We heard about this place from a friend who told us to try the ribs. They were delicious! I always try to order something different from my husband so I asked the staff their favorites (they at first mentioned the tacos but I wasn't feeling that adventurous) so I landed on the pork plate and it was cooked perfectly! They have a variety of sauces available, I personally like the sweet sauce but my husband said the hot sauce was great too. We also tried the baked beans, potato salad, Brunswick stew, and our very picky 3 year old got the chicken fingers and Mac and cheese. This is a kid who won't eat chicken if it isn't chick-fil-a and she ate her WHOLE MEAL! The Mac and cheese tastes home made and is creamy and not dried out. It's honestly the best Mac and cheese I've ever had at a restaurant. The potato salad is savory but delicious, it almost has a smoky flavor to it but has a mayonnaise/mustard base. The Brunswick stew has a little spice to it but not too much, I could've just had a big bowl of it and been happy. My husband ate all of the baked beans before I could try them...so I assume they were equally delicious. The meats can be eaten without the sauce and they have flavor that is complimented by the sauces. Even the garlic toast was good. My family literally ate every bite of food on the table. The restaurant was clean, the bathrooms were spotless (which is important when you have a toddler who touches everything), the food was amazing and the staff was great. I literally have nothing bad to say about this place other than it is sadly too far away from my house to come here more frequently. But we will definitely drive back just to eat here. read more

Went to Oink joint the other night in Zebulon haven't been in a while. The Tuesday night special Pork Sandwich with Tots and Tea was excellent as usual on this trip I decided to try the stew for the first time sorry I was not a fan flavor was ok the problem it was so thin and watered down the flavor was drowned very little meat just juice so thin it was drinkable. One other issue I did not notice until I got home it seems I was charged a small service fee what for I have no clue what was worse I also was charged a 25% tip without my approval yes it was my fault for not being observant something I will be on the next visit I say this to let you know that even though they have excellent food (exemption the stew) be aware and inspect your receipt. Now this could have been an accident by the cashier and if anyone has or has not experienced this please let me know. Again great food and I hope it was an accident. PS I am a generous tipper but I do so case by case and I can't see tipping 25% for walk up counter service. read more

Was buying some hardwood in Concord and stopped here for lunch - a fortuitous choice! Had the pulled pork sandwich with a side of baked beans. Delicious! The pork was plentiful and tender and juicy - melted in my mouth. The beans were great - not too sweet, and a good portion. Service prompt and courteous. There are some amazing bbq places in Georgia, and this place stands up with the best of them. No Ribs on Saturdays or Sundays until the evening because... They are on the smoker. This is the real deal. Zebulon is a charming tiny dot of a town that makes you want to walk around and then stay a while and read a good book. Fortunately there is a really warm used bookstore filled with southern hospitality called A Novel Experience in case you forgot yours. The pork was shred-it-with-a-plastic-fork tender without being mealy and the brisket was chopped fine with fantastic crispiness mixed throughout. Baked beans had lots of deep black pepper flavor without being overpowered with bacon which can be common. I loved them. The Brunswick stew was not my favorite but lowest on my priority list. Double bonus is that the bathrooms were very clean - always a good gauge of overall standards. Worth going way out of the way for, and let's face it, who wouldn't want to say they went to a town called Zebulon! read more

Great local bbq joint that almost always delivers a great meal. Pulled pork sandwich is great as well as the bbq burrito and bbq tater tots. Mac and cheese is very rich and probably my favorite side item. On weekends they serve ribs which are kinda hit or miss. I'm grateful my friend and fellow yelper Natalie S. recommended this spot for a dinner meet up when I was in the Macon area. It's a little bit of a haul from, well, anywhere, but certainly a great meal if nearby and worth the drive if you're a BBQ aficionado. That mac and cheese is a must order as far as I'm concerned. It's creamy and cheesey with just the perfect bite still left to the noodles, and the cheese-it crusty topping is icing on the cake. For the entree, I went with the fatboy sandwich, and oh em gee, y'all, it was flippin' fantastic. They were out of the brisket, so I subbed pulled pork, and it's a substitution I would probably request in the future. It's a heart attack on bread, but jalapeno mayo, pimento cheese, and all the fixins never tasted so good. It was surprisingly packed for a Friday night in the bustling (not) town of Zebulon, so you may have to circle the square for street parking and wait for a moment for a table, but I guarantee it's worth it. Then I asked one of the people in the meeting and they recommended Oink Joint as well. It was just around the corner so I headed over. It's a nice sized place with lots of seating. You order at the counter so I went up and checked out the selection. They have all of the usual suspects, such as ribs, brisket, and chicken. I decided on the smoked chicken sandwich and baked beans. The chicken was pretty good but I wished it had a little more smoke flavor. I tried the sweet and the vinegar sauces and preferred the sweet so I put that on the sandwich. The baked beans seemed to be mixed with the vinegar based sauce, so I didn't care for them very much. It wasn't the best BBQ I've had, but I will have additional meetings in Zebulon and will probably come back to try a few more dishes! read more

The food was really good but they left the meat off of my plate entirely. Brisket plate with no brisket lol. However I was not at all impressed with the fact that on a very busy Friday night when I ordered my food, there was nothing but teenagers running the show both in the front and the back of house. The girls up front told me themselves that they are all minors! When I asked to speak to the manager they had to go get her from her office!!!!! Then the manager gave me NOTHING but attitude and wanted to over talk me and try to cut me off mid sentence the entire time I was trying to talk with her. This used to be my favorite place for BBQ. Not anymore. I ordered the two-meat plate with brisket and chicken thighs and a side of smoked sausage. The brisket was so dry I had to drown it in bbq sauce to choke it down which completely defeats the purpose of eating brisket as the sauce will cover any smoke and meat flavor there from the brisket. The chicken thighs were so small and it is very hard to mess up and make chicken thighs dry but they were. The smoked sausage had good flavor but the top was so dry it took away from the enjoyment of eating it. For my sides, I had baked beans and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was soggy and not the way it used to be AT ALL and the baked beans while they had a good flavor they were too spicy. My son's brisket sandwich was also very dry and hard to eat. The sweet tea was good and the girls up front were very pleasant. When I spoke with the manager (owner's father) he got visibly irritated and became condescending and not friendly at all. I would give them no stars if I could and I hate that because this place used to be my absolute favorite. read more

They had all the standard plates, but also a few different things, like BBQ tacos, burritos and a Reuben. I tried a few flavors or the tacos and my husband had the pork Reuben. This is the best and most fun BBQ around. They have a BBQ Burrito, BBQ Nachos, BBQ Tots and other more traditional offerings. Definitely don't get tired of the selection. I saw all the 5 star reviews for this place and was somewhat in the neighborhood so decided to give it a try. I'm also a barbeque fan and am always looking for a good barbeque place. I would say based on eating lunch here once that this is really decent place and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I had a pulled pork plate with beans and collards as sides. The pork was tender and moist, and they serve a pretty good portion for the $8.50 price. The beans were excellent and were not too heavy on barbecue sauce, and were somewhat spicy hot, which gave a good contrast to the pork. The collards were just OK with nothing special about them. The server was very friendly and the service was fast and efficient, though it wasn't too crowded when I was there. This is not a sit down restaurant; you order at a counter and your food is then delivered to you. They have standard fountain drinks but no alcoholic beverages. The decor on the interior walls is interesting. I would strongly recommend eating here if you're in the area and want a quick barbeque meal. I'd like to come back and try some of the other items on their menu. read more

First visit to the Oink Joint. The pulled pork sandwich was great. I'm normally a fan of vinegar based sauces (and they do have one) but their sweet sauce was very good. The fries were just OK (kind of reminded me of the frozen ones from the grocery store) so I'll probably try a different side next time.
