staff - hand written Birthday card with her name on it!
