Smallish and cluttered, but has pretty much all the basic necessities. This place saved my ass when all the big-box stores ran out of Ice Melt and ice breaking shovels, and when I couldn't find the halogen bulbs I needed at said big-box store. Don't underestimate your local hardware store, ever. It's also supposed to be notable that they carry Webkinz... whatever those are. It must be important, because it's on the big handmade sign out front. read more

Extremely helpful staff. Fantastic hardware inventory for a small store. They also have a great selection of fishing gear,classic kids toys and fishing kits for children. Excellent display of gifts and trinkets for the home. They can help you with any project and have all the gear and products and knowledge you need to maintain a well functioning and efficient home! What I really like about Posters is the personal service. Believe me, I was a long time Home Depot lemming too, that is until I discovered the wonders of a local hardware store. Never a line, they have the same stuff, etc. Although it may seem trivial to some, what really sold me was how well they make copies of house-keys! I swear, every time I tried to get keys made at Home Depot, they would NEVER work, so frustrating! Posters keys always work the first time. read more

The owner Bert is very helpful and will special order you stuff if his suppler carries it (yes there is even more you can get other than what you see in this 100,000+ item store). If you really need some good solid advice or recommendation speak to John. Yea he is a little rough around the edges but he is one of the smartest guys I know and he knows about every subject. I have been a happy customer for over 2 decades and I'm still impressed. A family run business with a huge selection of products that boggles the imagination. They don't carry the lumber, major appliances (fridges, etc.) that the big box store like HD or Lowes do, but they have pretty much everything I seem to need and plenty of accurate and friendly advice. I've never comparison shopped them on price vs the big box stores but I value their convenience and service over any potential savings. I also think they still deliver stuff and have "house" charge accounts - so you can send the kids there to pick stuff up for you. read more

Three strikes and your out! I've been going to Poster's for over 20 years but now I'm done, and it's sad because I'm all for supporting the "small guys" in town. I've had a mustached gentleman for the last couple of times. First I had a problem last year with him matching my Calbot's stain, he response, more or less oh well. Next I saw a friend in the store and I just returned from a motorcycle ride telling my friend I was on the Merritt and the "Mustache" said "motorcycles are not aloud the Merritt" please stick to selling bolts because you don't have a clue. The last straw I was asking about some plastic dowels to make a tennis net on a cake for my recently deceased father-in-law, I said some time arts and craft stores have them. He rudely cut me off telling me about their crafts store but I needed something NOW and that store was closed. I said can I tell you what I'm trying to do he was talking over me so I walked out...... Thanks for the help "Stache! The stain I'll blame myself for buying it at a hardware store instead of a paint supply house. Look at the bright side, Lowe's opened up in Norwalk so hopefully the mustache can get a job there when Poster's is no more. Hemlock forever!!!! read more
