Love the differ options of stays from hotel, rustic to modern cabins to airstreams! We opt for a modern cabin with a hot tub Its in the heart of Dunsmuir easily walkable to resturant and all the waterfalls !!Definetly a must visit/stay! Staff are attentive and responsive texts! I do have some recommendation on the coffee offer at the cabin hoping there's option for more of a dark roast too and a bit more privacy wall for the hot tub !

Living room in Walnut Cabin. Large and spacious but truly mid century vintage bathroom and kitchen.

5 stars for the stylish details in upgrading this property. The choice of exterior colors, cabins named after trees with chic signage. We stayed in the Walnut Cabin. Spacious, for sure, but a bathroom, kitchen, wallpaper and flooring straight out of the 1970's or earlier. Updated area rugs, artwork and furniture certainly help to cover up the "worn in" details. Perks were the well stocked kitchenware, comfy bed, stylish decor, nice bedding and towels including the cute kitchen towel. I would suggest perusing some of the other accommodations which appear to be fully renovated. Remember that you are situated here between Highway 5, the main North/South west coast artery and the railroad if you are a light sleeper. (A sleep mask and earplugs are provided bedside) A note to the handyman, please tighten the wobbly, loose railing up to the front door.

We stayed at the Hawthorne modern Cabin at Cave Springs and loved it! The décor was modern yet cozy, with comfy beds, a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and even a picnic table with a barbecue grill outside. The property is 5-10 mins walking distance to the botanical garden, and the staff were super helpful with local tips. At night, the string lights around the grounds add a great touch. Only thing missing were the bocce and cornhole pieces, but overall it was a fantastic stay. I'd definitely come back!!!

    Slept so well here!

I chose Cave Springs for my personal retreat, a time to get away close to nature with books, journals and binoculars. During my morning walk, I saw an eagle in its nest on the other side of the river. The area has so much to explore! I stayed in one of the renovated motel rooms and loved the comfort and decor! I definitely will encourage my friends to visit Cave Springs for a comfortable, convenient getaway! Also the staff were very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to returning!

Perfect airstream lodging in between our hikes and outings to Burney Falls, Mt Shasta and in between. Great food and coffee available within a mile!! Yaks(burgers) and Bee Kind (Coffee). Cave Springs also had Live music and wonderful outdoor space with hammocks, seating, & fire pits. We had a fabulous time! Thank you!

We love this place!!! The grounds are clean, the employees are the friendliest, and the Airstreams are so cool. The price is reasonable and it's so much more fun than a boring motel room. We will be back!!

    Next to tiny home Beech

Would not recommend the tiny home 'Beech' unless you're a very light packer! As there was no closet space or anywhere to put clothes. Barely any space to even set our bags down. There was also construction going on to the side of us and overgrown brush outside the tiny home so our view was very unsightly... I think they should keep up the grounds/landscape better but that's just my honest opinion. (Especially because that's how it's portrayed on the website.) Went to the office and Oli helped us move which we were appreciative of. But in order to be comfortable in our space we had to downgrade and got moved to a hotel room which was less $. The only other option was a very old rustic cabin... I had an injury in July and had to reschedule, they kept that peak rate plus charged a $70 fee. So overall paid about $850 for 3 nights in a motel room that we drove 4 1/2 hours to get to, that was painful

    Sage
    Fumika T.

Visited Shasta for the 4th of July weekend, and booked Sage. On the first night there was a lot of ants coming up into the kitchen and I was quite worried. However we were able to get some ant spray and didn't have an issue at all the rest of the week. There is no maid service, so you have to get fresh towels or sheets or whatnot every day during office hours. The AC worked wonderfully which was really necessary in the heat. Super convenient location next to the mossbrae falls hike and a cafe and yaks. Would definitely come back next year, maybe a bit earlier!

I stayed one night in an airstream here and it was very cozy! I would love to stay in one of the more modern cabins. The airstream was a little more cramped than I expected but it was a unique experience. It wasn't quite as clean as I would have liked (hair in the shower and some dishes were dirty) but it was very well stocked with soap, dishes, and pans. The check in process was very simple. I received an email with a code to use and they were very responsive by text for anything I needed. It is also conveniently located to a lot of hiking and restaurants. Great place to stop off I-5!

View from one of several hammocks in the public space

Fantastic rustic resort!! Airstream trailer with bathroom/shower, linens, Keurig machine, everything you need! Also cabins from darling tiny 1923 (restored) ones to modern cabins some with hot tubs on a private deck overlooking Sac River. Espresso food Truck with breakfast paninis every morning (except Wed.) pool! Hammocks! Fire pits! Friendly staff - all super clean and cute and comfy! I love a vintage vibe (with great coffee!) and this place is to die for!

    Garden area

Nice clean rooms, nice garden area and pool. Easy access to highway 5. Rooms have air conditioning. There are also small cabins (no Air conditioning ) you can stay in and kids play area . Dog friendly. Close to Sacramento River .

The dining car was a special treat, the meal overall was very good but could have been better with a little attention to detail. The rigatoni pasta dish was absolutely perfect , popping with flavor and as good as any I've ever had. We ordered a couple glasses of pinot noir with our dinner and when they arrived they were noticeably warm like 80-85 degrees like they had been roasting in the sun , not a pleasant room temp like they should be. We also ordered a large caesar salad that we all split and the lettuce was warm like it was sitting in a window soaking up the sun, plate was not chilled and even if it was it couldn't have cooled down hot lettuce, salad was light on dressing , the halved petite romaine was very bitter, i've purchased this lettuce at costco a couple times and stopped buying it because the petit romaine tends to be very bitter, i love the consistency of the smaller denser heads of lettuce but the bitterness is unpleasant .....hopefully the chef is tasting his food and can see what he thinks. My wife ordered the pasta with shrimp and loved it! My dad had the rib eye and said it was pretty good but maybe not 57$ good. The pasta dishes were 10/10 amazing , reasonably priced and generous in size , the warm wine and salad is an easy fix, it was a nice treat after a week of camping and cooking to not have to , so highly recommend giving them a try for dinner during your stay!! Mountain scenery was incredible from the campground!! The pool was a little crowded at times but we enjoyed a couple hours of pool time both days. The host in the campground Frank and his dog Reno were great !! We really enjoyed our visit and wouldn't hesitate to stop in again, a lovely place to spend a couple days !!! Thank you!!!Cheers !!

We've been going to railroad park resort since the 1990's and eating there every time we come through town - 2-3 times a year. They used to make a great steak, with a deep dark sauce with mashed potatoes and veggies. I recently ordered the steak - $58.00 - making it the most expensive entree in the area (including the high end places in Mccloud, etc) and it had no sear. was under cooked. Had no seasoning. No sauce. The potatoes were rubber and the veggies were gross. The pork chop was similarly under-cooked and had the same sides -so same feedback. I looked for a manager to talk to and couldn't find one. So I messaged them on facebook and they told me I could come by any time and talk to the cook. Where was the cook the night I was there? I was told there was no manager to talk to. I only eat their when vactioning and can't just pop in. I live 5 hours away. If they're going to raise their prices from $40 to $60 for a steak - they need to up their gave. Instead they dropped the ball. The food isn't worth it and they don't care.

This is a major sanitation concern. IF the property thoroughly cleans and sanitizes the kitchenware between stays, this chore is an unnecessary burden on paying guests. If they do not reclean them, then the health and safety of incoming guests relies entirely on the honor system and the cleaning habits of previous occupants. It is incredibly unsettling to think the dishes we used may not have been professionally washed or sanitized. The cabin itself clearly got a "landlord special" French doors were stuck and wouldnt open. Had to call maintenance to get them fixed. The refrigerator and cabinet drawers overlap so tightly that opening the fridge makes the drawers to open, and vice versa. The fridge door is already dented, clearly from this problem. The blinds are old, broken, and don't close all the way. So we had to wake up with the sun every morning, spiderwebs in the ceiling corners throughout the cabin. For the price charged to stay here, guests should at least be guaranteed professional cleanliness. Unfortunately, this property missed the mark on all counts.

I think you should offer golf cart transportation between the resort and the golf course. That would prevent a lot of people from taking the chance and driving that short distance while intoxicated. I noticed this first hand on several of our party goers. We had a beautiful cabin that was not on the lake, but close enough to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. I see a lot of reviews had a problem with cleanliness and honestly, we did walk in to a musty smelling cabin and dead, flying things all in the bathroom, but after doing a black light inspection of the mattress, I was reasonably assured that bedbugs would not be an issue. To me that's a big one. I highly recommend this location if you're planning a wedding at the golf course.

So let me take another tack and make sure that this is the place for you. First off, Mountain Meadow Resort isn't for everyone. If you can't be unplugged and off the grid, this place isn't for you. Seriously, there is no wi-fi, your smartphones are only useful as cameras because there is no cell signal, and the generator that provides electricity only runs from 6:30am to 11pm. Second, this place is remote. The resort is most definitely in the WILDerness. In the four years that I've gone I've come across black bears and been within spitting distance of a rattle snake, rattle going off, coiling and ready to strike. The nearest medical facility is 2 hours away by car. And that's not counting the fact that you could be half a dozen miles into a hike away from the resort and your parked car when you get injured. Then you must be adequately intrigued as to why people go and keep coming back to this wonderful place. And if the you're not scared off then you will likely fall in love with this place as I have. Read on if you want my attempt to add information you might be hoping to gleam from reading these reviews. This is a family run camp. Decades ago a group of families bought the place and ran it together. Their children now run the resort and while you're there you'll likely see the next generation starting to help out as well. Staff all have a direct connection to the resort via family, being visitors in years past themselves when they were younger, or being recruited by one of the first two categories. What that means is that your initial visit feels like you're an interloper at a family reunion, but on repeated trips you begin to feel that you too are part of the family, because you truly are. That sentiment permeates through and is felt not just by my wife and me but by my kids as well. I would love it if my kids worked here when they're older and if I could spend extended time helping out after I retire, whenever that is. Days can be spent on hikes, strenuous or relaxing. Obviously the former will reward you with amazing views. Unlike, say Yosemite, you could do your whole hike and never come across another group. If you do, it certainly will only be a handful. There are lakes to swim in and vistas to take in. The resort is positioned so that you can make a day hike where others will often have to backpack in and out. Sometimes you'll be tempted to backpack yourself and maybe stay over a night or two but what always draws me back is the food - homemade and delicious. Dinners are amazing. Lastly, the kids love it because of the independence and being outdoors. The "kids dinner" before the "adult one" is as much a highlight for the parents as it is the kids. More importantly my tech savvy kids being raised in the heart of Silicon Valley have no qualms with Mountain Meadow being a "screen free" place. And that alone makes our annual trip worth it.
