Yes, yes, they want you to believe the H2O is filtered. They feed you with fancy names to San Diego County Tap water. However, just a quick look around and you can tell it's a BIG BS SHOW! Why pay some outrageous per galon if you can get it from your OWN TAP AT HOME. This a convenient spot for me to pick up a refill of alkaline water when I am on this side of town. I prefer alkaline water when I am exercising at the gym because it tastes smoother than regular tap from the drinking fountain. The store has two outside vending machines that operate 24/7 in case you cannot make their regular business hours. I do wish that they had a bottle rinser next to the vending machines like they do inside. Regular purified water is $0.50 per gallon while a gallon of alkaline is $2. I have seen alkaline water for as cheap as $0.75 to $1 per gallon elsewhere, but it requires driving to another part of the city which can be a hassle and a waste of fuel. Parking in this lot can be tricky depending on what time of the day you arrive, especially if it's during lunch or dinner when the plaza is more congested. read more

They have nice clean tasting water and alkaline water as well to choose from . The store offers lots of bottles many different color selections , all sorts of shapes and sizes for purchase. The hours are good they are closed on sunday . The staff is a bit mediocre as far as friendliness for my personal customer service tastes . The 4 stars are for price that is very reasonable and convenience to my home as well as the retail selections . Would really be nice if they offered a pre pay ahead gallon service with perks for doing so . I wouldn't have to charge a 2.30$ charge on my card every time I shop for water . , if they do offer something like that I don't see it advertised . The clerk on Saturday, April 20, Amber. Took offense at my asking her to tell me how much I was getting and how much it cost there was no one else in the store. I had both bottles on the dispenser had a 1 gallon and 3 gallon, and she started giving me grief because I didn't tell her immediately That I said what is the problem and she pulls out her phone and starts videotaping me telling me she was going to tell her boss how rude I was, I said she's the one being rude and left. I know good people are hard to find, but this person below standard, she's not gonna last for very long. I'll bet you a dollar. read more

Went back a second time to buy water, which tastes great. I asked questions about their water quality test reports, which are posted in the store and online. Due to their Covid 19 protocols some of the posted reports in the store are not accessible, which I complained about. They relented and I was allowed to view the reports. I spent maybe 10 minutes in the store viewing the reports, buying water and chatting with the employees. I also have received very informative emails from the store owner, I am assuming. Unfortunately, after the owner viewed the video tape of my visit she essentially banned me from the store. She used very harsh language describing what she perceived as a bad person. Lied about a couple things. I apologized online for my transgressions if any, but feel she went too far with her ugly comments and banning and asked for her to apologize. Crickets. Great store, great water. Just be careful how you ask questions about their water testing reports. Their reports appear to be adequate but I don't know if they are as good as they could be. And whatever you do don't imply they are hiding anything. You will be banned from the store and your character will be assassinated. Now I am wondering if they are hiding something. Oh well. Now I won't drive 10 miles to their store. I will buy from the local store a few miles away. I expect a vitriolic response if any. Thick skin in place. read more

I'm officially a water snob! After years of drinking either bottled water or using a PUR filter, I made the plunge and bought water at the OB Water Store. I'm really glad I did. The water tastes really clean and makes me feel like a better person for not buying bottled water. (Yay for being green!) The owner was really nice, explained how the reverse osmosis process works and suggested which containers I should get without breaking an arm and a leg. I like that they offer the best water filtration available, there are three options: - 8 step osmosis - alkalized water - living water I buy the cheap stuff but I've heard that living water is excellent for people who are athletes, or ill.. they are usually the ones who can tell the difference between the different waters. This place is legitimately wonderful and the people running it seem to take their reputation seriously. It's a little on the pricey side for water, but in a town shocking bereft of quality water options, this location really stands out above the crowd. The water, both the alkaline and non, are clean and delicious tasting. They keep a good assortment of bottles, both large and small, and their BPA free selection is nicer than I've found at other places. Add the friendly staff and great location to the mix, and its hard to find an argument against giving this location five stars. Try the alkaline water. And before you roll your eyes, I get it, because I roll my eyes at those kinds of things, too, but I tried the alkaline water on a whim. I immediately noticed that I was more energized, less thirsty, and that I recovered more quickly from workouts (or hangovers). I can't tell you why this might be true, even after investigating it. I do understand that it sounds like pseudo-science in a lot of ways. All I know is that it works for me and, even if its all my head, I'll keep it working. even if you've tried it before and didn't experience the results I have, I'd recommend you take a chance and give it a try here, because quality always matters and the O.B. Yep, the OB Water Store is pretty much as awesome as everyone else says it is. I was SO sick of drinking city water that I really needed to get something else going. Visited the OB Water Store & they hooked me up with a crock & stand + 3x 3-gallon BPA-free (woohoo!) water jugs. And, I got my fill-up for free because we're first-timers! The girl working there was super friendly & helpful. I'm in love with my new system already, and since I work in OB (and hope to live there soon), this place is very convenient for me. They really know their stuff when it comes to water, and it's not going to be an expensive upkeep. I'm willing to invest a bit of money in good water, because it's the main beverage I drink. Plus, this is way more eco-friendly than buying small bottles, and it's much more affordable, too. Visit the water store! We love getting our water from here! They have a clean and simple filtration system and Alkanine station setup inside where you can fill up your empty bottles. Next to that station is where you can flip your bottle over to give it a nice rinse before filling it up. The store also provides flatbed carts to help carry your bottles to your car provided that they are returned after you unload them into your vehicle. On the exterior wall of the store are 2 water dispensers where you can also refill your empty bottles. The store sells everything you need to house your water supply. You can also ask about their pre-paid system which can save you time and money during each visit. Their water taste very clean and crisp which keeps us coming back for more. This is our preferred water store and we will continue to drive out here for as long as they are around. read more

Review summary in advance of reading: I don't really say much (useful) that hasn't been covered by all of the other 4 and 5 star reviews. After some detailed analysis and deep thought, I've concluded that working in this water store would be the ultimate job for a stoner. You just blaze up, hang out with your dog and a magazine all day, and sometimes people come in and pour water out of one of the faucets, and you take their money. There's a smoothie shack next door, a park across the street for when you just want to shut down and go chill for a while, and you're a couple doors down from the Seedless factory/outlet store, so you can get all your t-shirts and stickers with funny sayings on them. And all you sell is water - how do you mess that up? Okay, I have no clue how much ganja the people in this store are consuming on a regular basis, but I do know that they're all very friendly and that they actually know quite a bit about the water they sell. They keep signs posted to let customers know when exactly each piece of filtering equipment was serviced or replaced (pretty darn often), and they can give a pretty good lecture on the benefits of RO water. I'm not sure I like RO better than really good 'source' water, but that stuff's expensive and it's not exactly environmentally inconsequential to bottle and truck that stuff thousands of miles. And SD water sucks. Sucks dick. My mom lives in the mountains about an hour east of town and the water from the tap up there (a private community well) is like liquid orgasm, but tastier. When I go visit I'll fill up my 5 gallon bottles, but when I don't this place is right up the street from me, has been happily meeting my hydration needs for almost 3 years, and is dirt cheap at 35 cents a gallon. Much better than city water, just as good as most of the bottled stuff in the store, way cheaper. read more

Great customer service. They went above and beyond to help us after our personal, full, 5 gallon jug broke in our car! And..it was pouring rain. He plugged in his shop vac and let us use it to remove some of the water from our car. We bought a new jug for $15, he filled it, and we were on our way. This place is amazing. The owner is super nice and gets to know you. My husband and I have been going for a little over a year. Even after we moved out of Pt. Loma we've continued to go there. The water tastes delicious and clean. It doesn't have that slimy filmy texture that some places do. I've grown up drinking distilled water and can probably count the times I've drank tap water on one hand. I'm extremely happy we found this store, because we no longer have to spend money on buying Zephyrhills and create more waste in the world w/ all the plastic jugs. We have a 5 gallon and a 3 gallon reusable bottles that we fill up once a week for $2.80. It's great! read more

If buying all your drinking water seems ridiculous, you probably haven't tried San Diego's municipal supply. Our tap water is nearly undrinkable: extremely hardened with chemicals, tastes terrible, and leaves residue in containers when left too long. The OB Water Store is an awesome and affordable alternative. Seriously, their water is better than anything you'll get anywhere else. You might chuckle at that, but try it slightly chilled and you'll understand. I have actually received compliments from houseguests on how good this water tastes. The shop is staffed by friendly folks, and the outside vending machine means you can fill up anytime. Because of this place, I might have to live in OB for the rest of my life... read more

"Oh, I just use a Britta, my water tastes fine." Dude, you water tastes like it is pumped straight out of the SD river- it sucks. A quick aside to all Britta users. First, Brittas make decent water more palatable, but they can't do anything for SD water. Second, how many of you actually change the filters religiously? Third, try drinking your Britta water at room temp- if you chill anything in the fridge, it loses its taste- true for beer, wine, and yes, its true for your "filtered" Britta water. Ok, back to the review. Its Easily a 5 star establishment. We all know SD water sucks. We all hate paying $1.29 for a gallon at the store. The solution? The OB water store! Granted, if you don't live in the neighborhood or frequent dog beach weekly, this ain't for you. But their water is deeeelisshh!!! At least as far as water goes. I have three 3 gallon bottles, that I fill up about once a week. I prepay $35 for 100 gallons (for those of you who struggle with math, that's .35/gallon). So I drop in, fill up, give them my name, and be on my way. It is conveniently located on the corner of West Pt. Loma and Bacon. Even if this isn't your normal entry/exit point for OB, it certainly can be once a week. Just stop by, fill up your water Sigg, Kleen Kanteen, or Nalgene (you live in OB, you know you have one) and give it try. read more

Love this little treasure near Rob Field! I'm a self-admitted tree hugger. If it can be recycled, rest assured I will make sure it finds its "home." So, keeping plastic bottles out of our landfills is a huge part of that. The OB water store makes that happen for me and at a very cheap cost. They even have a container cleaning station with O2! BRILLIANT! The guy that is usually there is absolutely great! He even takes the bottles to my car after I pay. They take CCs or debit card. Cash makes it a bit cheaper for you. I will say that I like the prepaid system that The Water Lady in North Park with customer accounts. You pay $XX amount up front and get a discount. When it comes time to "pay" for your water, they just deduct it from your prepaid amount. OB Water store may have this already, but I'm unaware of such a thing. read more

I just discovered this great little treasure of a store. They relocated into my Souplantation plaza. I have been trying to decide on a permanent water solution for the family which includes a finicky dog that hasn't drank the water willingly since we relocated from the east coast. The owner was kind, informative and answered our questions when we walked in. He also gave us a free gallon to try. That's how confident he was in our return..... He was right, the water was great! Tastes great, smells great and best of all we didn't have to force it down our dogs throat! She loved it. For $.40/gallon it is a steal for our new peace of mind. We use about 13 gallons/week too. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Our second visit to the store was with our 5 gallon containers which had a distinct odor to them and the young woman there not only showed us how to clean them out with a paper towel and water but explained the difference in plastic levels, such education who knew? read more

Tasty water. I know that sounds silly, but it's so true. I am a picky water person and this stuff is pure as can be. Go in and the owner will tell you all about his $2000 reverse osmosis filtering system. He is really odd/funny guy. This place is the typical O.B. business. The owner's dog serves as the greater, they even have water bowls out for other dogs. The owner will help you fill your bottles and tell you how to properly clean them, then help you out to the car. They also have an outdoor fill station, so you can go after hours :) read more
