When I met with Dolby to discuss my system I specifically told him I wanted to purchase the entire system , he wanted me to enter an agreement where I rent the equipment from him for a period of 3 years + monitoring fees . I stated I wanted to buy it not lease it from him and he wasn't happy about that . He thought about it and quoted me that to buy and own the equipment I would have to pay him $2000 + GST for all the equipment and I agreed to that and a monthly 1 year contract of $39.95 which he raised to $42.95 then raised again to $49.95 . I ended up selling my home and asked him if he was interested in installing a new system in my new home . He replied "No" he was not interested so I advised him I would be discontinuing service with him . Thats when he decided that I owed him more money . I was in a 1 year contract which I completed and then went month to month as discussed and I owned the equipment since I paid him over $2000 and he kept stating he thought I owed him something ... conversation ended . This will show you the price differences between what he wants to charge you and what he's supposed to charge you . In my case he gouged me and the equipment he says he sold me for $2000 actually is worth maybe $700 I didn't feel good about how Dolby mentioned he thought I owed him more money . I bought the equipment outright or so I though and he verbally told me I did I sent him a written notice of cancellation as per the agreement and I get a message back from Dolby demanding $600 for unlocking the control panel or he is going to come and remove it . I was like "what" ? I bought the equipment from him but little did I realize the Dolby and his shady ways wrote on the contract in small writing that the control panel was " not inc" and I did not notice this at the time I signed the contract because I trusted him and the verbal agreement we had . Dolby is as shady as they come, always trying to figure out a way to take advantage of his customer so that you will owe him more money at the end I suggest you all close read the contracts he made you sign as he has made it so that if you discontinue service he will come after you for additional money . He basically ripped me off and knew he was doing it . It was he that did not want to continue service because he wanted the $600 cash grab and he will take back this monitoring panel , then sell it and install it in someone else's home telling them that its new when its not ...its actually from someone else's home as will be most of his equipment ....super shady !!! I have signed up with Telsco . There you buy the equipment and they do not own any of it , it will always be yours . I even sent them a email to verify the control panel is mine to keep and they stated yes it is ( see attached photo) . They are the exact same price as Dobly's JTL and they do not do shady things to their clients . They actually gave me better cameras which include sd cards and the ability to talk through any camera where Dolby does not offer that . Again Dolby goes out of his way to take advantage of his customers ...most of you do not know this yet but just wait until you try to discontinue service even though he verbally tells you that you own the equipment he is not being honest to you Ive learned my lesson and I hope you seriously look at what you have signed because he 100% is going to play it to his benefit and add very small print items onto the contract so he comes out ahead and remember some of his equipment he is installing has been in other clients houses ,such as mine , so anyone after this point may be getting my control panel installed in their home

I ordered a 32 inch fridge but it didn't fit the space, so it was a hassle to return it and buy a smaller fridge that fit. The fridge is placed in a weird position as there is no cabinet. The insulation is very poorly done. I can hear the breathing of my downstairs tenants. After six months the flooring and caulking is coming off in the bathroom. The position for the microwave plug is weirdly placed. When the furnace was installed there was leak in the furnace room. The contractor was not accepting it as their fault and claimed that it was the builder's fault. They didn't even came to check when I informed them. When the builder's tradesman came they found out that the contractor didn't glue the pipes for the second furnace they had installed. I asked for a grey flooring. The contractor insisted on beige. I later found out they insisted on beige because they had another work where they needed beige flooring, which helped them to cut cost. The basement was not cleaned after the work was completed. It was dusty and metal pieces were all over the floor. I had to do the cleanup myself before the appliance people brought the appliances to not hurt their feet with metal. In short the work was done very poorly. I do not recommend this company.

Not only was the quotation reasonable but along with the quote we received a packet filled with information of what a property owner should consider when hiring a foundation company from all of the questions that need to be asked to the references that need to be checked. The extraordinary professionalism from Kevin and his team was beyond what we had expected. The crew came in and treated our property as if it was their own. They took great care to cover the lawn so as not to damage it with their machinery. They excavated the entire side of the apartment building down to the foundation floor and every step of the repair was completed properly (we received a detailed step by step manifest of the work to be done). The job was finished in two days and they cleaned up everything so thoroughly that you would never even know they were there. Every single member of the crew was exceptionally polite and respectful. I visited the site often and every one of them was fantastically knowledgable about what they were doing not to mention very patient with me and willing to answer all of my questions (and I had many!). I only regret that I did not get all of their names because they absolutely deserve mention. The two that I do know was Andy and Jim but all of them were wonderful. I was out of town and arranged for someone to meet them at my house to let them in. I had asked that they call me when they were at my house so I could explain the history of the problem, which was complex. When Kevin went to my house, he did not bother to call me. Without knowing the extensive troubleshooting I had done in the preceding 2 months, he told the person who met him at my house that it was not a foundation problem and left it at that. When I left repeated messages requesting an explanation, he did not call back. Instead, he sent a 2-sentence email that explained nothing and stated rudely that it was not his responsibility to inform me about his assessment. I can only assume he did not view the work needed on my house as worth his while. When I tried to explain why I wanted to know how he reached his conclusion, he sent me another rude email saying he was done communicating with me. When I posted a negative review on Google, he replied in writing with insults, claiming that I had not treated him well, and that I had no business writing a review because he did not want me as a client. He implied that I had unreasonable expectations at a time when his business was booming due to heavy rainfalls, expressing no empathy for me as a homeowner seeking help to manage distressing consequences of the heavy rainfalls.

They over scope - i.e. they add work that is not necessary, They do not show up when they say they will and do not communicate. For my project they did not do it properly and water leaked onto my basement from the holes they drilled into the foundation wall and damaged the flooring, wall and some furniture. They are not interested in compensating me for damages, nor lost wages, nor for work that was done by me that was not needed. These people make used car salesmen look like squeaky clean angels!!!

Read several positive reviews about Gil Lavy and his company, and decided to take a chance on…read morehiring him to install two residential metal security doors. Well, I should have had better instincts and listened more to the negative reviews on various websites! Gil seems personable but is very touchy-feely and kept hugging me to him --- WTF? He and his helper Emmanuel arrived on time and communication went well through the hiring process. I watched the gents install the front door security door first, and was relatively happy with how things went. However, I should have also watched them install the back door security door!!! The screws holding the security door to the house are showing through the frame, and the company through which I just purchased two new entry doors now says my back door warranty is voided because of this poor installation! I did not inspect the back door security door prior to paying Gil $370 cash and went about my busy day. He literally grabbed the money out of my hands and went about his merry way. Upon inspecting the back door security door, I saw the shoddy work, bent security door frame, visible screws, and crooked installation, and contacted Gil for a resolution. He came back out to my home with Emmanuel and asked what the problem was. I showed him everything I had concerns about, and he then said he would come back in a few weeks to fix "everything". I live by the motto ONCE BITTEN, TWICE SHY, and after initially agreeing to the proposed repairs, I contacted Gil again to request a partial refund and no further repairs. Time will tell, but I definitely would not recommend Gil and his groping hands to anyone wishing to have quality work done around their home.
