I can't say enough about The Nest Theatre. Coming from a little bit of an acting background, I was ready to dip my toe back in after nearly a decade and thought I'd give improv a swing. I had no idea what I was in for. Improv training at The Nest is fun, kind, safe, affordable, and challenging (in the best kind of way.) I highly recommend the 4-level curriculum to learn the basics and gain confidence performing improv or honestly just confidence in general! :) The Nest Theatre = high quality training + high quality people. Stumbled upon this one quite by accident. I thought I was buying tickets to a regular performance but somehow it was a student showcase at the end of a series of classes. Tickets were only $10. I feel like we got more than our moneys worth. It was funny. The students were quite good. read more

The Nest is AMAZING. I've done improv training programs in Boston, San Francisco, and Amsterdam, and The Nest is by far the best improv education and improv theatre I've been part of, period. It's incredible! I've done the training program, performed, and seen shows here for the past two years and I don't have the words to say how phenomenal my experience has been on every level. The owners, Tara and Rance, have created a world class improv training program right here in Columbus. And the community is so special -- fun, silly, inclusive, kind, and vibrant. I've made lifelong friends. The shows are fantastic (and there are so many different shows to see!!). It's always a great time! A really magical place. Every show is full of energy and absolutely hilarious. My friends and I decided to see an improv show at The Nest Theatre a little bit ago because we wanted to try something different. The humor here is censored and a bit corny. I think we were looking for something different when we purchased the tickets. The show was extremely interactive and that is usually my least favorite part of comedy shows. The actual place itself was pretty nice! I enjoyed a nice beer with my show and the tickets were pretty cheap! Everyone here was very nice too! I also really love supporting local theaters. First of all, $3 Drafts (Miller Light). $3! I'm all about having that in my life though I really am tryin to watch the carbs Anywho, these guys and gals are funny hella funny! Bring a date, bring your family, or bring 10 friends that are kinda like family. They request that tickets be bought in advance but somstimes they can be bought the moment of as well. The atmosphere was very positive and the cast of the "long form story tellers" series where great. Get some tickets and beat the rat race to the other comedy clubs! Plus, this kinda stuff is very good for the community amd Columbus is always in need of great art and entertainment! It may not be important to some, but I was very impressed by the bathroom as well. Visited from out of town and took a chance on the evening of improv - with ComedySportz. This was about a 90 minute show, beverages and snacks are available and doors opened 30 minutes prior to showtime. The staff are friendly and energetic and the show was fun, it felt like you were part of the experience rather than just a spectator. I would go once a month if I were from the area, and will buy tickets again next time I'm in town. Easily good for low-key date night, family night out or just a way to spend time before 10:00pm on the weekend. read more

We went to see comedy sportz show. Venue is nice but the chairs are sort of crammed together. The show was laugh out loud funny with lots of audience participation and we definitely would see this improv show again. There's a bar and the drinks were just okay-maybe a little watered down. My wife and I went to opening night to see Here, a fully improvised musical and Storyteller, a long form improv show. Both were lights out amazing. The space feels like a theater in Chicago or New York. The theater is located downtown near several great restaurants and parking garages with plenty of spaces. I should preface this by saying we were looking for a fun date night and heard about the Nest from a friend. We didn't realize we were going to one of their "soft openings" (weekend #3). I want to really like the Nest--I think they have the right vision and people-- just a little bit more work to do. Here are the highlights: - the parking lot is a little bit shady and confusing. There is a sign out front that says "The Nest" but it looks like it's in front of the building next door with Soda signs on the windows. The Nest is actually the newly painted gray building. -Super easy to pay at the door. They have a square card reader - They have a bar inside but they aren't selling liquor yet. Just coke products and some snack items. (think: Sam's Club chips and oreos). I know they are getting a liquor license and I am sure that will help the vibe. I also think their target customer would appreciate a higher end snack or dessert item. I am thinking you could partner with nearby Amy's Donuts for a special Nest Donut for $2.00, gourmet Parmesan popcorn (not the cheap flavoring but legit, real parm) for $5.00 a bowl, some specialty bars, and maybe some Krema Buckeyes or their special crunch. - the ambiance is just so-so. It definitely has the "this was a shady pizza shop a month ago but we are converting it to a theatre" vibe. I think in a few months it will be really cool-- but right now just know it's OK. - the comedy was pretty good! We had some solid laughs. The hosts were also great! My favorite part of the night was when they did an audience interview. The random guy they selected to interview was hilarious!! Overall: We will definitely be back and we've recommended the Nest to others that we know. If you go in with managed expectation about the actual building--you will really have a good time. read more

The facility was fine though its in the hood. Bartender wasn't great but could pour a draft and the draft selection was reasonable. The owner/host wasn't not a great public speaker. I've never heard a host say "ummm" more than this guy. The comedy - didn't see any of that last night. Two different improv "companies" and I don't think I could even get a grin out of either. My wife was laughing seeing the expression of show and aw at how bad this was. 20+ minutes on the same stupid topic (for each company), both being a bad premise for trying to create anything funny. Most of the people there were just there to support their friends. I'm all for some sketch comedy and improv but this was bad. Biggest laughs we had were driving away and discussing how bad it was. Maybe it was the improv groups we saw (Fish Bowl and Rot). Perhaps it was the topics chosen. I am just reviewing my experience for one night (which was less than an hour with intermission). read more

Awesome entertainment! We brought a team of 11 people from our office with their spouses, and together we had a fabulous time! Tara and Rance hosted us to private Improv workshop prior to seeing the public ComedySportz show, and a great time was had by all in both sessions. I've been to Improv in other cities, and the talent here rivals that of others, including Chicago! We were most impressed, and proud that this hidden gem is here in Columbus. I've seen 3 of their shows (StoryTeller, HERE, and Cage Match) and have thoroughly enjoyed each one. They also reach out to local improv groups in Cbus and give them the space to perform as openers for these shows...you have to check them out! Went to the Sportz show last night with my sons and had a really fun time! This is a unique family- friendly show that really makes you laugh. The ticket prices are reasonable as are the bar prices.
