A man behind came out from behind the counter to help me. He said my plate was very old and obsolete. He came up with the idea to cit off a center bar on the plate and maybe, just maybe it would latch again with it removed. While I waited for him to return another man was assisting my friend and he was just as helpful to her. We thanked him, paid for our purchases and left. Once home, I put the strike plate back on the door jam and closed the door. It worked! I can close and lock my door again. I'm giving Barnum Hardware and that men that work there a 5 star review. I will never go anywhere else for my hardware needs and my friend agrees.

The Hemlock salesman first said, unfriendly-like, that he didn't have the matching screw. I said I didn't require the exact match - only something that would not be a sharp contrast. He unhelpfully showed me a shiny silver finished screws. Then, I replied I was thinking black, because of the antiqued finish. He rudely showed 1/2' black screw. I already miss the helpful Posters Hardware in Fairfield. I ended up at Home Depo,t where they were surprisingly helpful and had what I needed at 1/10 of the price. I live in Virginia and my mom lives in Hamden and my brother and I wanted to get her a new grill because her grill was falling apart and not working properly. My brother had cooked on the grill this summer and it took forever to cook the chicken. I call the hardware store and worked with Frank, who was awesome and understood my request for the grill to be assembled and delivered. Frank delivered the grill to my mother as part of an early Xmas gift and she was very excited to finally have a new grill. I would highly recommend Springhill Hardware over the big box hardware stores. It was a great feeling to support a local resident and business that has been there since I was growing up in Hamden in the 70s.
