Yep. 5 stars. I can't find anything bad to say. This hotel is beautiful and well appointed. From the staff at the desk to the cleanliness it is top notch. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean with many extra touches to make your stay comfortable. The complimentary breakfast is above average. There is a beautiful square/park across the street giving a great place for a stroll. The town has many great restaurants and shops all within walking distance. read more

We stayed here last week while in town for the NCSAA tournament. Our group took over the hotel, but the staff remained on top of keeping everything clean and tidy and taking great care of us! We finally had the opportunity to book a room here & were blown away by the charm & beauty of the place. It's very old-world, but completely renovated. Location is terrific, right in the heart of beautiful downtown Mount Vernon. Rates were on par with other, much less charming, hotels. The rooms were clean & nicely decorated. I didn't discern any air fresheners, but the room just smelled nice. The bathroom was beautiful marble tile & soooo clean. The amenities were great...I was pleasantly surprised to find they supplied the rooms with Aveda bath products! They even provided two pairs of terrycloth slippers inside the armoire. Everything was very functional, from the charging ports in the lamps, to the sink & vanity outside the bathroom so you don't have to do your hair/makeup in a steam room! The window had beautiful & heavy velvet curtains that completely blocked out all light. The beds were super comfortable, with a nice variety of pillows & supremely soft bedding. The staff was all very friendly & helpful. The complimentary hot breakfast was decent, with eggs, sausage, biscuits & sausage gravy in addition to pastries, fresh fruit & several flavors of yogurt. When the guests in the neighboring room entered their room I heard them clearly & thought "Oh no", but as soon as they got into their door we never heard anything else out of them, so the soundproofing must be pretty good. The only cons we experienced were the variety of "extra" lights in the room, in the form of the refrigerator temperature light, which was an aggressive blue LED, the thermostat light, which was a somewhat less aggressive yellow LED, and an annoying blinking white light on the smoke detector. These made it more difficult to fall asleep, but once I got to sleep I slept very well thanks to those comfy beds. First time staying at this beautiful hotel, and we hope to return! read more

Stayed one night. Room was very comfortable and clean. Staff was very nice. On this stay, I didn't use the exercise room. It was small, but above average for this size hotel. I didn't use the pool, but some families seem to enjoy it. Breakfast was standard for Holiday Inn Express and above average for hotels this size. Lots of options to choose from. Parking lot was adequate, but small if you have a bus or towing a trailer. Restaurant next door and a number of stores and restaurants within a 10 minute walk. read more

If you have ever been to a small town you know the hotel options are always less than Stellar. It's nice to say that's no longer the case here! The property itself is very nice and well kept, the staff was friendly (even managed to get us an early check in when fully booked the night before) and the rooms where clean. All the basics where covered. We had a king room and I will say the shower was the unexpected surprise of the stay! Our room also had a mini fridge that I didn't expect to find. The "breakfast" at the hotel is meh, there are plenty of breakfast options close by so skip the continental. However even with the breakfast being meh I will give this 5 stars as it's that far ahead of any other hotel in town. Not a b&b fan so this has become our stop. Side tip! Go see Stacy, norm & erron over at flappers. Always our first stop in town. Great food and company. read more

This is a really beautiful hotel, and while I wouldn't give it 5 stars compared to all places I've stayed in, it certainly deserves 5 stars compared to everything else in the area. It has a beautiful, open lobby that always has coffee, hot water for tea & hot chocolate, and iced lemon water available; a fireplace room with several chairs and couches, and a good size breakfast area. We were in a king suite that had a separate living room area, a very nice bathroom with a stall shower (no bathtub), and a decent view of the town square. Breakfast was good, and it consisted of some variety of meat (sausage, bacon, etc), eggs, hashbrowns, biscuits & gravy, toast, bagels, pastries, cereal, fruit, etc. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. This is the only place in town I'd stay if I'm in the area again. read more

A brand new hotel built on the site of an old hotel, The Grand tries its best to give the feel of an old hotel, and it succeeds in a way. The lobby and adjoining rooms are nice, and everything is clean and well kept up. Our room was quite small and had an awful view (dirty roof and dingy windows of an old building next door). The beds are super soft -- so soft that you may feel that you're falling off if you're close to the edge. The shower in our room looked great but the water pressure was the equivalent of standing under a watering can that was being poured over your head very slowly... the kind of shower that does not remove soap or shampoo very well. Breakfast was free and looked nice but was mostly membership warehouse-type food and was quite underwhelming. We got an "Ooooooh, I'm sorrrrry" and cute little frowny face from the front desk when we mentioned how terrible the shower was. read more

This hotel was amazing.. originally built in 1800's and now newly constructed and it's beautiful. We had a king suite on the corner with views of the downtown square and it was such a treat. We had a one night ladies retreat here. I have to say it was an amazing experience! The stuff was so attentive and easy to work with. The meals were tasty and always on time. The rooms! Everything about the room was fantastic! Very clean and the beds were heavenly to sleep in. The farmers market in the square was a fun extra and he downtown is very cute. We will be back for sure! Beautiful hotel set right in the downtown square. Great design, awesome rooms, perfect accommodations for smaller conferences. The free breakfast was decent work hot protein every morning of our 4 day stay. The rooms were very well done, I loved the king room I had. Downtown Mt. Vernon needs more good restaurants in walking distance but the food at Flappers across the square is surprising good. The chef is a restaurant chef. There are other great restaurants within a short 10 minute drive. The beds were very comfortable though the pillows were too squishy for my neck. Water pressure a little light for the shower but okay. Bathrooms are roomy and I like the set up with the sink counter outside for 2 people. I would look forward to staying here again. The hotel staff has been very friendly, accommodating, and made a great experience. There are great seating rooms. They always have coffee, high quality tea, enfused waters, and fruit free and available. They will bake cookies on request. And even though they don't allow alcohol in the main room, they are polite about asking you to take it to your room. Very respectful. read more

I am so disappointed and frustrated with this place and will never stay here again. Spent over 45 minutes trying to contact them by phone to make reservations for my son's 2019 graduation; beginning at 10pm this evening as instructed, and could not even get thru to be put on hold on their antiquated phone lines - and at least to be taken in turn; by the time I got through having re-dialed close to 30 times-and wasted 45 minutes , all that was available was a $459 suite/ there's no part of that hotel worth even half that amount! There aren't many other hotels in the area - but I would rather drive to the next city than stay at the not so Grand! read more

This was hands down one of the worst experiences I have had at a hotel. I booked on the phone with one of their staff for one of the hotel blocks since I was staying there for my friends wedding. They never sent me a confirmation email even though I called multiple time over the following weeks to confirm my stay and ask again for them to send it in an email. Never received. Not anywhere in any email not spam or junk or trash. First day goes fine. The woman with pink hair check us in and was amazingly friendly. I wake up to our check out documents slid under the door even though we were booked for two nights which I confirmed the day before arrival with their staff on the phone. I went to the front desk to see what was going on and before I even began to talk the morning front desk person Lex was clearly already in a mood and being rude. She insisted we made the mistake and that we booked online and they were full and there was nothing she could do and we needed to be out of the room within an hour. She admitted that their system has issues with sending out confirmations and then also added that she couldn't help us because we didnt HAVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL? She called her boss Kelly who also did not help at all. When I finally gave up and asked her to walk us to another hotel she called to one down the street and I confirmed with her twice that the room would be available for us when we got down there and she said yes. We of course got there and the room was gone. We had to end up driving the over 3 hours home at 1 am after our friends wedding. The final kick in the pants was that they charged us the regular room rate and not the wedding block rate. And Kelly they general manager never returned any of our numerous calls. Absolutely beautiful! We had a king suite and had plenty of room for family to come and hang out before going anywhere in town. Easy to walk to all places downtown. Easy in and out and the staff was great! Joe at the front desk was great with my family and all their questions. Will stay here agin the next time we come to town. read more

The Mount Vernon is a beautiful new hotel that is about 8 minutes from Kenyon. The rooms and bathrooms are beautiful, and the staff is excellent. Quick story: I left my jewelry behind in a little satchel. Before I even realized it was gone--not in a hurry to unpack--it arrived on my doorstep. The hotel staff overnighted it to me without so much as a phone call. Needless to say, we will be returning to the Mount Vernon Grand for every trip to Kenyon. read more
