Looking back I can't imagine wanting to ever leave. Actually I never did. But I leave I did, and I mourned it for the first decade. Then during the middle of the second decade I ceased to miss aspects and eventually came 'round to mourning it again, but for entirely unexpected reasons. But yesterday I reached into my 500Gb hard drive and scooped out a selection of CDs to cram inside my iPod Classic to listen to on a drive to a distant city called Plover (I like to childishly call it P Lover) for what was to be a single trip for work. It turned into two days, which wasn't a bad thing. During the drive I broke out Stoner Witch, The Melvins 90s major label disc. Listening to that in my very awesome new Pioneer car stereo was way better than my nice but not sturdy home speakers. So upon todays end of workday I wanted to find a used Cd store or a thrift store that might have something cool. Instead I found an awe inspiring little store that's chock full of EVERYTHING, that is if everything is rock music related. I didn't bother to look at the possibility they might also sell schlocky country music by crappy rock musicians that decided to go the so wrong right wing GOP path to Ooops. I wandered into the wrong thought. I found a place that is so awesome I will make this area a destination instead of only a place to stop for a whiz or perhaps because work brought me. GO! Don't hesitate. Radio Kaos Records is f'n the place!

My son was determined to find crystals at the beach for me as I'm a huge crystal lover but he didn't find any lol and was bummed so I looked out of curiosity to see if BRF had any crystal places. I didn't think there would be any nearby so I was shocked to find this place. Being it was almost 5 (closing time for today) we jumped out of the lake and packed up. I was thinking since it's an antique store there would be hardly any crystals so I was so excited to see they had a HUGE selection of crystals from all different price points. Whether you're huge into crystals or just like them because they are pretty you have to stop here. Beautiful selection of wonderful crystals. My son and I each found 2 we love and we are so happy. Even if you're not a crystal lover this store is a must stop as they do have a bunch of fun antiques that make you reminisce about your childhood (I'm not that old LOL) or remind you of your grandparents. Fun store and we will be back next year during our annual jellystone trip!! Also, the bald bearded guy was SO nice. So patient and so friendly. Definitely a small town feel.

Nice shop with lots of nostalgic items for just about anyone. Almost always open year round.read more

While the young staff of the cafe…read morewas pleasant, I was met with a very condescending & rude employee that I can only describe as female, mid-50s, heavy set with glasses + salt & pepper hair. And this was after I had already spent nearly $14 in the cafe on a sandwich, dessert item, and triple expresso. The only reason why I stopped at B&N in the first place was that I didn't want the nearby KwikTrip coffee, nor did I want to drive a few miles into downtown Appleton on this day. I was fatigued, and needed a good caffeine burst right away. Enter Starbucks cafe inside of B&N, which was the nearest venue close to my hotel next to the Fox River Mall. After ordering my food items and required triple expresso (my gold standard) from an incredibly polite twenty-something college female barista, I get this sneer from Ms. Grumpy Dumpy from her table as she was apparently on her break. I smile, of which she never changes her expression. It was as if I had ran over her dog or something with the look she was giving me. I wanted to ask the friendly barista "WTF is wrong with Mount Rushmore over there?" I thought nothing of it at further, so I didn't make it an issue. A few minutes later, the second barista (twenty-something male) indicated that my food order as ready, I waited patiently as my drink order was being prepared by barista #1. Ms. Large Marge decides to end her break, walk over to the counter to assert her authority. Without even looking at me, she picks up my coffee, and says "Here you go", then proceeds to nearly throw it onto the counter. Sort of stunned, I'm thinking "What in thee hayle just happened?" I wasn't in the mood to make this an issue, since I was tired. In addition, the two younger baristas were in stark contrast to their manager, considering how pleasant they were to me. As I start walking away toward the exit of B&N while shaking my head in disgust, I overhear the rude manager say "Next time, don't give him so much expresso." I so wanted to tell her that I had a triple expresso, and that if she had paid attention in 3rd grade math class, the volume of three expresso shots would be a larger quantity than one traditional expresso shot. Altogether, this experience motivated me to seek out better coffee venues in Appleton, mainly downtown and close to Lawrence University. Thanks to the awful attitude that I experienced from the Starbucks cafe manager inside of this B&N, I'll certainly never return to the cafe again no matter how bad my caffeine urges are. This manager is definitely not management material. If you don't like your job, fine. Don't take out your job frustrations on the consumer.

After an extensive search I was in despair over finding a designer who could provide flowers with the elegant, striking, luscious effect I was after. When my friend in Wausau heard of my flower woes, she offered to deliver from Randy's to Chicago. She had brought me to his shop, Evolutions in Design, when I visited her a couple of years ago, and his excellent taste stayed in my mind. So, thanks to my friend's generosity, I was able to relax and hand my flower problem over to Randy. I put my trust in his design sense. It was trust well-placed. The 12 arrangements were absolutely gorgeous, really breath-taking. They turned an austere, generic room into a place of warmth and beauty. The price was very fair for the richness of the arrangements I got. No skimping here, no fillers, just glorious flowers at their peak bloom. I never post reviews, but this was such a positive experience I had to pass on my recommendation. Thank you, Randy, thank you!

We weren't in the market for floral arrangements (just stopped in while strolling the downtown) but, we walked away with a ton of themed party décor ideas. They have incredible, curated spaces located in the upstairs rooms. No shortage of inspiration at this shop! This would be an ideal place to visit if you are planning a big surprise party or wedding. The shop owners mentioned two weddings in Milwaukee they had coming up so don't let the distance deter you from considering Evolutions in Design for your special day. I have a feeling it won't disappoint.
