Wow wow wow...best carrot cake I've ever had...ever...I haven't been able to step foot in the actual bakery but was fortunate enough to try their carrot cake over Easter weekend and it was unlike anything else. The creamy frosting, well layered cake, and fresh taste left me craving more. I imagine their other desserts are just as good and can't wait to give them a try! read more

Absolutely wonderful service!! I came for kamala cookies, but instead, I got what they actually had in stock which was snickerdoodle cookie and pumpkin cupcake, and a pumpkin spice latte. Bredenbecks and Frosted Fox are truly delectable bakeries, but Night Kitchen is the most delectable bakery I've ever experienced. This city is so blessed to have so many top rated sweet shoppes. But about Night Kitchen. From the cleanliness of the cases to the peaceful bright airiness of the seating area, and the well stocked and clean condiment area. I could not have asked for a more enjoyable dining experience. The young lady who waited on me was patient and kind. She offered me the teabox to pick my tea and she Began to prepare it. Organic African Nectar from Mighty Leaf. It was so aromatic. The cherry pie had a perfect balance of tart and sweet. The crust was flaky and not overwhelming buttery. I sat in the rear in a comfortable chair and enjoyed my tea and pie slice. To go, I had two cupcakes and a slice of chocolate pecan pie. I will be back to this cute little spot very soon! read more

I have driven past the night kitchen for years now and I finally popped inside the other day to check it out. They had an assortment of cakes, cookies, pies and other sweet treats. I decided to get a couple of their cupcakes (pumpkin with a cinnamon frosting, red velvet, carrot cake and regular chocolate with a vanilla buttercream). I mainly got the pumpkin because I'm trying to see if I actually dislike pumpkin flavor or the hype of it... turns out I really just don't enjoy pumpkin flavors things. The pumpkin cupcake was my least favorite of the bunch. The chocolate was good, very standard cupcake however the carrot cake my goodness 10/10 exceptional! The red velvet closely followed the carrot cake. All the cupcakes were moist and not overly sweet with the perfect pairing of icing. The cupcakes range from $3-$4 depending on the specialty level. They also range in sizes a bit. The service was good, I was helped right away. They are also a cafe so I believe they do some kind of food too. There are a couple of tables for seating inside. We absolutely loved using Night Kitchen Bakery for our wedding day (June 9th, 2024). The staff was very easy to work with. They were so kind and really gave us a nice space and explanations during our dessert tasting. They allowed us to try 4 different types of cake + several other desserts we were interested in for our wedding. I remember the chocolate chip cookies and SMORES BARS being super yummy!!! We went with both of those for our wedding day ontop of cake to have a nice variety for our guests. My mom said our desserts went so fast, she looked one minute and they were gone several later. We LOVED how our cake + dessserts turned out! We will defintely use Night Kitchen Bakery again for future events! read more

Called 10 days in advance of the event to ask a question and order a cake. No call back. Went in to the store 6 days in advance to order a cake. It was during a snow storm and there were more staff working than customers. They refused to make the cake even though it was one they usually stock and I offered to prepay. This used to be our favorite bakery. We ordered cakes from them several times a year. Not anymore. We took our business elsewhere and were treated quite well at another bakery up the street. read more

The Night Kitchen's pastries, and baked goods are delectable. They have an amazing lemon curd cake, if lemon curd is your jam. Their cupcakes, and cookies are very delicious. One of my favorite things to get from NK are their sticky buns with walnuts. They are so good, that I usually buy the entire (ring) pan. For me, they have the perfect amount of sweet stickiness, and they are very buttery. I'm a fan of nuts, so the walnuts are a big bonus. I think they also offer it with raisins. The customer service is always friendly. In particular, Donna is always so nice, and inviting. The location is a neighborhood staple, they've been there for decades. They have limited indoor seating, and some tables outside, so that you can enjoy the elements while you eat. read more

My cousin introduced me to this bakery and I can only speak on the specialty cakes and let me tell you, they're STUNNING and absolutely the tastiest cakes I've ever had. That carrot cake (no nuts, which solidifies my firm belief that nuts don't belong in dessert...but I digress) was moist, flavorful, and I wish I had 19 more slices. I talked to Amy on the phone and she helped envision the cake that my dad and I would share for a joint birthday. I just mentioned books and scuba diving and they made it into the most amazing cake. I emailed the books and authors and I realized when I saw the cake that the designers must've looked up the books because they had the exact color scheme of the original books. The attention to detail was remarkable. I wish I lived in Philly because I'd go to this place every day of my life (okay maybe it's good I don't live in Philly...). Also they offer many discounts if you belong to local places (like the co-op). I love this bakery. I can't stop writing this review!!!! read more

Yesterday was my 50th birthday y'all. Yes, my big 5-0 just happened to land in the middle of a pandemic so of course I threw one hell of a house party. And I have to say that of all the good things I received my cake was the star of the show. I've had my eye on this cake for a few years ever since a friend posted a picture of hers on Instagram. I don't indulge in sweets because I have a milk allergy but for this occasion I made an exception and it was absolutely to die for. Sweet, tart, lemony and moist, if you like lemon bars or the like you will want this cake. You don't have to special order it because it's available daily but you should call ahead if you want an inscription. And don't be ridiculous and get the small one, just hand over your 30.00 for large and thank me later. read more

It's a cool little cafe/coffee shop/bakery. First things first: coffee. Though I usually go for a mocha latte, they didn't have their mocha/chocolate sauce when I went. No worries, I got a regular latte. What's important here, they use coffee ice cubes in it! Yes, you're not getting a watered down coffee. This time I was tempted for some baked goods and went for a little sampling. The chocolate chip cookie, a peanut butter cookie, and a snicker doodle, plus a carrot cake cupcake. My wife ate the cupcake, and I ate most of the cookies. Each one was good in it's own way. They're large, a mix of chewy and a bit crunchy around the edges. read more

I was craving a lemon bar so I googled bakeries that had them and came across The Night Kitchen. I went last week and grabbed 2 - for some reason the lemon bars were more like lemon goo (they did not hold their bar form at all and were more like a pudding) but the flavor was spot on so I tried again today and got an amazing (and properly "firm") lemon bar. I haven't tried anything else there but everything in the cases looks great. They have a great variety of things from cookies to cupcakes and bars of all sorts. Definitely check them out! read more

I had seen this place on Yelp and wanted to try it, so I marked it down in Yelp and on Google Maps as a place to check out if I was ever in the area. Just today, I had that chance when I was in the area for some blood work. Despite the name, the Night Kitchen is open early, which worked out well for me with my morning appointment. In fact, although they had probably just opened when I arrived, there were quite a few people outside waiting for their Thanksgiving orders and a fair number of people inside buying stuff. Looking at the menu on the website, I'd seen that they do a great job of marking down allergen-free items (egg, dairy, gluten, etc.), so I headed in to see what GF stuff they might have in stock. These items were the flourless chocolate cake and cupcake, the almond macaroon, and the coconut macaroon. I decided to ask for one of each of the smaller items to take to go. When we tried everything later in the day, it was all quite delicious. The cupcake has great smooth texture with deep chocolate flavor. The coconut macaroon is nice and chewy but not too crumbly. The almond macaroon is probably my favorite - hard outer shell with a very chewy interior. I would totally come back again for more baked goods, maybe even some not GF! Note, it's all street parking here, although I think some folks may have parked at Staples across the street and crossed over. read more

From start to finish the staff at The night kitchen bakery left my now husband and I feeling like we were in great hands. As one of the bakery's we could choose that worked with our wedding venue, this whole process was simple, fun, and personalized. The tasting we had was adorable, we sat in the bakery at our table they set up just for us and they explained everything. As someone who likes to bake myself I didn't want that "fake cake" taste or look and this was important for our special day. They did not disappoint! Our gorgeous wedding cake was the talk of the day and it was delicious! We have since been back for pastries and such and I usually tell anyone and everyone about them. For my birthday, my boyfriend commissioned a cake from Night Kitchen Bakery...as always, being loyal customers over decades, it was spectacular. He told the bakery elements about me, colors I love, themes that fit my personality, gave ideas to them and they created this. This cake is a dream come true to me. We truly were in awe by the craftsmanship and attention to detail. We did not want to cut it, I just wanted to look at it forever. We came up with taking high resolution photos to make a big framed photo of it to display in my house bc that's how amazing we found it. I truly cannot thank you enough. It's me as a cake!! Tonight's craving was a cupcake and I couldn't have been more pleased to have pulled over to satiate my craving at The Night Kitchen. The Night Kitchen is such a charming, warm and cozy bakery! All the cakes, cookies, cupcakes and more looked absolutely divine. However, since my craving was cupcakes tonight, that's what I stuck to despite being tempted to get more. Yay me! I picked one lemon curd cupcake ($3) which was yellow cake, icing and lemon curd in the middle. It was scrumptious! It was soft, had great flavor, with the perfect amount of sweetness and the lemon curd balancing it out beautifully--I savored every bite. With such a yummy dessert to smooth out the night, of course I am looking forward to trying so much more! :) Friendly service, seating inside and parking on- street. Enjoy! read more

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! My little sister works the weekend market down the street so my wife and I went over to visit her and get some veggies. Ended up getting scallops also. So I got an iced coffee because I am in need of instant gratification. Waiting for something to cool isn't my style. They have ice cubes made of coffee! I've only ever seen this done once by a coffee guru at his house that worked for La Colombe. Which is what they serve too. It's really awesome because as the ice melts it doesn't water down your drink. It strengthens it! I also got an everything bagel with Veggie cream cheese. This was excellent. One of the best I've had in a while. Especially since everywhere else started serving those Philly muffin bagels I don't like. I assume they are so good here because it's a bakery. My wife also got a blueberry muffin that I tried some of and it was perfect. Perfect amount of moist and sweet. read more

Very good. Great spot to visit in Chestnut Hill. If you blink you might miss it so be careful. Its across from staples and cvs on Germantown Ave. Try the fresh baked goods. Beat everyone to the fresh cinnamon buns. Especially on the weekends when they have fruit toppings. The chocolate cake, jewish apple & the cupcakes are personal faves. Get there early on Saturday to get to experience the farmers market on Winston. Enjoy!!! read more

They made the cake (5 tier) for our daughter's wedding on 5.6.23 at PineCrest CC and literally everyone raved how delicious it was as were the numerous mini desserts. The only reason I threw 1 star up, for what little filling there was in the Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, it was kind of flavorful. In addition to the annoyance of bringing a desert to a family party, which I was embarrassed of, it actually cost $28. This the 2nd let down out of 3 purchases. Great little bakery here in Chestnut Hill. From the cakes, to the cupcakes, to the cheesecakes, cookies, and danishes. This place has all you could want in the way of sweet treats. Great place if you just want to drop in and grab a snack or even a cake for a small gathering of friends. If you have a little time on your hands and want something special you can sit down with their cake designers and create something all your own. My fiance had my "The Office" themed cake designed here for my birthday and it was a big hit at my party. I posted a picture for you to check out. In things that are available every day, I have a few favorites. For a small treat, the cupcake sized cheesecake is amazing and its only a buck. If you're in for breakfast or brunch time, the Strata is incredible. So much flavor and huge chunks of bacon, you can't go wrong. My all time favorite has to be the praline cake with hazelnut buttercream. This is seriously the best tasting cake I've ever tasted. I will get it again. They've expanded their business recently so there is more than enough room for you to drop by, get some pastries and a coffee or tea and sit and relax. I don't know what happened, we used to like it here. I should have known there were going to be issues when I called and was told that I couldn't have what I asked-about. Eventually the employee on the phone said their website wasn't up to date and it hasn't been for a while. We went in the morning and picked-up some items. Very surprised. The jumbo cookies were soft and cake-like and bland. The frosted cupcakes were weird to us; they were dense and not sweet. The carrot cupcakes tasted like bad water was used, and the lemon cupcakes "with lemon curd" were okay, but the curd was only a small drop on the top; we thought it would have been a filled cupcake (especially for the price.) The egg tart is not too sweet, none of these breads are (aka high praise for any pastries ). Would definitely return! I thought the service was nice. I think there could be some challenges with English, but you could also just point!! My personal favorites are the sponge bread and the pineapple bun. So that's what I would get again. For people who love barbecue pork bun, I think you probably would want to get this.
