My…read moredad was my PCP for years, but after he retired I struggled for years to find a new PCP... and stumbled on Dr. Maslen based on a recommendation on our community list serve. Making him our family doc was the best decision we ever made. He is INCREDIBLY approachable; you never feel rushed, he takes the time to answer all questions big and small -- and over all just seems to go the extra mile, and REALLY & TRULY CARE about his patients. PCPs/General practitioner family docs are a dying breed. To find a PCP that is a sole practitioner, not in a large medical group is EXTREMELY rare, if not basically extinct these days. It makes SUCH a HUGE difference to have a doc, where you are HIS patient rather than just another number to a random group practice. The gold ol' days of medicine are almost gone and it is just so amazing that Dr. Maslen is still there. All the pressures in medicine today push, if not force docs to sell their practices and join these large medical groups-- costs, insurance, etc are the culprit here. We are just so thankful to have a doctor that loves what he does and endures the incredible pressures to retain his independent sole practice. Idk.. I could keep rambling... but there are not enough words to convey how grateful my wife and I are for Dr. Maslen.

My latest placement brought me to this facility. Like many of the doctors in the area, they don't have a lab in-office, but have the basics for getting an annual physical. As a new member, I had to fill out some forms, and then the medical assistant weighed me and measured my height. In the past, I've had to face the wall for those, and this time I faced away from the wall... that's new for me! And my blood pressure was taken with one of the small machines, not one of the big ones. Is that the new trend? I always considered the big machines the 'professional' ones for the office, and the small ones were for personal use. I'm willing to bet studies showed there's no significant difference between the two. And then my EKGs got taken... seamless process. I then had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Hassan. He was very professional, open to any questions or concerns, and overall a nice guy. He sent me off to get lab work done nearby, and then I returned to discuss those results. He kept it 100% and didn't immediately want to prescribe medicine for some high numbers I have... I appreciate his expertise. For anyone in the area, I can't find a reason to recommend someone besides Dr. Hassan.

He's into the holistic medicine thing which is nice.. too expensive for my budget.. but it's good to see a doctor who realizes the importance of good health from more than just a drug standpoint. After the study that came out last year explaining the benefits of Vitamin D he will most likely make you take some of that (since 99% of people are deficient). I don't know what the health effects (including negative) are but I've been trying to take it when I remember and get more sun. The parking garage is expensive. They really need to validate parking here.

On 6/7/19 I paid $185.00 for an office visit because, although Dr. Musher is a network provider with United Healthcare, he wanted to take enough payment in case I had not met my deductible. On 8/17/19 my wife (under whose name his office staff had mistakenly filed the insurance claim) called and spoke with the office staff about an EOB showing that I was responsible for only $51.23 and that Dr. Musher owed me a refund of $133.77. UnitedHealthcare had informed me that Dr. Musher was paid electronically on 6/26/19 and was in breach of his network-provider contract by failing to refund me within 30 days. The office staff promised a refund within the week. When a refund that did not arrive as promised, my wife called on 9/5/19 and spoke to Dr. Musher himself. Dr. Musher solicited my wife's agreement that I subscribe to his concierge service. Pressuring her, he told her I had health issues for which he had advised follow-up care. His disclosing my private medical information without my authorization violated HIPAA law. Moreover, this high-pressure marketing of a concierge service in an attempt to credit the $133.77 to concierge subscription fees instead of issuing me a refund check was inappropriate, unprofessional, and unfair and deceptive in violation of the Maryland Consumer Protection Act. I received my refund, but only after two telephone requests, one-and-a-half months from the time of the first request, and two-and-a-half months from the time that my health insurance paid Dr. Musher. In sum, Dr. Musher engages in unfair and deceptive trade practices relating to billing and to inappropriate and unprofessional solicitation for his concierge service, as well as unauthorized disclosure of private medical information. I do not recommend this doctor for anyone.

Because…read moreof my health issues, I have found that integrative practices are more equipped to understand and handle my issues. Unfortunately, my experience with the office has not been good. Up front, I will say that the dental hygienist, Lori does a great job. I would say that the two dentists are also good and caring. So why the terrible rating? First, expect to wait forever for your visit. They are never on time. I have had to wait upwards of an hour. The best option is to get in there for the first appointment and hope they show up on time. Second, you have to pay attention to the billing. They make mistakes all the time. I have had to call in and get corrections on several occasions. Third and final, they cancel appointments all the time. I have no clue what is going on with the office and the dentist but the constant rescheduling is terrible. I am currently is search of another dentist office as I can no longer deal with the mess. Which is sad, because as I said the doctors and hygienist are good people. But the office is clearly not well run.

After an initial visit ($400), testing ($300) and a one-hour follow-up ($300) one month later, I tried new medication and upon having a simple question about reformulating, I never heard back from my doctor (despite repeated emails and calls). She literally just never got back to me. The practice puts pressure to schedule a full, one-hour follow up (for $300) just to have simple questions answered about medicine they've prescribed - even though I had already paid for a follow-up just to receive the results of lab testing. I am not sure what is going on with this practice lately, but as a patient who has seen this doctor for years, feeling like you can't have some simple follow-up as a course of care is concerning - and feels unethical. The emphasis here is now on maximizing revenue and not patient care. I'll be looking for a new practice.

We traveled from Bethesda to MedStar Washington Hospital Center expecting to receive the care we had arranged. Instead, I was told that I no longer had an appointment because I had supposedly been "dismissed from the practice" due to an alleged incident in 2016, ten years before my scheduled appointment. I had never been notified of this alleged dismissal. No one could tell me what the incident was, who made the decision, why it was made, or provide any documentation or explanation. I learned of my supposed dismissal only after arriving for my appointment. If a medical practice decides to dismiss a patient, there are generally accepted practices intended to ensure the patient is informed and has an opportunity to obtain care elsewhere. Based on my experience, those standards were not followed. The situation became even more troubling when my husband, who had his own valid appointment, respectfully questioned what had happened. Shortly afterward, Dr. Kurzrok personally informed him that he also would not be seen. As a result, neither of us received the care we had scheduled and still urgently need. This experience was not simply about a canceled appointment. It was about a complete lack of transparency, accountability, and respect for patients. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Kurzrok, The Neurology Center, or MedStar Health. Patients deserve honest communication, fair treatment, and continuity of care, not unexplained denials of care after traveling to a scheduled appointment.

On yesterday I received an angry phone call from the billing manager, Nancy, threatening to bill me directly if I do not resolve a claim denied by my insurer asap. Mind you this was the first time I've ever received a call from her for services rendered just over a month ago, and had not even gotten in a word before she became aggressive with me. I know it can be tough dealing with insurance denials day in and out, but customers deserve better than the condescending tone and disrespect given yesterday. I will not be back.
