I am so impressed with this company. Bob, the Moving Consultant of Alberta First Choice Moving Systems and his team do excellent work under difficult circumstances. I just moved from Edmonton to Vancouver and as you know so much has changed due to Covid 19. It is affecting everything! Such a stressful time. Bob of Alberta First Choice Moving Systems was the only person who actually come to my one bedroom apartment to give an estimate of how much my move would cost. Social distancing was observed. My son helped me with all this and he collected several bids from different moving companies. Alberta First Choice was the best bid. I have 3800 pounds of stuff! I am almost 60 and it is all my precious memories and things... I bought U Haul boxes cause they are the best deal, around $2 for the large ones. I bought 45, used all but 7. I bought really good duct tape. You don't want your stuff falling out of the bottom of boxes on the street. Cheaper duct tape is not a good idea. This moving company wraps your furniture in heavy blankets, pretty sweet really. The day the moving gentle men came to load up my stuff was amazing. They were super fast and polite. They observed physical distancing and wore masks. These guys are strong!! I have lead crystal (seriously, I collect it at thrift stores). I tried to even the weight out in the boxes...if I had heavy things like books on the bottom of a box I put light things like towels and clothes in the rest of the box. But they were still pretty heavy. Sorry guys, I tried, lol... When my stuff arrived in Vancouver the moving guys unloaded it super fast and carefully. I had cleared the whole kitchen area to put the boxes as they arrived so it was less chaotic. And because the boxes were all the same size they could be stacked neatly. All the furniture went into the bedroom to make it easier to organize later. 2 drinking glasses broke during the move but only because I did not pack them properly. I got tired of packing and just kind of threw the last ones in a box. An Ikea dresser got wonky when it arrived after it's journey but I had moved that dresser 2 or 3 times already and moving is tough on Ikea furniture. My son was able to fix it. No problems. But everything else was fine, which is amazing when you consider it was all packed by me, I am no expert, and it had to be driven in a giant semi truck 1200 km in the winter over the mountains! So I am finally unpacking my pretty things here in Vancouver, and my new place is looking pretty great. Not fancy, but cozy and comfortable. I want to really thank Bob and his great team of guys for helping me make this big move in kind of scary times, most of the world on lockdown due to the virus...I wish you and your families all the best!! I am writing to respectfully express my considerable dissatisfaction with the services rendered by Mover Guys. While their 4-star rating suggested a high standard until I read reviews from other review sites, my recent experience unfortunately highlighted a concerning absence of professionalism and proficiency. JT has an expletive mouth and attitude. In no uncertain terms, he told me to take down my review. I did for a while, but I will not have someone tell me what I can or cannot do! Having undergone numerous relocations, I have not previously encountered such a shortfall in packing quality--no blankets for furniture or mats on our plank flooring (which we requested). They literally threw our cutlery in the box without wrapping them and broke my canister set, among other things. To be more specific, items were not sufficiently wrapped or secured with tape, and the packing of the kitchen, storage room, and bedrooms was left unfinished. Upon the delivery of my belongings, several pieces of furniture were damaged, exhibiting scratches, dings, and a broken nightstand. Additionally, the bed was assembled incorrectly, which required us to call the store from where we purchased the bed and have them rebuild it. Not only that, but garbage spilling from the paper shredder created a considerable mess in the office area. I was quite dismayed when our request for them to return and complete the work was met with laughter and a statement that an additional charge would be incurred. She did say she understood at the time of the booking and the day before her move as well (we always call a day or 2 before the move date and go over all details again). We also go over the invoice and all costs before we start the job as well. We always make sure the customer understands everything before we proceed and if we are told that all is understood, then we assume it is. I did explain everything again and again for about a half hour the next day to her boyfriend and he would not listen. Took 3.5 hours and charged me over $700.00 They also broke an antique, blaming me and the manufacturer of the piece for the damage. The supervisor, Jesse Toore (please remember this name), showed up and told me that these things happen and there wasn't anything they would do. After showing him that the damage was clearly the movers fault, he suddenly "knew a guy" who could fix it. Keep in mind this is an antique and my grandfather's. I said fixing it through an unknown wasn't what I wanted. Jesse then told me he could ask his boss for a discount on the move, but I had to pay the total amount immediately, and he would get back to me. He then "accidentally" got the math wrong three times and added a credit card fee, despite the fact I wasn't paying by credit card Jesse Toore has no boss, he is the boss and only listed employee of the business. He is the Operations Manager and Principle Owner. It has been over 24 hours, and they are now refusing to do anything. They are not professional. They care very little for their clients or their property. They are incredibly inefficient and will suddenly find reasons to charge you extra fees, they never mentioned during their quote. *Note* After more unpacking, I discovered glassware had been broken, & they even managed to lose some of my clothes! Absolutely flawless experience. The mover guys handled my four hour move back in September of this year, and the two gentlemen that showed up were incredibly professional and respectful. Not only did they know exactly what they were doing, but they transported my household items to my new home, without anything being broken or damaged. They will forever be my go-to movers. I organized a move for my Mom within the same building. She has huge and heavy items, including a medical bed. Nathan and his coworker faced a tough day. The elevator I'd reserved was double booked...I won that argument. We were 90% thru the move when not only the only other elevator on a 23 story building broke down, but so did ours. Our guys got stuck on the 5th floor! They even finished the move by climbing the stairwell with 2 huge China cabinets! To add insult to injury, at the end of this move they then had to haul their dollies and hand truck down 10 flights of stairs after 3 hours of hard work. Pretty disappointed with the mover guys. We were in a 2 bedroom apartment but basically a one bedroom because no furniture in one bedroom. Some how it took 4 hours which ended up costing 700.00. They were arguing back and forth while unloading the truck which was pretty unprofessional considering the language they were using. Also scratched my brand new dresser and dining table which didn't really seem to care or knock an amount of the total. Asked the younger guy to take his shoes off on my new carpet in the new place and just looked at me and said they were dry and accused someone of smoking weed because of a bottle he saw which was supplements from GNC, which if someone was its none of his God damn business. Overall not satisfied would never recommend to family or friends. Would rather rent a uhaul and do it myself. Probably would have gotten done faster. read more

We hired this company to move us yesterday. We were told they'd show up at noon. As the day progressed, that time moved later and later. They finally showed at about 5:30pm. We were forced to ask if we could reschedule to today, as the move should have been COMPLETED by the time they finally showed! We have a 4yo autistic boy that needed to go to bed around 8pm and they said the move would take until about midnight-1am!! The head guy called the owner, who agreed to get a bigger truck and be back at our place at about noon today. He said to call at 10am today to be sure they were on time. When my husband called, the man hemmed and hawed about even doing it at all. He said that two of the men said they didn't want to come back to our place. There's nothing unusual about our household items! No mirrors or any packing to help with. Very organized and ready to go! As a result of how the man was behaving, my husband told him forget it and we hired a different moving company. Called a different company *this morning* and they showed up about *two hours later* with zero complaints or issues, ON TIME, and are already about halfway done filling the truck with our things! Far and away MUCH more professional and polite than The Mover Guys!! Don't waste your money! Don't waste your time! PM me if you'd like the name of the AWESOME moving company we're using! And to The Mover Guys...if you don't fix the way you run your company, insist that your guys DO THEIR JOB and indiscriminately move the people they're hired to move, and show up in a decent amount of time to when you say you will, YOU WILL GO OUT OF BUSINESS!! I've used this moving company twice, and have been extremely impressed both times. The gentlemen doing the moving have been punctual, friendly, and organized. They were able to get both moves done very quickly and efficiently, with no damage to my home or any of my belongings. They are careful with my things, and very honest about their rates and times. If you can actually get them to show up for a scheduled appointment then consider it a win. I contacted the Mover Guys on a Thursday to schedule the moving of one sectional couch from our vacant property to our new home. The man I spoke with on the phone was rude and condescending. He said we could not leave the vacant property open because he needed someone to sign paperwork confirming there was no damage. He argued with me when I told him the couch did NOT have legs and told me "when I get there and spend time removing couch legs you'll be paying me more money". At this point I didn't feel I needed to be spoken to in that manner and I disconnected the call. After not being able to find another company, my boyfriend called back to schedule and confirm that the couch did not have legs. We booked for Monday at 12 (on Thursday, so a few days in advance). Monday comes around and at 1:30pm we had not heard from the movers so my boyfriend called to check. They said someone had quit and they were so swamped and it would need to happen at 5pm. My boyfriend received two more calls, moving the appt to 8pm and then cancelling all together and rescheduling for the following day. This time the movers told him it was fine if the place was open and no one was there - a different story than what I was told. My boyfriend was unable to meet them between 10 and 12 as he had a meeting, he was very clear and told the movers this. On Tuesday what time do they call and say they will be there? Noon. My boyfriend rushed out to the vacant property and the movers didn't show up for another half an hour. Once they arrived the couch was packed up quickly and delivered to our new home. It is just a shame it was such a headache to get that done. The Mover Guys Website notes they will take old furniture as donation, what it doesn't explain is this needs to be prearranged with the charity and it costs extra. We were told "we need to change the wording". I have also noticed that whenever the Mover Guys receive a negative review they back it up with either saying they have no record of it, or by giving out personal information about the people making the reviews. In this case I have no personal information to air so please, think carefully before scheduling a move with these guys. This was extremely stressful for us. The movers charge less than other companies and I understand why-you pay for what you get. read more

We had the misfortune of using The Mover Guys (www.moverguys.com aka Alberta Mini-Movers Inc.) for a move in June, 2014 (a little break for the back - just have them come in and move some of the heavier pieces). What a disaster. The first sign was when they showed up 2 hours late and the rate was suddenly $10/hour higher than quoted just a couple of days earlier. (They also charge an hour travel time regardless of where they are in the city.) It went downhill from there. I'm not sure if the two so-called movers had ever moved anything before. I've moved over 30 times in my life, almost always DIY, and probably helped in another 100 or more moves. I've never seen anybody so awkward or not understanding of how furniture moves smoothly in and out of spaces. We moved everything in ourselves to the same freshly painted house and managed to do it with only one very small nick in the wall going to the basement. By the time these guys were done, there were multiple severe gouges and lots of scratching in the spot where we put the nick. They also found a new spot, on a different wall, with a different paint color and gouged it up as well. (By gouging, I mean it is DEEP and it will have to be filled and sanded before 2-3 coats of paint). They managed to also nick multiple pieces of trim in the old and in the new house. When I suggested what it would cost to repair the damage, the 'mover' told me it would cost maybe twenty bucks.Get real - you can't get a trade to think about what they would charge for a twenty. If the house was sold and you had to hire trades to do the work for the new owner, I'm guessing $500-$750 by the time they make 4-5 trips to the house - or have to sit around waiting between operations), Of course the amount of damage is a moot point because in the fine print it states "Marks, holes or any damage to the walls, doors, ceilings and floors are also not insured." In fact, their list of exclusions or restrictions limits them from liability for almost anything they may damage or break. Because they were late arriving and wanted to leave, everything they disassembled remained disassembled. In the disassembly, rather than a simple solution, like putting parts in a baggy taped inside the disassembled item, everything was loose or in their pockets - everything isn't back together yet and I'm still not sure if all the parts are here to finish. A manager/supervisor showed up about a half hour before they were done - so there was a little 15 minute break out front (but still billed). It appeared a cigarette was being passed - if you know what I mean. I thing the supervisor may have been called as the two young guys moving had a good sense of my displeasure over the amount of damage they had done. True to form, the last few pieces were held 'hostage' on the truck until they were paid in cash (no cheques, no credit cards) in full. Never, EVER again. read more
