I think it's fair that we are picky when it comes to who watches our children- they are the most important people in our world! So we signed up for the service, which in my opinion is worth the fee considering the abundance of available sitters they have on their roster- it's nice to have a sure thing. However, the one benefit you won't have here is that you will not get to meet the sitter ahead of time. Being that we're picky with our sitters, that was hard to get over, but understandable. When you book your "appointment", you can view profiles (which are very detailed and helpful!) to request a sitter. I wish you were able to select an alternate, because there were several great-sounding sitters, but it only lets you select one. If she declines the job, Sitting Made Simple picks one for you. I'd like the option to request a few sitters that we like (I assume as we keep using the service that we'll come across a few that we like). Also, we live out in Johnstown OH, which they do provide service for, but there is a $10 additional mileage fee we have to pay the sitter. That's understandable since we're outside the city, but it would have been nice to know that before we signed up for the service. Onto the good stuff: Booking the appointment online, looking through the profiles to make our sitter selection, and receiving communication by email that our appointment was confirmed- all a very good experience. We weren't sure what to expect when our sitter showed up, except what we read on her profile. We were VERY impressed by our sitter. Not one single complaint here. She was very friendly, made a good first impression, and was very personable, yet professional at the same time. Our kids warmed up to her immediately and it made it very easy to walk out the door for a few hours, leaving our children with someone we had never met. This made me think that they must have a great screening process in order to secure such great sitters! I really enjoyed the notes that the sitter left us at the end of the night- Sitting Made Simple provides a form for them to fill out. Our sitter gave us a full verbal report, it sounds like they had an excellent time, and the notes were helpful! We will use this service again. We'd love to have the same sitter come back again, but I am now confident that there are probably several great sitters available. Hopefully we get just as lucky next time!

Then i proceed to bring my son in this morning and instantly walked in and told me a problem they had with my son the day before. Why not mention that last night at pick up? Told me my son put kids in a head lock etc. wether that were true or not the way they were with my son was as if they were disgusted with him. Mind you he's 2. He's learning. He had been attending another area center and I guess I was used to the way they operated, but I kept getting the feeling that it just wasn't good enough. The administrator was not very personable (actually downright rude) and the teachers seemed lazy, inexperienced and lacked confidence...definitely not the type of environment I wanted my son to spend 8 hours a day in. I started looking into other options and nothing seemed any better. Then I stumbled on Balanced Family Academy. WOW!!!! From the minute I called them I was excited about this place. I visited the center a few times before deciding to move him. I was nervous about him transitioning into a new place and I figured it would take him a few weeks to adjust. Well...I was wrong. He LOVES this center and loves his teachers. It's amazing how well kids do when they are in a place where people are happy to be there, excited about teaching, and truly seem to enjoy their jobs! There are so many "perks" that this center offers (too many to list), but the most important thing to me is how my son acts when we walk in the door each morning. The owners and teachers are wonderful and my husband and I are thrilled we made the decision to enroll him in Balanced Family Academy.

I came here to deliver an Instacart order to a staff member. I followed the instructions provided to go to a different door for a walk-in fridge and not go to the front door. I accidentally opened TWO incorrect doors while looking for the one with the fridge. Both of them were unlocked, opened without any effort. One of them giving access to the "gym" and the other to a classroom full of children sitting. Unlocked. If you do bring your kids here, please ask some questions and get this policy changed. Seems quite unsafe and unmonitored to me.

I have sat for many families and organizations all over Columbus during my 1.5+ years of working with Sitters Unlimited. I have had only a couple instances of not receiving payment on the day of and Ami made sure to touch base with the clients and facilitate them sending the payment to be via mail after the fact. Sitters gives this same condiseration and respects to its clients. I have grown close to a few of the families I've met through my involvement with Sitters. The website is easy to navigate and user friendly. This is a safe, convenient option for many Central Ohio families, churches and establishments and provides a great gig for many experienced sitters to connect with babysitting jobs. Though I have a full-time job and do this on the side, I know a plenty of sitters who obtain a much higher volume of sits easily. I support this company and would recommend it to anyone.

The day of the party, Jeanette and her colleague arrived right on time. I do not usually write reviews unless the experience was stellar or really, really bad…read more Unfortunately in this case it is the latter. I want to be clear that the issue here is ownership. There were wonderful caregivers for my son when he was in the infant room, however when he moved to the 12-18 month room things changed drastically. I found Giggles and Grins to be a very big disappointment. My son attended here for a little over a year. In that time the communication was awful. The first issue came when there was a case of hand foot and mouth.... typical for a daycare. What isn't typical is a lack of notification. I returned to pick up my son at the end of the day and noticed that they had hung a sign on the door stating that children "may have been exposed" (sign wasn't there in the morning) I found my son completely miserable. When I asked the teacher if he had been like that all day she told me that he was "out of sorts" and had a rash on his bottom and feet. He was completely broke out with sores on his mouth and NO ONE CALLED ME!! He went all day ill with hand foot and mouth and in addition exposed several other children as well. Second instance came after I noticed that my son was coming home with several bite marks on his arms. I know that kids bite..... I get that. What isn't acceptable is a daycare that doesn't notify a parent when their kid is getting bit! I brought it to the attention of the owner and she brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal and said "it was being addressed" I let it go thinking that maybe it would stop. I was VERY WRONG. The next week I noticed more bites on my son....I was NEVER notified this was happening and had it not been for me checking him I would have never known about the biter in his class! There was no incident report. Just a flippant answer from the owner with ZERO follow up. I decided to remove my son after this incident. I could not imagine that he was being watched closely if they were not aware enough to see bites all over his arms. Lastly, the center was recently sold buy the previous owner but she is still involved. I have made several attempts to get tax information from them with ZERO response. They claim that they do not know where my tax document is and that due to the sale of the center things are a little out of sorts...... not my problem. It is now mid-Feb and I have yet to receive any tax documentation from them. I strongly suggest NOT considering Giggles and Grins for your child care needs.
