We went on a pretty rainy and overcast day but it was still surprisingly nice! The fog was laying on the water, the bridge and the state capital building had clouds laying on top of them; it was truly beautiful. The levee was neat to see and the historic plaques were all very informative. It looks like a great place to go for a walk or have a picnic, so I bet we will probably stop back by if we are ever in Baton Rouge again.

The views are picturesque especially because you get a clear view across the river of downtown Baton Rouge. This is definitely a hot spot during the 4th of July where a huge celebration happens here in preparation for the river's fireworks scene! Many flock here to enjoy festivities of live music and some down-home local entertainment. I have even seen boot camp classes take place here. For the most part, parking is easy during huge events. If you are wanting stroll alongside the river, there is even a paved pathway for your enjoyment. My family and I have been to numerous events here and have always enjoyed ourselves connecting with the community.

I…read moremight can believe this at times, but honestly was just a little disappointed in the crowd noise, but it's still very loud. The inside part of the stadium is nice and up to date. The seats are older and need repainting but still in great shape. The grass on the field is pristine and looks phenomenal. The outside even looks very good and up to date, very minimalistic. For the concourse area where the concessions are are extremely old. It needs updating badly. It's just not in good shape. They have great food and drink options, but just old and tattered. The bathrooms are even worse. It's like they have never even tried to update these. I mean you are using toilets and troughs, it's that bad. I honestly expected more. I walked around the whole stadium expecting there to be some cool LSU memorial of former player, but there was nothing. Just an old concourse that nobody has put any thought too. Overall, I expected much much more from the long tall tails I've heard from this place, but just didn't live up to the hype. Great time, great people, and great atmosphere. Just a very old stadium wrapped in glitter. Also, don't let the preconception fool you of people saying these are rude and ugly fans. They are not! These are some of the nicest fans I have ever met. I was wearing the opposing fans gear and was treated very well and very nicely. It definitely changed my thoughts on lsu fans, and honestly kind of made me a small fan of them.

Honestly, there isn't a close second when it comes to college football atmospheres. What makes it even more special are the Cajun folks of LSU. The fans here aren't just passionate--they're welcoming, fun-loving, and make the entire game day experience unforgettable. The tailgating scene is second to none: from jambalaya to gumbo, crawfish boils to boudin, you're surrounded by incredible food and even better people who treat you like family, no matter where you're from. This event is free to the public and very family oriented. There will be Kite Flying (bring your own), Kite Design Competitions daily, Children's Kite Making Workshops, Precision Flying teams, Food Booths, Music and more! Big River Band will be performing on Saturday evening from 5PM-7PM followed by a fireworks display! Huge kites, the size of MACK trucks will be flying both days! Families can bring their lawn chairs, blankets and kites and set up their own area on the field for flying and viewing. No pets or ice chests are permitted. 11AM-7PM on Saturday 11AM-6PM on Sunday This event is put on by the West Baton Rouge Convention & Visitors Bureau and local sponsors!

This park is not just a big open space. Nature has been preserved, which makes it a pretty place to visit. I would recommend coming here for a walk, or to let your kids play and explore.

This public BREC park is nestled inside a quiet neighborhood, but it's easy to get to by car (or…read morefoot if you happen to live in River Bend). It's a peaceful place with lots of trees and open spaces. There's a tennis court, covered picnic table area, water fountain, benches, two sandy playgrounds, and a walking loop. No restrooms. Recently they built a nice scenic pathway that takes you through the trees to Farr Park, and from there it's a straight shot to the levee- another nice walk and good place to see the sunset. Park is open during daylight hours.
