This place is a gem. The owners are amazing people who really want to make you feel like you're one of the family. I'll never forget my time I spent here. One of those memories that you will cherish until you perish from the Earth. Livin' It Up at the Old Lewiston Inn The Old Lewiston Inn is located in a tiny town that was once bustling with miners. Situated just 17 miles east of Weaverville, the inn provides the perfect spot for vacationers wanting to escape to serenity. With four rooms overlooking the Trinity River, tranquility soon encompasses guests. The rooms are spacious with all of the comforts of home. Each room has a refrigerator and coffeemaker. For guests who don't want to make coffee, fresh coffee is served in the dining room each morning starting at 7:30. A hot breakfast is served each morning at 8:00. After breakfast lodgers can watch TV, relax on the deck, or walk down to the river--just steps from the inn. There are many outdoor activities visitors can take part in. Many interesting sites are within walking distance of the Old Lewiston Inn. On the corner is an antique store. Just around the bend is the Schoolhouse Museum. The school opened in 1958 when the Trinity Dam was being built. With a short, five-minute drive, you can see the fish hatchery. There are many opportunities for hiking, boating, and fishing on the lake. Visitors can also head to the dam and have a picnic. The local store even has a book exchange for those who love to read. Active guests will enjoy hiking and biking in Lewiston as they search for varied forms of wildlife. Geese, otters, egrets and dozens of other species of birds are abundant in the area. The birds are often seen competing for fish in the local waters. Flying squirrels even inhabit the area. Hundreds of plants dot the landscape including Tiger Lilies, Bleeding Hearts, and Buttercups. Many great daytrip adventures are available as well. The Trinity Alps, Whiskeytown, and Weaverville are all only about a half-hour away. These are all great excursions. Take a day to explore one and make some amazing memories. Take advantage of the inn's week-long special and explore a couple of them. The owners Jessica and David were down to earth, genuine and very welcoming. The room was clean, cozy and comfortable. Bathroom was newly remodeled. And I liked the soaps provided. The view from the porch is beautiful, and the backyard garden is well maintained. Breakfast was hearty and conversation was great. Highly recommended. read more

My partner and I had a fantastic stay at the OLI. It was comfortable, perfectly central to the quaint town of Lewiston, with a river view. Jessica and her husband are so incredibly hospitable. On our check-out day, there was inclement weather moving in. Jessica texted me to offer to let us stay a free night while the storm front passed, since our room was not booked out. It reminded me of the sort of kindness and hospitality I found while traveling Ireland, which struck me as so alien in the hustle-bustle business society all around us today. So much fun, truly a relaxing and beautiful B&B! The owners Dave an Jessica will make you feel at home. We just spent a week in Lewiston boating, fishing, and just hanging around getting to know this amazing area in the mountains of Lewiston. The food was delicious and nutritious, we even were lucky enough to have some entertainment, one night Dave, and neighbor/friend Super Dave, played their guitars, and harmonica, and sang some Country and Jimmy Buffet tunes! This place is a lovely little gem on the river! I was part of a 3 person crew working up in Lewiston for a week and we stayed here. Our rooms were cozy, clean, and the bed was very comfortable! When we arrived, Dave (owner) greeted us and gave us a tour and the rundown of the place, and asked us what time we wanted to eat breakfast. He made us a delicious breakfast every morning (even with a bum shoulder!) and was a gracious and entertaining host. I absolutely loved staying here, and can't wait to return with my husband for a weekend this spring! The setting is beautiful, the accommodations are comfy, and the owner is someone I want to give my business to, highly recommend this lovely little inn! read more

I've been here 3 times with my parents and what amazing place to spend your time! Beautiful scenery everywhere you look, and right next to the trinity river. I was able to go kayaking when ever I wanted and that was really neat especially since I don't live close to the water. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is really good. One day there was eggs and bacon with fruit salad, that was probably my favorite. Dave and Jessica are so nice and they will do everything to make your stay as perfect as they can. read more

Spend a weekend this summer at the Old Lewiston Inn. What a wonderful and refreshing time in the midst of Covid 19 and the not too distant fires that were scorching Northern Cal. Huge thumbs up. We were here for a fishing trip, so we are clearly not here for the B&B experience, yet that is exactly what we received. You have never met two nicer people who bend over backwards to accommodate your needs and make your stay feel super homey. The location is actually amazing. The river is just steps from your backdoor. I am sure that during the spring, summer and fall, sitting out back with your favorite beverage would be heavenly. We of course, were all about getting on the water and fishing. So, we needed an early breakfast and unlike other B&B's, breakfast was served at 7am and with a smile and great conversation. We are not talking a simple little continental breakfast, we are talking a hearty breakfast that went from fresh fruit, yogurt to bacon and eggs. Coffee of course. Jessica and Dave are the nicest people. They truly are concerned about your happiness. They are both so nice. And when you arrive late, there is your name card on your door and the room is lit and waiting. And when we came back to gather our gear, waiting for us were the most amazing cookies. Yes, the details do matter. Jessica and Dave are amazing. Stay here if only to meet them. One thing you might want to know ... there is not cell phone ... not a deal breaker, you can use the land line if you really need to make that telephone call. We needed a place to stay on our first time visit to Lewiston to meet with some friends in the area. My husband discovered The Old Lewiston Inn on his web search and we were pleasantly surprised how sweet and accommodating both Dave and Jessica were. I advised co-owner Jessica that we'd be in very late Friday and without hesitation she said they'd be up late and have our room ready. We feel like not only were we on a quick trip to meet up with friends but we also made some new ones. The room was clean and bed was comfy. Breakfast was filling and delicious. It really felt like we were visiting good friends as the conversation was so easy-going with the owners as well as with the other guests we briefly met. You'll sense the welcoming atmosphere here. Disappointed with the reservation process. Called to reserve 5 weeks in advance for two nights. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating, asked for my dates and said they had plenty of availability. Booked the room but two weeks later, received a call saying they made a mistake and double booked for one of the nights (Something about a complication with an online reservation website). They did offer to comp me for another night but that wouldn't work for our schedule. Seems like the double booking mistake should have been caught much earlier, hence my suggested caution when making a reservation. Now I'm scrambling to come up with a plan B. read more

My friend and I booked one night here so we'd be able to get an early start on a backpacking trip into the Trinity Alps. We knew nothing about the place other than that it was affordable, convenient to our route, and in the right area. Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. The room was comfortable and nice, the setting by the river was beautiful, and breakfast was delicious. Dave and Jessica are friendly and did whatever they could to make sure we enjoyed our time there. And they went above and beyond the call of duty: my friend's trekking pole was jammed, and he asked Dave if he could borrow a tool, and Dave led him into his workshop where he figured out and fixed the problem. Thanks Dave! Also, as a gay man, I unfortunately don't have high expectations of hospitality in many rural and conservative parts of the state, so it's worth mentioning that I felt completely welcome at this inn. I look forward to returning and taking more time to enjoy the place. read more

The old Lewiston Inn is a very, very special place indeed! My husband brought me here for a getaway weekend for my birthday. We stayed 2 days. The room was very homey and comfortable. Breakfast was awesome and Jessica and Dave are really nice people. I especially enjoyed the beautiful surroundings.....oh my, from the charming natural landscaping of the grounds to the peaceful sounds and beauty of surrounding nature. The little town made for a pleasant walk in the late afternoon. Very old and quaint. We didn't come to fish although I can see why the area would be an anglers treasure trove. We had ourselves an unforgettable adventure on Saturday by hiking nearby at the Whiskeytown national recreation area at the James Karr trailhead. The destination was Brandy Creek Falls and though the trail was mostly uphill.....WOW! So worth the effort. We visited some nearby historical sites in old Shasta and wanted to get out to Weaversville to visit a couple of other historical sites (only a 13 mile ride) but sadly, we ran out of time. In short....I wanna live here and you will to if you come for a get away from anywhere. Jessica and Dave make you feel like your visiting a friends home and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and hope to return soon. read more
