I've been here before (a while ago) and hoped things had improved--but they haven't. The massage was excellent, but the checkout experience ruined it. I paid $120 for 90 minutes and tipped $20 (~17%), a fair, generous gratuity. Despite that, I was asked for "just $5 more." There's also a posted "suggested tip" of $30 for 90 minutes--25%, well above industry norms. And for perspective: $30 on a 60-minute session ( $80 service based on their 90-min rate) would be ~37.5%. Tipping should be voluntary, not forced. Don't shake down clients after a relaxing session. Good bodywork; entitled, aggressive tipping expectations killed the vibe. read more

Massage was very very good. I want to give five stars. The sad thing was that the massage therapist demanded 30% gratuity after I put 20% gratuity. People shouldn't demand gratuity and I'm not the only one who has the same concern according to the previous reviews.. 20% is generous enough. Also I was asked to pay cash and the person didn't want to issue me a receipt. . I put 30% after the therapist demanded it but it's very distasteful and insulting to be asked for more gratuity, they should not suggest own gratuity. it made me very uncomfortable after such a nice massage. I wanted to share my experience with this salon. I want to mention that this wasn't my first time getting a massage there, and everything had been fine before. However, this time was simply awful. First of all, the girl had cold hands, and even after an entire hour, her hands didn't warm up because she was only doing a light massage, despite my request for a deep tissue massage. Midway through the session, I asked her to switch me to another therapist because I wasn't satisfied. She said everyone else was busy and continued the massage. Toward the end, she finally started applying slightly more pressure, but she was so unprofessional that now my skin hurts. I tried reaching out to the owner for two days, but they never responded. Was desperate for a massage after a long weekend. Found this place online last minute, seemed close to home so I thought I'd give it a try. It was 70 for an hour. They have a sign with recommended tip amount. For a one star service 20 three star 25 and 30 for a good service. Tip should be a reflection of the service per percentage of the cost. The massage a decent not bad not amazing. I did advise the masseuse that I recently broke a toe that is healing so if she could not touch them at all. She accidentally got pretty close which I reminded her and she apologized. when wiping of the oil she forgot again and squeezed while rubbing pretty hard causing a Lot of pain on my toe. After me reaction she apologized again saying she forgot again. Overall decent massage with decent price. Tip again should be per service if the employees need more they should increase the cost of the massage to pay them appropriately. read more

I've gotten 20 over the course of my life. Before going to Aroma with my wife a month ago for a couples massage I didn't like massages at all. I had a wonderful experience for the first time. The staff is friendly and funny. Coming into a happy place is really nice. I read reviews here about people complaining it was too loud. Wear ear plugs If the sound of joy bothers you. Those reviews bother me. If other cultures are so awkward that you can't laugh and relax, don't be cheap and go to Burke Williams. I have been back at least 8 times in a month. Aroma Thai Massage was a nice discovery for me on Ventura Blvd. on the Sherman Oaks/Studio City border. They offer a combination of Thai, Swedish and deep tissue massage in a serene and calm space. They have single rooms or double rooms which gives couples an opportunity to get their massage together. The lady that gave me my massage was surprisingly strong for her size, almost to the point of being painful. However, some of that was due to my tightness and her trying to work out those knots. Her combination was primarily Thai, which was what I needed and for the cost of $65 for the hour, I think it was great value. The location is on a quiet stretch of Ventura Blvd, next to the BBQ world and a poke place. There's plenty of street parking, which unfortunately is paid until 8pm or they do offer free parking in their rear, but the entrance is only from one of the side streets as the other isn't a thru street. Overall, I had a nice massage and they offered a nice and clean space and offered enough variety for the amount of money they charged. I would definitely go back. read more

I had a horrible experience here. My masseuse was quite rude. She did very strong pressure on me during the massage and when I expressed that it was too hard she would giggle and say that "I needed it". Unbelievable. I was cringing nearly the entire 1 hour from the pain and nearly wanted to end the massage early. When it was all done the masseuse, who's name I didn't get since she didn't introduce herself, asks for a tip. Since I felt the massage was not satisfactory I did not feel the obligation or the courtesy to tip. She seemed slighted by this and simply took the money I paid for the hour and walked away from me. No thank or Goodnight. This female masseuse was so awful and rude I would not give this place a second chance whatsoever. Your money will be better spent elsewhere. Superb massage. Definitely have to say it can get noisy in there. The windows aren't super thick so you can hear the outside traffic and anyone that talks in other rooms because each room has no ceiling. However, the massage makes up for everything.
