During the COVID-19 quarantine we have had several local food trucks from the area rotate for lunch/dinner during the week. I am so sad I only made it to The Naked Dog once before I moved back north. I am a hot dog lover, so imagine my difficulty in not ordering every variation from the menu! My husband and I decided on a few to split (not knowing their size): a classic Naked dog with classic toppings (ketchup, mustard, relish); a slaw dog; a Reuben dog; and a Chicago dog. If I could be speechless in a written Yelp review, I'd leave it at that. The dogs were jumbo sized, toppings were plentiful, tasty and temperature just right. The slaw dog was my absolute favorite - the cole slaw had the perfect consistency and was simple enough to not overpower the dog itself. The Reuben was a legit sandwich on a burger, pastrami and all. The dressing was perfect. The Chicago was classic and wonderful, complete with the unique green Chicago relish. Last but not least, smoothies! What better pair than a smoothie and a dog? If you're ever on River Street, possibly showing your out of town family around, and don't want or necessarily have the time to sit at one of the restaurants, check out the Naked Dog. You'll get a juicy dog that can be dressed in all sorts of unusual dressings. My favorite is the slaw and cheese dog. It's filling and doesn't make me regret my meal as it doesn't feel like it just sits in my stomach. The cheese is actual shredded cheese...not the pumped cheese you may expect. My hot dog was juicy and full of flavor, and the neion relish was unlike anything I've ever had (the toppings all together made it taste like the relish was brined or pickled with hot peppers - I found it to be quite a refreshing change, and I love being pleasantly surprised like that when I order a dish from a place were I've never eaten before. Great service, staff and most importantly product. I was working on river street yesterday and stopped by the cart for a quick dog to calm my stomach down. I ended up eating 4 more throughout the day after finding out how good they were. They come on a thick poppy seed bun that is just as amazing as the hot dog itself. The hot dog was very good and the owner (?) was very nice. My only disappointment in this place was that they had run out of Fresh Squeezed Lemonade yesterday and didn't have any today.
