They do have a decent selection of hard to find fashion magazines and even some international titles that one doesn't often see on this side of the Atlantic. But even though Grand Central Terminal is only 25 miles away, this is not as city centric a newsstand I'd like and the selection - while good - wasn't quite what it undoubtedly once was [or could be]. I was able to score a copy of the newest Monocle magazine but my hopes for the International Herald Tribune were dashed when I saw it wasn't the newsprint version but rather a photocopied one. No deal. I know I can find the IHT in Manhattan but who needs the hassle.

I love the paper, but this year they started double billing my credit card. Long story short it took me from March until Sept. to get them to stop and I had to cancel my credit card to get them anyone with authority to even call me back. They admitted they had double billed and said they were issuing a $350.00 credit. So I said I'd stay on as a customer, b/c I do love their newspaper. Within 24 hours they had charged another $150.00 on my new replacement credit card even though they OWE ME MONEY. Now I have had to cancel a 2d credit card. The paper costs about $70.00/month--so to charge me $150.00 was another double charge--and they put it on my card even though they owed me a credit. Again I have spent 4 days and about 4 hours trying to reach the billing dept. They say they don't have a phone a customer can call and will have billing call back. They never do. AMEX--my credit card company say they get constant calls this year about this scam at NYT. So clearly this is a corporate policy, not just an error on my account. Bottom line-- they are double billing as a matter of corporate policy. I suppose my only option now is to file a complaint with the Calif. Attorney General. How sad!

I wouldn't label…read moremyself an avid reader or someone who owns a lot of books, but I enjoy B&N for the browsing aspect. If time permits, I enjoy walking through the aisles seeing what catches my eye, and possibly picking up a thing or two. I recently reviewed a new B&N in Scarsdale which I was a fan of - it's a new prototype store with modern aesthetics and an expanded food section. That being said, I have to give this B&N in Yonkers praise because they definitely hold their own. While it doesn't have as open a feel as the one in Scarsdale or the former location in the Bronx, the store always looks clean and well stocked. It's not the biggest location I've been to, but the tight-knit layout almost makes the store seem cozy (it's hard to explain, just my perception ;-). Believe it or not, they still have a dedicated CD/DVD section, but you'll usually find me in the cookbook section which is quite large with a lot of variety. Staff are usually nice, though I haven't had too many interactions with them. Overall, with bookstores slowly fading away, I'm glad this B&N is still around. If I'm in the area I would definitely be apt to stop in.

I've spent 3.7k on a bike, this isn't including the repairs i had to pay over the span of a year which amount to at least 1.4k+ after random bolts detaching and motor failing, and as soon as the warranty expired my bike had a random electrical issue where the bike wouldn't accelerate. I spoke to a nice man, Tony who took the time to ask me what I was looking for. The bike I wanted he said he was delivering the next day in JC if I wanted to see it in person but he didnt recommend that bike because he said it would be too big for me (Im 5'2"). He told me the "Alex" would be a good fit. If I liked it he would hand deliver it for me the next day and then offered a deal I couldnt refuse. Who does that?! So excited for my new bike he arrived on time. Stayed about 30 minutes to explain the features on the bike and I rode it a bit. This has brought me joy. It rides beautifully. I know its just a bike but I feel some freedom now that I can get around a little without thinking about buses and trains. Nice guy, great bike....I highly recommend.

I ended up leaving with three books: two for me, both from Irish authors I'd never heard of that I'm absolutely loving so far, and one for a friend's sick two year old and her daughter LOVED it - it was a really cool book about the seasons that opened into a globe and had great illustrations. In short, I found some really special books at this really special store! It's in a great location with lots of parking but is also right by the aqueduct trail if you like to walk aka I walked there haha. Shop local : )

This is a tiny shop but filled with little treasures of new debuts (the intruder by Fridea McFadden is one that caught my eye) to the nostalgic classics (the entire HP series is there). I didn't spend as much time as I would've like but the bookstore is very cozy and the man who greeted us was kind and helpful. I will be sure to come back next time I'm in town!

The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. We had a very long conversation and learned a lot about their history, celebrity interactions, and received good reading recommendations. Now, here's the cherry on the sundae..... this bookstore has the cutest bunnies! Their names are Acorn, Moo, and Meatball. Who ever thought of incorporating these bunnies into the business is a genius! They make great talking points, the bunnies allow customers to touch them, and place smiles on everyone who sees them. I cannot recommend this bookstore enough. You will be treated by a great staff and will leave with great memories of unique interactions.
