Love the differ options of stays from hotel, rustic to modern cabins to airstreams! We opt for a modern cabin with a hot tub Its in the heart of Dunsmuir easily walkable to resturant and all the waterfalls !!Definetly a must visit/stay! Staff are attentive and responsive texts! I do have some recommendation on the coffee offer at the cabin hoping there's option for more of a dark roast too and a bit more privacy wall for the hot tub !

Living room in Walnut Cabin. Large and spacious but truly mid century vintage bathroom and kitchen.

5 stars for the stylish details in upgrading this property. The choice of exterior colors, cabins named after trees with chic signage. We stayed in the Walnut Cabin. Spacious, for sure, but a bathroom, kitchen, wallpaper and flooring straight out of the 1970's or earlier. Updated area rugs, artwork and furniture certainly help to cover up the "worn in" details. Perks were the well stocked kitchenware, comfy bed, stylish decor, nice bedding and towels including the cute kitchen towel. I would suggest perusing some of the other accommodations which appear to be fully renovated. Remember that you are situated here between Highway 5, the main North/South west coast artery and the railroad if you are a light sleeper. (A sleep mask and earplugs are provided bedside) A note to the handyman, please tighten the wobbly, loose railing up to the front door.

We stayed at the Hawthorne modern Cabin at Cave Springs and loved it! The décor was modern yet cozy, with comfy beds, a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and even a picnic table with a barbecue grill outside. The property is 5-10 mins walking distance to the botanical garden, and the staff were super helpful with local tips. At night, the string lights around the grounds add a great touch. Only thing missing were the bocce and cornhole pieces, but overall it was a fantastic stay. I'd definitely come back!!!

    Slept so well here!

I chose Cave Springs for my personal retreat, a time to get away close to nature with books, journals and binoculars. During my morning walk, I saw an eagle in its nest on the other side of the river. The area has so much to explore! I stayed in one of the renovated motel rooms and loved the comfort and decor! I definitely will encourage my friends to visit Cave Springs for a comfortable, convenient getaway! Also the staff were very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to returning!

Perfect airstream lodging in between our hikes and outings to Burney Falls, Mt Shasta and in between. Great food and coffee available within a mile!! Yaks(burgers) and Bee Kind (Coffee). Cave Springs also had Live music and wonderful outdoor space with hammocks, seating, & fire pits. We had a fabulous time! Thank you!

We love this place!!! The grounds are clean, the employees are the friendliest, and the Airstreams are so cool. The price is reasonable and it's so much more fun than a boring motel room. We will be back!!

    Next to tiny home Beech

Would not recommend the tiny home 'Beech' unless you're a very light packer! As there was no closet space or anywhere to put clothes. Barely any space to even set our bags down. There was also construction going on to the side of us and overgrown brush outside the tiny home so our view was very unsightly... I think they should keep up the grounds/landscape better but that's just my honest opinion. (Especially because that's how it's portrayed on the website.) Went to the office and Oli helped us move which we were appreciative of. But in order to be comfortable in our space we had to downgrade and got moved to a hotel room which was less $. The only other option was a very old rustic cabin... I had an injury in July and had to reschedule, they kept that peak rate plus charged a $70 fee. So overall paid about $850 for 3 nights in a motel room that we drove 4 1/2 hours to get to, that was painful

    Sage
    Fumika T.

Visited Shasta for the 4th of July weekend, and booked Sage. On the first night there was a lot of ants coming up into the kitchen and I was quite worried. However we were able to get some ant spray and didn't have an issue at all the rest of the week. There is no maid service, so you have to get fresh towels or sheets or whatnot every day during office hours. The AC worked wonderfully which was really necessary in the heat. Super convenient location next to the mossbrae falls hike and a cafe and yaks. Would definitely come back next year, maybe a bit earlier!

    Airstreams

I stayed one night in an airstream here and it was very cozy! I would love to stay in one of the more modern cabins. The airstream was a little more cramped than I expected but it was a unique experience. It wasn't quite as clean as I would have liked (hair in the shower and some dishes were dirty) but it was very well stocked with soap, dishes, and pans. The check in process was very simple. I received an email with a code to use and they were very responsive by text for anything I needed. It is also conveniently located to a lot of hiking and restaurants. Great place to stop off I-5!

View from one of several hammocks in the public space

Fantastic rustic resort!! Airstream trailer with bathroom/shower, linens, Keurig machine, everything you need! Also cabins from darling tiny 1923 (restored) ones to modern cabins some with hot tubs on a private deck overlooking Sac River. Espresso food Truck with breakfast paninis every morning (except Wed.) pool! Hammocks! Fire pits! Friendly staff - all super clean and cute and comfy! I love a vintage vibe (with great coffee!) and this place is to die for!

    Garden area

Nice clean rooms, nice garden area and pool. Easy access to highway 5. Rooms have air conditioning. There are also small cabins (no Air conditioning ) you can stay in and kids play area . Dog friendly. Close to Sacramento River .

The hotel grounds are attractive and nicely maintained. It's in a safe neighborhood and there is a small to-go coffee shop across the street. A small, well stocked grocery store is just down the street. It's a husband and wife operation and we found them to be warm and friendly in any interaction. On our initial check in the wife not only quickly checked us in but clued us as to waterfalls to see, nearby restaurants she frequented and Dunsmuir 's wonderful tap water, from the same source that is bottled and sold elsewhere (the tap water is to die for). The husband was also quite helpful checking us in the second time, changing our room to the second floor, giving us some backstory on the hotel and directions to a nice Riverwalk. The dining car was a special treat, the meal overall was very good but could have been better with a little attention to detail. The rigatoni pasta dish was absolutely perfect , popping with flavor and as good as any I've ever had. We ordered a couple glasses of pinot noir with our dinner and when they arrived they were noticeably warm like 80-85 degrees like they had been roasting in the sun , not a pleasant room temp like they should be. We also ordered a large caesar salad that we all split and the lettuce was warm like it was sitting in a window soaking up the sun, plate was not chilled and even if it was it couldn't have cooled down hot lettuce, salad was light on dressing , the halved petite romaine was very bitter, i've purchased this lettuce at costco a couple times and stopped buying it because the petit romaine tends to be very bitter, i love the consistency of the smaller denser heads of lettuce but the bitterness is unpleasant .....hopefully the chef is tasting his food and can see what he thinks. My wife ordered the pasta with shrimp and loved it! My dad had the rib eye and said it was pretty good but maybe not 57$ good. The pasta dishes were 10/10 amazing , reasonably priced and generous in size , the warm wine and salad is an easy fix, it was a nice treat after a week of camping and cooking to not have to , so highly recommend giving them a try for dinner during your stay!! Mountain scenery was incredible from the campground!! The pool was a little crowded at times but we enjoyed a couple hours of pool time both days. I recently ordered the steak - $58.00 - making it the most expensive entree in the area (including the high end places in Mccloud, etc) and it had no sear. was under cooked. Had no seasoning. No sauce. The potatoes were rubber and the veggies were gross. The pork chop was similarly under-cooked and had the same sides -so same feedback. This is a major sanitation concern. IF the property thoroughly cleans and sanitizes the kitchenware between stays, this chore is an unnecessary burden on paying guests. I noticed this first hand on several of our party goers. We had a beautiful cabin that was not on the lake, but close enough to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. I see a lot of reviews had a problem with cleanliness and honestly, we did walk in to a musty smelling cabin and dead, flying things all in the bathroom, but after doing a black light inspection of the mattress, I was reasonably assured that bedbugs would not be an issue. That was really sweet of them! The room had a microwave and small fridge w/freezer. There was a small office desk with coffee and ice. Tv, a/c, heater unit. Two things to note: 1. If you use 3 ports to charge at the clock on the nightstand, it uses too much power and one of the electronics needs to be unplugged. There are wall outlets, so you'd need to use those. 2. We didn't have a shower curtain when we arrived. I thought it was one of those modern places where it's just open, but we definitely needed a shower curtain. I felt so bad showering and getting everything wet in the bathroom. Housekeeping was kind to answer quickly and gave us towels to clean up. The fan in the bathroom isn't that effective. I suspect they'll have a mold problem in the future. The light switch to the bathroom is on the outside, which I thought was odd. Other than that, we had a pleasant one night stay. We would stay here again!
