The Worst pedicure EVER. Looked like a 2 year old did it. I was so angry. I didn't even complete the rest of my services. I paid and left. While the woman was sweet she barely knew how to cut my to nails. Filed so hard, both big toe nails are sore. Water was leaking out over the tub. The shapes of my toes nails were all different. And to think there were two other people (workers) there that just walked past , looked at my toes and didn't say a word. But they were gladly to take my payment with no question. There should have been no way this lady should have been working someone's feet. I can't count how many times she nipped me when doing my cuticles. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED! I live in Towncenter and found this place to be convenient. NEVER AGAIN ! There are quite a few ladies in my building that visits this place regularly. I would rate the business 0 stars if I could. I went to this business for myself and was very pleased. So I decided to take my 4 daughters to them for a spa day for my 5-year-old's birthday. We chose to get gel manicure and pedicure since I know it lasts longer and with kids It should last longer than a week. By that night, one of my daughter's nails all came off in the shower. Day 2 my oldest daughter's started to chip on her fingernails and toe nails. And before the end of the week the week they all had no nail polish left. VERY DISSATISFIED! I have been looking for a place to get a good mani pedi. I read the reviews. I trust them but don't take them to heart. As everyone has good and bad days. I booked online ..... easy peasy. But when. Got to work my schedule shifted. I got a text reminder and called and asked if I could come a bit earlier. They said yes. I got a pedicure first so relaxing if I wasn't on my phone I would've fell asleep. I'm gonna say one of the other staff members must be good as well because the gentleman across from was knocked out sleep. But I'm definitely going back. Lux is rude and unprofessional. Despite tipping her well she's been consistently late, offering no explanation and has the nerve to continue to keep you waiting when she walks in. Tipping well only makes them think they can take advantage of you. They are not the only shop in town and when the owners are away it's run poorly with staff being incredibly nosey about your life and taking liberty's with questions and intrusive conversations. They think because they have an established clientele that they don't need to do things in a professional manner well, watch out. The days of small, nosey unprofessional shops are over. Why continue paying money for sub par services and rude self entitled staff when new modern shops are opening up daily. They are training their staff to prioritize customer service and cleanliness first. Not the old model of nosey technicians, poor cleanliness practices and rude staff. read more

I was here on Saturday. By Saturday night 2 of my gel polished nails had peeled. Being out of town I couldn't get back to the shop until today, Tuesday. By this point 4 of my nails have varying degrees of peeling. I go after work and I'm told that I have to come back tomorrow! I ask, can't I wait to have my 4 nails re-polished she says no there are 2 other people waiting. My friend and I went here less than 2 weeks ago. We came in at a busy time so we had to wait, perfectly fine. We were told to wait 15 minutes for both of us to be able to get our nails done at the same time. After about 30 minutes, they started working on my nails, 45 minutes after that my friend finally got started on her nails. She had to leave for class by 5:30 (we got there at 3). She wasn't able to get her nails painted, but she was charged as if she did. Nobody ever apologized for her wait. We ended up coming back later because I wanted to get a toe polish change & already had my nails painted (otherwise we would've went somewhere else). At this point I noticed my nail underneath my thumb was already lifting. They glued it. We got our polish change, paid & left. The polish on my nails was terrible. You could see the different layers of polish on almost every nail. There was extra acrylic on several nails. It hasn't even been two weeks & I had to get a fill, they looked that bad. read more

This was my second time here and I'm not impressed. My first time I wanted another coat but she said it wouldn't look good so I was left with some of my nails being see-through. Today though was a disaster and my nails have never looked this bad. One woman started the painting and another one finished but they both left such a mess. There's top coat and polish on my skin around the nails. The tops of two of my nails are stuck to my skin like super glue. They rushed through my service to set up for a party coming in. They should've either taken their time with me or turned me away because they were busy. I paid the $30 and still tipped $5 but my nails do not look like they were don't by professionals. read more

This little spot was a nice treat. I was in desperate need of a pedicure and this was close to my job. I was greeted immediately upon my arrival and taken to the back where the pedicure chairs are located. The atmosphere is really clean and sleek and I appreciate that. I love that they use very good hygiene techniques with disposable bowl liners and gloves while rendering their services. I always take my own polish so if I need a touch up between services I'm set. That wasn't a problem for them and my tippy toes look lovely. I was in and out in 1 hr. Love that!!!! Would I come back??? Yes, indeed. read more

I live in Norfolk so this place was out of my way, but it was worth it to me. They said that they were closing, but that if I came within the next 30 minutes, they would see me. I have been to this shop maybe 5-6 times. Most of these visits I was pregnant. Today was my first one after delivery. Unfortunately I would not say it was the best I've gotten from them. The first time I went there I had Suri(not sure on spelling) and she was the reason i came back bc of her excellent customer service and being a fabulous nail tech. I have not had her since then which saddens me bc not all the other techs I'm finding out are as good of a technician. :(. And I really like this place. But today I've come to the realization I'm going to have to make appointments with Suri. Today I got a pedi and gel mani. Pedi was ok but my gel mani I can see bulges, nail polish over my cuticle(smh). my newborn was at home waiting for me(I breastfeed) so didn't have time for a redo, but lesson is learnt. UPDATE: 24 hours after GEL MANICURE one fingernail has already chipped! :(. 4 days after GEL MANICURE another chip but this one is way bigger. I'm so disappointed. I've tried again and again with this place. I now retract saying I will come back. I'm not wasting 50 something dollars again. I havent done anything labor intensive these past days. I'm taking care of a newborn. Sheesh I'm disappointed. read more

The nail tech Anh was watching YouTube videos while doing my nails, which is very unprofessional. Hardly spoke a work to me, just slapped her hands in the counter when she wanted me to switch hands or move my hand. I got a full set with gel polish. Not worth the money. The work is subpar, and rushed. Nails are uneven. I asked for a simple pumpkin design I showed a picture and what she did looked as though a child had done it. Another employee came over said that Anh could try again but I knew the result would be the same. No other tech offered to do the design. I decided to just stick with the solid color and forgo a design as It was not worth it. I don't recommend and I won't be back. read more

Myself and three members of my family have been going to this nail salon for 3 years now. I normally see Amy She the sweetest lady there. She's compassionate and tries effortlessly to help you feel comfortable. Her work is good too. My issue isn't with Amy because she isn't the issue. The manager or management is the BIGGEST issue. Recently there was a management shift new management was sent in. Since this new undertaking quality and prices have gone up. The new manager and some of the nail techs don't even speak or raise a eye when someone walks in. not gonna make this a race thing, I genuinely think the manager is just rude and ice cold. She wouldn't even speak to a teenager who had been coming in for a year for her nails. No hello how are you? How can help? Nothing . If this app could allow me to rate my nail tech I would rate her a 7 star. This one star is because management doesn't know how to make its guest feel wanted and at the very least cared for. How can u just sit at the front counter on your computer playing games never once lifting your eyes or head to greet people as they enter the place YOU work. In this prominent area is best to be polite to ALL people as you are in the service industry, any turn in traffic could have your doors closed. Show that you are happy for customer to spend their hard earned money during these times of inflation. The owner should know what's going on. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR DIP POWDER!!!! I got a mani and pedi and got dip powder on my fingernails, it looks horrible!! There is white spots on my nails and color all over my fingers. The manicure was also horrible my finger nails are rigid and look like a 5 year old did it!! I spent $85 here to get a horrible job done. When I told her the color was uneven she said that it turns out different every time. They should take the dip powder off their shelves if they do not know how to do it. I will not be back. The past few months I've switched to dip powder and couldn't be happier! First, let me start by saying if you're curious about dip powder, absolutely do it. Gel has always ruined my nails, leaving them short and broken after a few color changes. Dip powder leaves them so strong! I haven't broken a single nail in months! No matter where you go, definitely try gel. Now, specifically about The Nail Shop, I have been very happy with the job they do on dip powder. I have short nails because I bite my nails so bad. I went in there feeling embarrassed as I always do when I show my nails to the technicians. It's always such a challenge for me to get a full set. The technician I had didn't speak any English so I wasn't sure how she felt about doing my nails however when I tell you she did a great job I mean it. She took probably 1.5 hours to do my nails but she went above and beyond to make sure they looked good and were going to last. Usually my tips pop off after a week or so and she went above and beyond to add acrylic to my actual nail as an extension and then apply the tip to that. No one has ever cared that much and she did a beautiful job. I left feeling so pleased at the service I received. Will DEFINITELY come back and will bring friends! read more
