My room number was 532…read more-- which was the top floor so maybe that was the reasoning behind my lack of love for this hotel. Upon checking in, I was greeted immediately. Both men at the front desk were very pleasant and friendly. I did not see any bellhops/attendants, as I was pregnant and would've loved the help. I'd keep that in mind if you're used to staying somewhere with the extra help. I upgraded my room to be at the end of the hallway so I would hopefully be away from noise, and I certainly was. Hardly heard anything at all which was fantastic. The room itself was beautiful and VERY clean. It had an industrial vibe, and my specific room faced the busy 116th, which did cause me to wake up a couple times (firetruck, horns, etc). My biggest complaint is how hot my room was, however. They had it set to 72, and the curtains were about halfway open so the sun was directly hitting my room and I assume any even number. I cranked my AC down to 64, and it actually never reached 64 before I checked out. It actually raised to 74 until about 10 pm when I went to bed. As I said before, I am pregnant, so definitely run extremely hot anyways. We are in a heat wave in Indiana right now and it has been pretty miserable outside. I wish they had just had the curtains drawn and maybe told you why they were drawn. I think if you were booking the specific hotel in June through September, I would only book an odd number room, as it's the opposite side of sunlight during mid day. Lastly, When I called Downstairs for room service they transferred me and when I told, I assume, the restaurant employee I wanted room service she sounded as if I was the first person to ever request it. I ordered the Caesar salad, french fries with ranch, the ravioli with marinara, and a slice of cheesecake. I was actually at a loss for words when she showed up to the door carrying a sack of food lol I look forward to room service anytime I stay in a hotel, and have never in my life seen food delivered that way. I was laughing so hard when I closed the door -- definitely an underwhelming experience. The food however, was all very hot and fresh. I loved everything except the raviolis. They were rough and tough to chew. There is automatic gratuity as others have mentioned. All in all, it was a very clean hotel. I would not stay here in June-September, and with the lack of a bell man/actual room service, it's just not on my list of staycations unfortunately. I would go back to try out the bar and maybe have a quick bite to eat, but not as a guest of the hotel.

Our check-in was easy process, and the staff honored our request for late checkout at 3pm. The parking was free as well. The room was very spacious, There a kitchen and separate living area with TV and couch. The beds were comfy and bathroom had all the amenities. The swimming pool was indoor with heated water, so we were able to use it even in February winter time. The breakfast had some excellent options including waffle makers. Lobby area had a bar too that was popular among guests in the evening hours. The hotel is located in a busy area. There are multiple restaurants, shops, Walmart and Kroger right next to it.

The main takeaway is that it's just one of those older towneplace suites. I've stayed at quite a few of these and they're never in good shape. If the rate is right, it's not a bad one night stay. But, it's seemingly the lowest of the Marriott line. For my stay the rate was a little high. The inside of the room (and hallways and common space) were clearly worn out. It felt like it hadn't been properly ventilated for years and seemed hold a musty smoky scent. The furniture in the room was in horrible shape, the shower curtain had stains, and I found some small bugs on the counter in the "kitchen." All of that said I honestly it had been cleaned fairly well (not bashing house keeping!) Some pros... I love the layout of these rooms, they're basically small apartments. I was upgraded to a two room suite without asking. I didn't need that much space, but nice layout and it'd be ideal for someone needing two separate rooms with a shared living space. It is pet friendly and my dog was along for this ride. I appreciate the pet friendly, but for a $100 non refundable fee the rooms should be in better shape. The staff were all great! I called to confirm a dog, checked in and out and all three people were exceptionally nice and engaged. There are a few places you can walk to including a great burger place (Flamme), a liquor store, cookie place, etc.

Girls and guys at the front desk were nice, efficient and also had a cute little snack bar that were easily available at all hours to get your goodies rang up. Cleaning crew in the halls were nice as well. The rooms were cozy and comfortable and overall clean. Comfortable beds and again, not noisy. The reason I docked a star is our air conditioning unit had a loud humming noise. Probably should have requested a room change but didn't realize it until the second night/that it would bother so much. May have just been bad luck with the unit in our room. Another bummer is we requested maid service/cleaning service bi-daily yet every day we got back our beds/rooms were never made up. We definitely got skipped and again, after coming back after long days, the last thing we wanted to do was complain or ask for them to come after hours. At least we caught the cleaning crew in the halls a few times to get new towels but would expect more. But still overall I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend this hotel. The staff were wonderful from check-in to check-out, and everything in between. My room was cleaned every other day. The only thing that was unpleasant was the musty smell - like a dirty man smell. Luckily I had my perfume and Lysol to keep it tolerable but I'm not sure if there was a possible drainage or mold issue. Also, the desk chair was wobbly, which I let front desk know about. I also felt like they could've tucked the bedsheets in better - but that's just my observation. This hotel also offered free breakfast each morning. I enjoyed their waffles. They also had a large parking lot, where I felt safe to leave our rental. There were plenty of parking spaces. This hotel seems to be pet-friendly, as there was a couple checking in with their dog. The hotel is within walking distance from a Kohl's and Walmart. Overall, it's a decent hotel with basic amenities. I did appreciate the walk-in shower with glass doors. I wouldn't mind staying here again. I'd probably ask to switch rooms if it smelled musty again. Lesson learned. But it was useful for my stay, as I only needed it for sleeping, showering, and storing my belongings while I was on business in the area.

The property is lovely, and our room (Anna Lynn) was spacious and comfortable. The pillow top King size bed was spectacular! Joe and Kelly's breakfasts were absolutely phenomenal. Everything was gourmet quality, and served with care. They are lovely people and we enjoyed chatting with them each day. I fell in love with their little dog Ted, and it was very hard to say goodbye! We have stayed in many B&Bs and the Old Town Carmel was one of the best! Would highly recommend this to anyone seeking a relaxing stay in the Indianapolis area, as it was an easy drive to the city. Lots to do in the Art & Design District.
