The short: - visited twice in 2020, but unlikely to visit again due to the poor staff knowledge. Will shop online instead The long: - poorest staff knowledge among multiple TNF stores visited in the USA and Canada. The staff had the least idea about the winter jackets, did not know the difference between the winter jacket types, looked at the tags for any question I asked and could not find an answer for most questions. - submitted a jacket due to warranty issues. Process was cumbersome and lacks clarity. My email was incorrectly recorded and hence I didn't receive the notification once a decision was made on my jacket. The process took ~2 months. - good covid measures: sanitation station, staff wore masks, physical distancing - no dedicated parking, parking options are limited or expensive as it's downtown read more

I actually love North Face gear, but this store is useless. I think generally they have a great reputation as medium-high quality outdoor gear maker, and I have owned several jackets which I was quite happy with. I have consistently seen North face gear on sale at places like Atmosphere Sportchek, for much better prices than directly from North Face. What up??? This location is obviously best suited for confused tourists on a shopping spree. Anyone actually planning to do outdoor adventuring would shop elsewhere for better prices, and variety. Went today to look at sleeping bags. Nothing in stock. Great company but this particular store location is an abomination. read more

I arrive and was nicely greeted by a sales rep. I walked upstairs to the men's section and was nicely greeted by the same sales rep. I asked him if they had an item on stock and he responded: "We just a franchise and we don't carry all items listed on The North Face website"... that's okay! I browsed a little and the same sales rep asked me if I was doing okay. I replied yeah and asked if they had anything in size XXL. "No, we don't have that size in stock. We're a limited store with limited selection"... that's okay, I'll continue browsing. I finally found the rare XXL jacket at $349.99. He followed me down the stairs like a fat person following the donut delivery truck. At the register, he said "Because of the homeless community out here on the Granville Strip, we have to watch everyone as they shop"... makes total sense - everyone is a shoplifter. Even the non shoplifting shoppers. Be prepared to be watched like a seagull watching a hotdog on the beach. It's not you, it's them. read more

Big North Face product fan but shopped a few times at this store and found that some of the staff can be surly when you are looking for something they don't have in stock, like a different size or colour. They will not help source it elsewhere or order it in either. (They have a lot of basic colours but selection is limited compared to the site.) Emailed North Face to complain and they advised that this is an independent store. Regardless not the best way to service customers. Any reason they can't order an item into the store? Note sure of the store on 4th avenue is independent but the staff are much friendlier and helpful. read more

More like stone face! I needed a very specific jacket I had seen online. So I figured I'd go try it out for size. But the staff at this store almost made it a point to ignore me!! And when I asked the one lady for help, she said she was busy and would fetch someone else for me, and she clearly forgot or just didn't give a shit. Well if you are coming in here for hiking accessories or gear you are at the wrong place. It's a small store off Granville and geared more towards the fashion (which is what most people seem to buy North Face for, at least lately). The customer service here was garbage. A bunch of young kids who were socializing and too busy to help. I found a jacket I liked and had to go up to them myself to try it on. Not sure if I'd come back. But if you are into the North Face clothes or jackets, I guess it's the only store I know of in Vancouver where you can walk in and just get what you need? read more

I went here to get outfitted for an upcoming trip to the Yukon. The staff were great at helping me find the right layering pieces and jacket to keep me warm and dry. This is a huge store for Vancouver and has a great selection of North Face products. read more

I went into the store on my lunch break hoping to find something to replace my 10 year old North Face and got the same service as I always have. I was in the store for about 10 minutes and visited both floors. I counted how many staff was on the floor and counted nine. I think one person was doing stock but I did pass her. Anyway, out of the nine staff working, not one of them said hello to me. They were all standing and chit chatting with each other. I walked down the street into Helly Hansen and was greeted by the sales person within 10 seconds. On my way out, I passed the same person who greeted me and she made sure that I was finding everything okay. I like North Face stuff, but the downtown store has really got to step up the customer service. Judging from the other reviews, I'm not alone in thinking this. read more

I was reluctant to go to the downtown store after reading the other reviews on this site, but my experience was completely different. Eco Outdoors recommended going there as they have the most North Face stock, plus a clearance area upstairs. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the store and the sales clerk could not have been more helpful, finding the fleece and other jacket that I wanted in various sizes and colours and looking up online to see if their other stores had any stock. Even when I was just wandering around the store looking various staff members asked if I needed any help. If I keep the tags on, I'm assured of a full refund after Christmas or exchange if need be. Very impressed! I would shop there again. read more
