The minuses: it's not well kept up. Weeds and overgrown grass everywhere. An otherwise nice view of the lake blocked by recycle bins and about 10 trash cans. At least one dog owner did not pick up after their pet so I picked up a fair amount of dog poop including one that sat in the concrete outside the laundry room for 3 days. The laundry room was surprisingly clean but some lowlife left a giant bag of their kitchen trash in the trash can. I don't think the park is looked after on a daily basis or this would have been picked up before I had to do it. As others have said this park is mostly occupied by older, unkempt RVs and motorhomes. Lots of trash everywhere tho maybe left by the day fishermen visiting the lake. Our outdoor space was very thorny so our dogs kept getting them stuck in their paws. Would not visit again. We would if it was maintained.

We paid for a campsite expecting a reasonable night's sleep and instead spent most of the night awake listening to our neighbors. Because we got virtually no sleep, we made the decision to leave a day early. When I texted the host, I wasn't even asking for a refund--I simply requested a complimentary night for a future stay as a goodwill gesture. The request was immediately denied because of their "no refunds for early departure" policy. The issue isn't that we left early. The issue is that the campground did not provide the quiet, enjoyable experience that guests are paying for. Hiding behind a policy while ignoring the reason a guest is leaving is poor customer service and shows a complete lack of concern for the guest experience. If you're looking for a peaceful campground, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

We loved taking morning walks with our dog around the property and just soaking in how quiet and serene and perfect for unwinding together. But what truly made this stay special was the management. She is hands-down one of the nicest, most attentive people we've ever encountered at any RV park. Friendly, helpful, and clearly proud of what she runs, and it shows. I was a local kid who worked my summer jobs cleaning cabins, then at the pool snack bar and then, finally, at the coveted lifeguard position at the two pools. All the "city kids" would come every summer and I had my "summer friends" when I wasn't in school. It was magical. I now live in San Diego and my children can't understand that magic so I try to compare it to movie, "Dirty Dancing." They are jealous. I don't blame them; Pine Grove in the 1980s was something out of a movie. Anyone who was there has endless stories about the place. I read someone on here say the new owners keep the local "riff raff" out... I don't know what that means but back when I was a local kid working there, the city kids and local kids loved meeting every summer. I hope that kind of kindness isn't lost on this generation.

I really didn't know what to make of Pine Grove Resort when I first encountered it, looking for…read morevenues to host a summer-camp-themed camping trip for my fiancee and a couple dozen of our friends. The reviews were sparse and mixed but the space looked beautiful online. I reached out directly by email to Joe, describing the type of event I wanted, and he was very responsive and helpful and generous. First of all, if you read nothing else, I have to rave about the infrastructure. Joe and the folks over there are really bright, mindful, and hardworking - and you can see from what they're building. The bathroom/shower complex near the campground is new and well built. A stone's throw away, the pool area is beautiful and clean, with a majestic lawn to run around on and great facilities. We rented the Mooncat Tiny House and the Glamping Tent and they are both cute, well proportioned, and well designed. The owners have beautiful things and great taste - we found the kitchen stocked with Japanese knives and Staub & Le Creuset cookware. They've cleverly set up mesh WiFi around the whole area that, while not reliable enough for Zoom calls, is impressive. I got a chuckle when a friend, sitting on a stump, asked me for the WiFi password. Even the structures that aren't new are taken care of; things are lived in and not luxury, but nothing is dilapidated. When I first got there, it took some time to get my bearings. The property is rather large (we never really did explore the east half of it) and there are a lot of structures, some inhabited and some available to rent. Folks of all stripes seem to live there at all times of year. I think the thing that first threw me off is you're never TRULY out of eyesight or earshot from someone, despite the woodsy environ. There's often the odd person or small group sitting on a porch, working on a project, hanging by the pool, or walking a dog - it's more like an unstructured neighborhood in the woods than a secluded campground. I soon met Joe and found him to be a helpful and well-meaning fellow. In time, folks in my group struck up conversations with the other folks around. Noah and one of the kids came to clean out the glamping tent for us and were very welcoming as well. Everyone was friendly and I came to realize this was a community of folks who had come here - perhaps some temporarily - to get away from the outside world and find some time and space for themselves. The attitude as I see it was rather healthy and positive. People there seem to be generous of mind and spirit. I was nervous that our group - 30-somethings drinking and floating in the pool, yelling and cursing at one another as we played games like spikeball and cornhole - would be an unwelcome nuisance, but the residents were really kind, accepting, and even fascinated by our antics. I would recommend Pine Grove highly to anyone, but mostly I think I've found a gem that I hope is around for years to come. I think when we all have young kids and want a place to spend a quiet weekend where they can explore, this will be our oasis. Pretty nice and relaxing stroll/jog with a water feature if one doesn't want anything too strenuous…read morewith incline. It is basically several trails that go around a reservoir (Spring Lake). The circumference of the lake is about a 2 mile flat loop. Upon entering the park felt very bizarre. You leave a nice neighborhood with nice homes then in a blink of an eye, you are surrounded by bare trees covered in moss surrounded by tons of small flat boulders. It was so bare and quiet that it felt like this portion of the earth had died. Very bizarre. You'll eventually find the parking lots which all connect together in some form. There's an $8 fee here. You can't see the lake from much of the parking lot, maybe in a few spots like where a boat ramp might be. I had to use a map in my hiking app to find which direction the lake was at. Once at the lake there are pretty much 2 trails that go around the same lake. 1 is at lake level and is a dirt trail. So it has a more hiking feel as the trail is rough with lots of heavy brush on the sides. Even tho lake level you'll only get a glimpse of the lake in only a few spots. That's because the brush is so thick and over grown that it'll block views to the water since you are at lake level. The second trail is a paved trail that is above lake level, so from most spots you are looking down on the lake. This is the trail to take if you want to take pics or just admire the water views. Also the trail to take if you want to bike or jog as it is a wider and smoother trail than the dirt one at lake level. I saw a separate swimming lagoon on one of the corners. It wasn't in operation in October when I went but looks like it could be a popular spot during the warm summer Santa Rosa months. This area of the lake is also the most landscaped as I saw lawn areas with picnic benches and nicer trees alongside the lake, even some very pretty small redwoods. I enjoyed my views most on this side of the lake. You can also add length to your route by connecting this loop with other trails. There's even a loop that connects this loop that goes to another smaller lake, which would make your route now closer to 4 miles. Nice spot may even have to bring a group here someday for a picnic day if ever back in the area.

They have a coffee truck available only in the mornings. Bathrooms and showers are clean. There's a coin machine by the store to get quarters for shower usage. I recommend this campsite. It is unique and majestic.

I have been bringing my family for 6 years and have never had such a poor experience than this past time, in my life. We have invited numerous families to join in our tradition to make it fun for our kids. Friends, neighbors, friends of friends. The trip was one my kids looked forward to every year. We LOVED Gualala River Redwood Park. We have never had any issues or complaints and although we have invited many we all have our own groups that huddle together at night for cooking and campfires. We left our trip unknowing that there was anything wrong until the owner wrote an email a couple days later that was so rude and banned certain families from ever coming back. We were told we had 6 noise complaints towards our "group" this was untrue. 3 different families had 2 noise complaints each and none were related to each other. We were also told there was an altercation that happened when someone from our "group" was denied firewood, which also was not true and didn't involve the "group" it was a single person. One family that was banned had zero noise complaints, and another family that was not even on the camping trip this year but reserved for next year was banned. The owner was unwilling to reason or change her mind on any of this. I have never felt so unfairly treated in my life. My campsite never received a noise complaint and I was banned because I had the same last name as someone who did. Nothing that happened warranted a ban from ever returning. We were always respectful and would have never done anything to jeopardize not being able to come again. I am blown away with the unprofessionalism of the owner and her unwillingness to judge this situation fairly for all the families that weren't involved with breaking rules at all. The place may be beautiful but you are supporting an ugly person... I feel sorry for her, must be a sad life to live when you have so much hate for people that have only shown you love and loyalty. Rules are important but being fair and having a willingness to work with long time coming families that don't ever make mistakes but did one time is also important. Just down to the tide pool area (or whatever ya call it), checking out rock formations. I found a couple of heart shaped rocks and even made a face from rocks. I called him "stoned"... We recently had a two night stay at Wildhaven, with two other families. We had booked about 6…read moremonths in advance and every time I called with questions, the staff was very helpful, friendly and helped answer my questions in detail. The only disappointment was that one of the three riverside tents was not next to the other two, even though we had booked the tents in 1 reservation. I thought I had confirmed they were next to each other, but it did not work out that way. While we were at Wildhaven, we had horrible rainy weather. However, our family still had a blast! The rain didn't stop the kids from biking, scootering, fishing, etc. We made the best of it and everyone had a great time. The facilities were clean, the tents were spacious, the beds were very comfortable and the website accurately described all amenities. We paid extra for the early check in and it was worth it because it gave us more time to get settled in before heading to the river and maximizing our first day. I would recommend water shoes for adults and kids because the river is really rocky. We failed to bring water shoes and lost two pairs of sandals that floated down stream. We look forward to another trip at Wildhaven :)

We loved it so much that we planned to make it an annual family tradition. Unfortunately, this trip completely changed my opinion. This time we booked one of the cabins instead of a tent. My reservation clearly stated there would be four guests, yet the cabin only had three pillows. My kids slept on the futon, and the blanket provided for them had obviously not been washed--it was covered in dog hair and goathead stickers. When I asked for extra pillows and blankets, I was told they didn't have any available. I ended up having to Instacart pillows and blankets on the second day because it was too late to get them the first night. My kids used my blanket that first night. I understand and appreciate that Wildhaven is dog-friendly, but I think there should either be designated pet-friendly cabins or a much more thorough cleaning process between guests. What if my children had severe dog allergies? That simply isn't acceptable. The campground was also completely booked, so I expected the shared facilities to be cleaned more frequently. Instead, the men's restroom was filthy by 7:00 p.m., and the cleaning log showed it hadn't been serviced since 4:19 p.m. The handwashing and dishwashing stations were also out of paper towels. The final disappointment was the wagon policy. Campers are encouraged to buy firewood on-site to help prevent the spread of invasive insects, which we happily did. However, we were told we had to pay to rent a wagon just to transport the firewood and ice to our cabin. Last fall, guests were allowed to use the wagons at no charge for this purpose. Charging extra for something that supports campground rules and conservation efforts felt frustrating and unnecessary. Wildhaven is still a beautiful property, and that's what makes this experience so disappointing. We truly wanted this to become a yearly family tradition, but after this visit, I don't think we'll be returning. I hope management addresses these issues because this place has so much potential, and our first experience showed just how great it can be.
