French toast with bacon and maple syrup. Also available: fresh fruit, muffins, cereals, bagels, coffee and tea.

Gorgeous outdoor space, friendly service, lovely breakfast, and comfortable beds - but my bathroom was not the best (old shower curtain, and vanity shelf falling off the wall) although it was clean. Two callouts: Internet service was truly terrible during my stay in late August 2024. The manager and owner did what they could, even offering access to their admin network, but ultimately I had to go elsewhere to work. Also, when I asked for a bagel to go for my kid, they thoughtfully packed it with plenty of cream cheese, napkins, and a knife.

The Mount Vernon Inn is a wonderful location to stay! My room was very clean and spacious- even with a walk-in closet, a microwave/dorm-sized refrigerator, and a rain shower head. On site, off street parking. Motel style single floor entry off a shared courtyard. Check in from 3- 10 PM and check out by noon. Kate was wonderful managing the breakfast room. The continental breakfast is self-service while waiting for ordered menu items (included in room cost)- can invite a non-guest friend to breakfast for $12. I hope to return for another stay!

Well let me preface that I normally don't review lodging. However, in this instance I had nothing short of a perfect two-night stay so I will share. Layout wise this is kind of like a bed and breakfast meets a motel. The Inn has a main house with deluxe rooms as well as a kitchen that will serve a free made to order breakfast, which was outstanding the morning that I had it. Also, you can receive a free happy hour drink here if you so choose. The rest of the rooms are arranged in kind of an L shape around an outdoor common area. This would be perfect to sit outside and do some computer work except the time I was there was end of September and it was too hot to be out (although they do have outdoor fans). From talking the staff, the owners acquired the property ~4 years ago if I remember correctly and have been reinvesting in the Inn and it definitely shows. If you have the chance I would definitely recommend a stay here.

I have never stayed at a non-chain hotel in a town the size of Mount Vernon Ohio. That said, I am so glad that I went outside of my comfort zone for the Mount Vernon Inn. This property is on unlike anything I have ever seen. It's a combination of a remodeled L shaped motel from the 50s and a scattering of houses that are available for lodging. If my room (The White Pine) is indicative of the others, you are doing yourself a disservice by staying at a chain hotel in Mount Vernon (or any hotel other than here). Everything is tastefully decorated and there are interesting and welcome details. The courtyard area is gorgeous, and the main building, where breakfast is served, is very pretty. Made-to-order reakfast, for that matter, is delicious and complementary. Additionally, they provide a complementary beer or glass of wine in the evenings. High recommended.

It was an amazing atmosphere even with the power out in all of Mount Vernon. The chef was amazing for breakfast.

A beautiful hidden gem close to downtown. The gardens and atmosphere are so charming. I would definitely stay again.

My husband…read moreand I decided to try the Hillsboro location, and were really excited to be some of the first people who experienced the new Treasure Island suite. The location isn't hard to find, but remember you're looking for a house, not a traditional hotel. Check-in was a breeze and from the moment you enter the suite, you are plunged into what I can only describe as a romantic escape room. I don't want to give away too many things, because half of the fun is discovering all that your suite has to offer. However, I will say that you will not be disappointed if you love mysteries and grew up on choose your own adventure books and Scooby Doo. In addition to all of the fun things, the room has to offer, details have been meticulously, thought of, from plush robes to snacks. You never really have to leave the room if you don't want to. We did decide to take a break about halfway through to enjoy a restaurant in the area, which was another bit of nostalgia, because I had not seen a Ponderosa buffet since I was a kid. Two things to note to make your stay better. First, take advantage of the full-time you have the room. This is one place that you want to arrive as soon as check-in is available at 5PM and check out at the very last minute 11AM so you can really enjoy everything. Next, even if you are really moving quickly the experience takes 3 to 4 hours, so be prepared for that. You can definitely move at your own pace, but just know there's a lot to uncover. Overall, this place is a gem. I would absolutely return and try a different adventure, but honestly Treasure Island was so much fun I would do it again.

There was music playing and it was uniquely decorated, like we were stepping into a whole different world. The clues were more difficult than we expected which was great! Behind each hidden door is a new experience. This is better than any escape room you've ever done. While the house is shared with other couples each suite is completely private. When entering our room it felt like we were the only ones in the whole place. The only reason we knew other people were there is because we saw cars out front and could hear people talking from the shared staircase. Book a room. You will not be disappointed.
