As I was working my way down the boardwalk of the latest festival, I was curious of a large group of people, children and adults alike, stopped and fully engaged with something there in the center of this mass of onlookers. I investigated further, only to find that in the middle of the body of people, was a lone man. He stood there, while 30+ sets of eyes focused on him, he was calm, funny and entertaining. It was an amazing site to see. Attendees, both young and old, were amazed and astounded by the magical act of Phil Smith. He held their attention and made sure to include as many of the watchers as possible. My son and I stood for quite some time, mesmerized with the tricks and jokes that were coming from this modern-day wizard. After a while, we finally broke his spell, and he politely moved down the track a little further, to offer more entertainment to the unsuspecting masses. Our options were Keeley's or a local hotel ballroom. I was the organizer and the more I talked to the hotel event planners with their grandiose menus and high prices, the more I appreciated Keith's straightforwardness and practicality. I signed up with Keeley's. Our conference went quite well with about 50 attending. The generous space that we had included two big sections of the facility with tables and lecturn/screen in one room and displays and buffet in the other worked out very well. Their food as a part of the business special was very good with lots of variety. The day started with coffee, tea and a nice continental breakfast. Nothing fancy, but the smell of fresh baked cinnimon rolls really broke the ice with our attendees, many of whom we were meeting for the first time. The microphones, PA system and projector provided by Keeley's worked flawlessly. The high speed wifi did too. It's a family business. Keith is a good guy to work with: helpful, thoughtful and experienced. They deal with lots of wedding receptions and other family gatherings but he really likes business meetings and understands the needs of a medium sized business like ours. Other good things: Lots of (free) parking. A well kept building. Responsive staff. Timely food service. Good coordination with our needs. Easy access from I-95. 15 minutes from downtown.

As appetizers were passed, we noticed there were NO bacon wrapped scallops. Instead, Blue Elephant REPLACED this with some fig-thing! Apparently they were unable or simply forgot to get the scallops?? This last minute substitutions was made WITHOUT our knowledge and without ANY price adjustment/refund towards the bill, which of course they make you prepay in full. No satisfaction guarantee with this company. The plated dinner was such a disaster! The steak was so disgusting and poorly cooked, no one ate it and the brussel sprouts that accompanied it were completely inedible. How do you mess up brussel sprouts?! It was really upsetting to see all the thousands of dollars worth of food, be dumped into the trash. Some of our guests actually LEFT our wedding and brought back PIZZA!! So this is what you get when you spend thousands and hire people who claim to have 27 years of catering experience?? How embarrassing. Not to mention, you can expect a ridiculous delay in emails, expect to make numerous calls to get a hold of either Ruben or Fausto and prepare yourself for lots of confusion and unexpected menu changes without being notified or reimbursed. This was our first time visiting Laudholm Farm, during their September Craft show. Trying to squeeze your vehicle though the gate at the same time as another vehicle is trying to leave the entrance to the farm is quite a feat. Once we parked, it was $10.00 per person to enter the craft fair, which I didn't mind because the money helps keep the farm in good shape. There were a lot of stain glass, jewelry, photographs, paintings, metal and clay artists showing their wares. Prices for things seemed super high for what they were, but I understand they are trying to make a living. There was live music, food tents and food trucks also. We spent 1 1/2 hours there maybe, had a couple hotdogs, and left without purchasing anything. The farm is huge, and I would like to return some day to walk around the grounds, but not during the craft show.

He couldn't even figure out how to get the headphones working. They were then unable to record with separation because the headphones weren't working...Every track bled through to all the others. Tracks were completely lost or deleted and had to be redone. Playbacks weren't thorough and we had to repeatedly request to listen back. Then when we did we had to request they come through the main speaker to hear. Then we had to ask for them to be turned up so we could evaluate them. Huh? We could have gotten better mixes with garage band on my phone. Other than having some interesting equipment they have no business being a studio.
