Needed a new switch installed in my Hamer Newport, and fishing the wiring and such in a hollow body was not something I wanted to do. I called to see if they could do it, and get a quote. When I dropped it off, they logged it in, and gave me an estimate of a 1-2 weeks for the service. They far exceeded my expectations, and had it done in only a few days. I purchased a guitar described as "in mint condition" off Reverb from The Music Farm. When I received the guitar, it had a cracked nut. I posted photos and a video on YouTube showing the nut and it was obvious the nut was damaged. This is what they suggested: 1. Due to the style of the bend, this should be a simple fix and file the nut just a hair width deeper. 2. This is a simple fix with a drop of super glue. The guitar was supposed to be in MINT condition, and they suggested I file the nut down and fill it with super glue, BRILLIANT! read more

Very helpful my second visit up there. My first visit not so much. I think this is because some of the sales staff is not great where as others are fantastic! I'm still leaving 5 stars because the AMAZING sales staff made up for the subpar actions of the others. One star to the dude who helped me. If you can call it "help". I purchased a guitar pedal, decided I didn't want it & needed to return it. He said he didn't have enough cash to cover my return in the register ($98) and had to write me a check. Since I paid in cash, I expected my cash back. Not to mention, I don't have a Huntington account, which the check was drawn, so in order to cash the check, I had to pay a $10 fee. Ive been a customer of the music farm for almost 12 years, and this is the worst service I've ever received. Seriously, it's 2023, who still writes checks? Especially for a return? Went in a few times it's a relatively close store so it's convenient and every time they leave me dissatisfied. Compared to guitar center that honestly has cheaper strings pedals and a better selection of instruments in all categories or go to Larry's music center because the staff here are dicks and if u need something go elsewhere. Took about 1 month to do a guitar tune up that they said they could handle over the weekend. 2 weeks in they called me in to pick it up, so i drove down from Cleveland to get and when I showed up we found out they hadn't actually fixed it yet. They apologized and told me to get in another couple days. Bout a week later they finally got around to it. No discount even though they took excessively long to get it done and they made me make extra trips due to their disorganization. Not very professional in my opinion. If you're a woman headed into this music store, forget about getting the help you deserve. As a female musician, this is the prevailing attitude I've seen from a predominantly male staff in music stores before. I was looking for help at various points throughout the store, and was ignored by several employees. Finally, I went to the front counter where I was also ignored-no employee came up to help me. While I was standing there, however, a middle aged man walked in the store, and miraculously a male employee appeared out of nowhere to ask him if he needed help! I left and decided to never return. I am originally from Canton Ohio but residing in Pittsburgh and have many a professional performance event on the piano. I needed something very suddenly for an event in Canton Ohio and saw music farm online. I called later last night but the gentleman I spoke to was more than helpful even though it was close to closing time. He easily managed what I would need and held it behind the counter. Further, when I came in in the morning I received excellent assistance and they even tried out the equipment to make sure it would function fine for my job. First of all, they had the model in stock that I could not find anywhere else, including all of the major online sellers. Second, they gave me a $50 "Summertime Blues" discount, which was completely unexpected. Went to pick up and have worked on somewhere else. Had issue before with new guitar and guess guitar techs are becoming a dying art. I made my first trip to The Music Farm yesterday, and although I was impressed with the quality and quantity of the gear they had in stock, my experience with the salesman will almost certainly lead me somewhere else for my next guitar purchase. When I asked to see a guitar that was hung rather high the first question he asked was "Are you planning on buying it today?" I responded that I was interesting in purchasing it, but that it probably wouldn't be today, and that I needed to hear a guitar before I would think about buying it. He seemed put out to simply retrieve me a guitar so I could actually hear it. I played a few guitars, and liked the third one in particular, but I'm the type of customer who generally needs to weigh a large purchase before I make it. When the salesman got a bit pushy and said something to the effect of "Let's make that yours today," I was turned off, because I had already made it clear that I was there to build a better idea of what I wanted to play through a new amplifier I have recently purchased. In fact I would've liked to have played one or two more, but his attitude caused me to leave. I understand that "Showrooming" is a trend that hurts local businesses, and that the salespeople are aware of that. However, as a customer looking to support a local business, I'd much rather purchase from a Brick and Mortar business. Spending $800+ on a new instrument is not a small matter for me, and I would like the staff to understand that. Many of the other independent guitar shops I frequent in northeast Ohio, have been nothing but wonderful in terms of answering questions, letting me try gear out, and generally helping me find what I wanted. This was not the case at The Music Farm. The salesman offered little insight or assistance other than the cursory retrieving of a tuner for a badly out of tune guitar. I really enjoyed the selection, and found the prices to be equal to or slightly better than most online shops, but I cannot give my business to an establishment who comes across as more concerned with the sale, than with my experience. I know that ultimately it's the bottom line that counts for any business, but an a world where I can easily find these products elsewhere, bad customer service has potentially cost The Music Farm hundreds or thousands of dollars. read more
