Leaving technically 2 reviews for different locations. Michigan Birmingham location and Studio City location CA My first ever visit was their Michigan Birmingham location. I was in town visiting family and my close friend and I book massages before our girls day brunch!! I forgot my therapists name but he was amazing I want to say his name started with a D??. I got the Body Guasha add on and he focused on the areas of my body that needed it. It was my first massage in like 3 years. The front desk staff was pleasant and made us excited for our session. Also the lobby smells so good! A week or so after my vacation I wanted to get another massage after the travel back to Cali and my first week of work. I got the membership and went to their Studio City location. The front desk team Patrick and Cassie were so kind to me during check in and after my session. I was offered water and go to chat it up. I was informed that Studio City was the first location?? Well take my word that across CA to Mi the experience at NOW is amazing. Now I know my coast to coast go to locations. My Therapist Jonathan really helped with my upper back. I appreciate him checking in during the session about the pressure level. I will definitely be a long time member since I travel to Michigan a lot I have my own little piece of spa heaven! Thank You all for being kind and welcoming at both locations. read more

I always enjoy coming to The Now. I had a birthday gift card from friends that I was excited to use, and the experience didn't disappoint. Patrick at the front desk was very warm, welcoming, and fun-- a great way to bookend a relaxing experience. The message therapist, Darien, was so talented, professional, and kind. She asked about any aches and pains, areas to focus on, etc. and walked me through some things she noticed after the massage (like how your girl's dehydrated-- oops). She did some great deep tissue work and listened to my needs. It was an incredibly relaxing experience, and I was able to rest and be present the entire time, which is an anomaly. The space is stunning, the aromatherapy is on point, and the sound of waves transports you. I'm pretty sure this massage solved all my problems, and I'm a whole new woman. I can't wait to treat myself to a membership in the future! P.S. A little pro tip: leave yourself a little extra time for parking, as it can be hit or miss on Ventura Blvd. read more

I LOVE a good facial & admittedly was a little skeptical of this "add on" but wow, wow, WOW. Lora gave me one of the best facial massages I've ever had. Terrible experience. Just got off the phone with them and tried booking a massage for my girlfriend. Today's her birthday and they had availability for 1:30 that worked perfect for our dinner plans. Asked me 100 questions and finally took down my card information. I have been to this place 3-4 times and the first 2 times were total disaster. Then after few years I decided to give it a try. I came back with a friend and again horrible experience but I had purchased a membership so I immediately cancelled but they charged me one more session. So I had my last session yesterday and it was with Kristian. She was amazing and listened to what I asked. I will not give this place a solid 5 star review because the front desk girls are very unorganized, not very responsive and give you different information. I have spoken to Fantoo (spelling might be wrong) and each time I called back I was told she has given me the wrong information. Even the expiration date of my last session was off by few days when I called and checked with a different person. Also, when you purchase specials, the expiration date is very short and it's not very clear. So I bought some specials and they all expired and they never wanted to give you a courtesy credit. I am not sure I'll be returning cause I can't gamble on each session being good or bad and especially the front desk needs to be fully trained and make sure they don't give inconsistent information. read more

I usually never leave bad reviews, and I genuinely did not want to leave one because I actually really enjoyed my time at the massage studio and had a pleasant experience during my appointment. Unfortunately, when I woke up the very next morning, I had developed a pretty bad skin reaction that has been extremely uncomfortable. I obviously can't say for certain what caused it, but I'm not sure whether the sheets were not properly cleaned, the masseuse's hands weren't properly cleaned, or if I reacted to the oil/product that was used during my massage. When I woke up, I had a red, extremely itchy rash all over my back, along the sides of my back, on the backs of my legs, and on my arms essentially many of the areas that were in contact during the massage. I've been dealing with significant redness and itching ever since. It's really unfortunate because I genuinely enjoyed the massage itself and otherwise would have had a positive experience. I just wanted to share what happened because cleanliness, proper sanitation, and the quality of the products being used are extremely important, especially when they are coming into direct contact with a client's skin. read more

I was shocked to see that this place has such good reviews. This is my first time at The NOW - I typically go to Burke Williams or similar spas. The aesthetic had drawn me in, I had seen other friends post it online. I was extremely disappointed. I'm not sure if the masseuse I had was just inexperienced, or if this is something that would be consistent across the board. I felt that she was confused on what to do.. there were a lot of breaks in between and I felt like she spent almost 20 minutes on my neck yet less than 30 seconds on my arms and didn't even touch my feet. It wasn't a full body massage as I had expected. Additionally, the lack of walls is noticed. I could hear the front staff laughing and people rushing through, other clients talking, etc. it doesn't allow for you to truly relax and enjoy the massage. For the price, you're better off going to a reflexology spot. It offers the same sort of experience except you'd likely get a better massage. *editing to 3 stars because management reached out to correct the issue. I appreciated their efforts. read more

While I appreciate the good massage service, prefer Squeeze in Studio City hands down. Here there isn't separate massage rooms. Moreover squeeze has great set up with restrooms next to waiting area, and tea and water and nuts you serve yourself. The NOW appears to make focus more about selling extra services and items. For a firm massage you had to select extras and this means $30 more for monthly massage than Squeeze. read more

I want to start by saying this was my very first massage ever, so I don't know if anything I experienced is just normal for the industry or what. Please keep this in mind! I was gifted a massage for my birthday and was dropped off 15 minutes before my appointment like the welcome email suggested. I'm super glad I was driven there because the shop is at a busy intersection on Ventura boulevard and with only metered parking options I know I would've been circling for a while if I had driven myself. I was greeted by a receptionist who asked me to fill out an intake form, then offered water (which I declined). I took a seat and waited to be called in. In the meantime, another new client came in, sat down, and got seen at his scheduled appointment time (same appointment time as me). It would be another 5-8 minutes before I was called back, but I wasn't too bothered by this at the moment. My massage therapist brought me to a small room and asked what I was looking for. I told her I wasn't sure - this was my first massage. Plus the person who gifted this to me chose the massage type so I wasn't sure how to answer this?? I explained this to my therapist and she suggested something relaxing since it was my first time, which I agreed. She explained to me that just past the next door are the rooms, and that they are only separated by curtains so it was important to stay quiet and not talk, only whisper. She opened the door and led me down a hallway made of curtains, like the red room from Twin Peaks (rip David Lynch). The ambience was nice though, sounds of waves and the lights were dim and the air smelled like lavender. She led me into a tent and whispered that I should take off my clothes and lay flat on the table, then she stepped out and I followed instructions. For my first massage I really didn't know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it! My therapist did such an excellent job and I felt so relaxed and comfortable. Towards the second half of the massage however, I noticed someone talking in the "room" next to mine. I heard a guy clearly describe his "problem areas" and chattering/laughing. I was super bummed because this really took me out of the experience and I had trouble getting back to that afterwards. No one bothered to ask the person to hush either, it didn't stop until the guy got undressed and laid down (his belt buckle was clanging loudly) but by then my massage was almost over anyway. Once done my therapist let me know she would be outside the room with water and to get dressed. I followed her instructions and she led me back into that middle room where we first met. She asked how it was, etc. and I let her know she did a great job and I loved it! When I checked out I asked if there was anything else I needed to do since it was gifted to me and they said just need to know how much to tip. Kinda awkward but ok. I'm torn because I really really enjoyed the massage and I would love to come back and try it out again, but the curtain rooms felt like such a gamble - I have to *hope* the clientele is quiet and respectful when I go, otherwise my experience is ruined. Do I want to risk my time and money on that? I don't know. I'm still deciding on what to do. Maybe I'll try another place out that has walls? read more

I joined this massage studio after a fantastic first session with a different therapist. When I tried to rebook him, I was told he was just filling in -- but the front desk recommended Nick M. as a good fit for firm pressure. During my first session with Nick, I mentioned I wanted firmer pressure. He told me I'd need to pay extra for the deep tissue enhancement. That caught me off guard -- but I said okay and booked my next session with the upgrade. Well, I came back, paid the upcharge, and waited for the deep tissue massage. It never really came. The pressure felt lighter than the session before, and at the end, he told me I didn't really need deep tissue and shouldn't bother adding it again. That felt frustrating, honestly -- like I was being gaslit or upsold for no reason. If he thought I didn't need it, why push it? And if I paid for it, why didn't I get it? On top of that, my appointment started late, but the session still ended right on time. No adjustment. No apology. Just a shorter massage. I really do like this studio overall -- the space is great and my first massage was amazing. But this experience with Nick M. was a complete waste of time and money. I've since asked to be matched with a different therapist. I wouldn't recommend him if you're looking for consistency, deep pressure, or clarity around what you're paying for. read more

She was so amazing and had a great energy, and made me feel extremely comfortable for my first time having a prenatal massage. I had to change my plans last minute and made an appointment for the next day. What bothered me was they didn't explain abt how much I'll have leftover on the gift card since they gave me 50% off the massage, I asked the lady sitting in the front n she said 95 would be leftover on my gift card then I had left to get food and came back for my mom and a different lady said 55. definitely did not leave a 40 dollar tip but it's wtv I don't think I'll come back here due to the no communication. read more

I've had sessions with Anastasia, Skye, and Nick and they are all truly amazing in their own way. Anastasia is incredible for sports massage. Her technique is sooo precise and effective and she really understands how the body moves. She knows exactly how to work through tight areas and I always feel a noticeable difference in my mobility and recovery afterward. Skye is just as amazing. She has such great hands and the perfect pressure, and I completely relax the entire time. I walk out feeling lighter, calm, and honestly like a new person every time I see her. Nick is also so fantastic. I love how he incorporates intentional breathing into the session because it makes everything feel more connected and grounding. His flow is so smooth and thoughtful and you can tell he is really present in what he is doing. I went in for the first time on a weekday afternoon and I found parking right in front but I got lucky. The street parking on Ventura can be inconvenient but that's why they advise you to come at least 15 min early. Once I got it, the lobby ambiance is nice and smells good. I was able to get my first massage by Molly and she did amazing. She asked if I had any specific areas to work on so I let her know and she really focused on those areas. She also made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Inside the massage area, it is as nice as you see in the pictures. It's really quiet and peaceful and you just gotta soak in the moment. They have an ocean sound effect like if you're at the beach so I tried to imagine myself like I was laying down on the sand getting a nice massage. I got the NOW btw. Once we were done, I felt such a relief from my upper body as I felt really tight and a lot of tension. Like literally a weight off my shoulders. Would like to come back often to feel that same release although it is a splurge for me. read more
