Totally love this place! The new remodeling is amazing and you can see that it was a "labor of love". The rooms were clean, well stocked and so comfortable. Each had its own environmental control so we could have the temperature as we desired. My dear Dad planned this trip two years ago with Asheley's help. She was very accommodating! She hosted us so well and pointed out all the details of the house that we needed to know for our stay. The house is close to various places on the island and right behind the grocery store. There aren't enough words to express how great our company weekend was. Everything was PERFECT, down to the ammenities provided, the location, the Inn was clean and beautiful, the kitchen had every utensil you would need to cook, plates, glasses, bowls, pans, toaster, etc. The beds were so comfy, and the bathrooms were beautiful. There were 11 of us and there was plenty of room. The King suite has a smaller room with doors, perfect for one person or a teen. Just can't say enough great things about The Old Turner Inn! Very cute and charming bed and breakfast in Avalon/Catalina Island. My bf booked this place for the weekend and we got the "Seashell" room. Kathleen is very warm and friendly and it shows in her business. She emailed him prior and sent info on how to get to the island, check in, potential activities, recommended places to eat, etc. Check in was at 2PM and there was a note, welcoming us when we got there. Every morning coffee is made at 7:30, complimentary breakfast follows at 9am. Every evening at 5PM, there are wine and snacks, which is really cool. We caught the tail end of it on Saturday. Drank some wine, had some crackers and cheese and worked on a puzzle that Kathleen made herself. Rooms are clean - they provide nice toiletries, beds are big and comfortable. Staff is also very friendly and nice. We met a lot of great people staying here and because they had the breakfast and wine hour, you get to chat and get to know everyone. On our last day, we wanted to do a hike, but the start of the hike was a mile away. My bf tried to call a Lyft but it just showed as searching on the app. He asked Kathleen about the situation and she said the ride shares were probably not allowed on the island and offered to drop us off at the start of the hike, which was SUPER nice. read more

Great stay. Kathleen & Roger took wonderful care of us. The B& B is a few blocks up from the water, in the center of town and could not be more perfectly located. Breakfast was very tasty and I felt like I was with family. The room itself is adorable, we had the King suite and it offered a little sunroom with a day bed for our daughter. There were sweet journals around and a spot of either sherry or port offered complimentary. The decor was nice, it is an older building but super cozy, like staying at an organized and loving older relative's home. They are cool and easy going. It is an especially GREAT place for diver's or people who have their own activities planned ( outside of package island co stuff). I plan to come back soon. They will be building across the way, which is a bummer because it will obstruct the view, but not a big deal because the central location, lovely care and thoughtful management more than make up for this. I took my wife on a surprise trip to Catalina island for her 50th birthday, neither of us had ever been to Catalina before so I spent 3 months prior planning the whole trip. Kathleen not only booked us a room in her family's B&B she selflessly helped me to plan a lot of other cool things to do for the surprise birthday in Catalina! We got the King Suite for this event and it was way worth it for the week on the island, The room was amazing and we had a great time. the bed was very comfortable the room was bright and airy and the shower was hot. Carmen the housekeeper was also great, the room was always clean and made up when we came back from our adventures. They definitely did not disappoint! The daily breakfast and afternoon wine and snacks was a very nice touch as was the little carafe of Sherry in each room....nice touch guys! During the breakfast and evening snacks, Kathleen would tell us a lot of the rich history of Catalina island her family has been there since before the Wrigley family. super cool way to make the trip more fun. What a great experience! Just finished our stay for the Fourth of July. There were three couples and we decided to do a B&B in town. Had never stayed at one before and Kathleen, the owner, made our stay impeccable. What a great place. First off, the reservation process was so smooth. They don't have an online system, but Kathleen, the Innkeeper, gets back to you very quickly and will work with you on everything. We booked for one night and arrived at 11:30am on Saturday. Our room was ready to go and we were given access. We had the Queen Suite which included a fireplace and sitting room. The room was so elegant and everything a B & B should be. At 5:30pm everyday, there is a wine and appetizer time downstairs so you get to meet the other guests and mingle. On this particular night, the owners stopped by. Both in their 80s, Jeanne and Bill were so nice and shared some hilarious stories. We were one of the younger couples there but it was a blast. We were given tips on what to do and where to eat and since the owners are all native to Catalina, they really know what they're talking about. Breakfast the next day was excellent as well. Everyone eats together downstairs and there were eggs, sausage, croissants, fruit, yogurt, and their homemade granola that we ended up buying a bag of. Our boat wasn't leaving until 4pm, but we were able to keep the key to the room and have access to it all day. What a wonderful weekend! read more

This place was amazing. Me and my girlfriend had been dating for 3 years and went to Catalina this past weekend to celebrate. I wanted to do something fun and different, yet relaxing, and the old turner inn was the perfect place to stay. It was a very quiet atmosphere with only a few rooms in the house. I stayed in the seashell room. Every room was a very good size for a couple and had a fireplace and firewood to light during the night. Every night people who stay in the bed and breakfast go down for some complimentary wine and appetizer. I didn't really care much for the appetizer, but drinking wine and talking to the guests and owner was great about their lives and the history of the island. Not to mention the breakfast in the morning was amazing! I didn't think much from the description of the breakfast that it was going to be as good as it was, but an egg dish with fruits and vegetables, and yogurt with their home made granola and orange juice was one of the best breakfasts I've eaten in a long time. I personal recommend buying a bag of their granola. It is pretty pricey, but it is worth it. We recently had a LOVELY time at the Old Turner Inn over a busy Catalina weekend. The Inn is such a beautiful place and our bed and accomodations in the Garden Room were very comfortable and quiet. The appetizers and breakfast were wonderful. The location was perfect as a central jumping off point to other activities. Kathleen was gracious enough to let us tour the Inn's artwork and share family stories centered around the Inn. Gina brought us up to date on Avalon happenings. It was one of the best weekends we've had in Avalon and we've been coming to Catalina for over 30 years. Just like many of the other reviews-I almost didn't want to post one because I would like to keep this a little low key! This is BY FAR the BEST place you can stay in Catalina. You are just a few steps from everything, and the complementary breakfast that came with our room was amazing! The prices are extremely competitive for a private, quiet stay with the best hosts. You also get beach towels, info about activities and tourist attractions, puzzles to do on your down time, and wine in the evenings! Wine and breakfast come with only certain rooms but trust me, it's worth it. The other hotels we checked out were extremely expensive, and upon arrival to the island, they were very crowded, tiny, and had no privacy whatsoever. I think my husband and I are finally warming up to the idea of B&Bs. My father-in-law loves to gift us with stays at B&Bs or other interesting tours, so that is how we came upon the Old Turner Inn. The innkeeper Kathleen was so warm and friendly, right from the get-go: over the phone! After I first called to find out available dates, she quickly called me back with a discount on a two-night stay as an incentive (we thought about only staying one night). With so much to do on Catalina Island, we couldn't turn her down! Kathleen was not only friendly, but incredibly attentive - recommending that we walk from our arrival at the pier to the inn. With the rolling luggage, it was a quick trek up the main road, then a left turn at the long pier (with the turquoise buildings on it). It was certainly a lot faster than waiting in the long line for cab rides! Once we arrived, she let us know about an upgrade to another room that was available, and much larger than the one we had booked, so we decided to stay in the Queen Suite. It had french doors leading to the front of the inn, and a sun room with rocking chairs and a day bed! It was so spacious and cozy at the same time. Breakfasts were delicious both mornings, and I have to agree with the other reviewers. The home-made granola was my favorite! Kathleen was so accommodating, and I loved when her dad, Bill, would stop by to chit chat and reminisce about the old days on Catalina! I got to play the piano, and complete a puzzle... and we weren't even there most of the time! With so much on our agenda, we were out and about most of the day, but once we got back to the inn, it felt just like home. Kathleen is great about recommending activities and restaurants, and she is fun to sit and chat with as well! Oh, and don't forget to make it back for wine & hors d'oeuvres at 5:30. We stayed at the Old Turner two nights while on our foray to Catalina. I choose it based on the yelping and think we were steered absolutely right. As first timers to Avalon, we really appreciated Cathleen's, innkeeper/owner extraordinaire, ability to make us feel at home will giving us a bit of an insider's insight to things to do in a short time. Easy to talk to without her being too pushy, we ended up loving all of her recommendations. Comfy room, wonderful food, convenient location. Wifi, movies if you want them. My husband recently returned from Catalina Island after a 4 day/3 night stay at the Old Turner Inn. From the moment we stepped foot inside the Old Turner Inn, we felt extremely welcomed. We stayed in the Garden Room and it was just lovely! It definitely had a romantic and relaxing feel to it. Our bed was very comfortable. The breakfast and evening wine with appetizers were just fantastic!!! Christa assisted with everything the first 3 days of our stay, then Kathleen was present on our departure day. Both ladies are extremely knowledgable and personable. Being in our early 30s, I really loved the warm grandmotherly feel that Christa delivered. Honestly, the only negative thing I have to say was when the Inn ran out of the complimentary in-room Harvey's cream sherry and temporarily replaced it with a different brand, 1 day before our departure. I was excited to have been introduced to a new wine and I just had to purchase a bottle of that Harvey's cream sherry upon my return home. :) I highly recommend staying at the Old Turner Inn! I cannot wait for my next visit. Oh and the Old Turner Inn is in a FANTASTIC location. It's only about a 5 minute walk from the Catalina Express pier, so we had zero problems walking a few blocks pulling our luggage. Right across the street is also where one would board for inter-island tours, so it was great eating breakfast at 9:00am, and making the 30 second walk to meet for our 9:30am tour. The trolley to get to the Wrigley Memorial is also very close, about 100 yards away. It's $2/per person to get to the top and we just walked back down. Nice walk! Only takes about 10 minutes to walk back down to the inn. read more

My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary in the summer. The owner was great and informative. The breakfast was lovely as we ate with other patrons. The room was bigger than I had imagined and the owners offered complimentary liqueur for the room. Overall, the room was clean, big, and comfy. We had a great stay at this welcoming B&B. I was initially a bit put-off by the decor - which is heavy on the oak paneling, rocking chairs ,lace and family knick-knacks - but soon realized it was part of the hominess of the place, almost like you are staying at a relative's beach house. What a fantastic stay we had at this very charming B&B! Kathleen was incredibly personable, giving us the full history of the house as well as providing tips for fun and cuisine. We even met her 98 year old father, who was sharp as a tack! We stayed in the Seashell Room which was very nice, and the tiny decanter of Sherry with two little glasses she left for us was a nice touch! The 5:30 complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres were great (as were the breakfasts) and a good time to meet other folks also staying at the Old Turner. It was during this time that one of the guests played the beautiful 1928 Steinway piano in the living room. What a treat! Down the street is The Lobster Trap, arguably the best and freshest fish on the island. Also close by is The Marlin bar, a semi locals hangout with bands on the weekend. First of all we ran into Christa (our Inn Keeper) in Long Beach at the Catalina Express terminal! ...she had picked up some fresh flowers for the B&B and as we began to chat we'd figured it out that we were all go to the same B&B! (Small world, right?) The Old Turner Inn is better than "as good as it gets". Delicious home cooked hot breakfasts, incredibly clean, extremely accommodating. My husband and I are both disabled and I'm in a mobility scooter. They have a special location, off-street and out of the way, to park it, and easy access to an outlet for charging. The garden room was charming. Very homey feel. I felt like nothing was too much to ask; so friendly! And only a block from the "main drag" - far enough for quiet, close enough to be right there! The Old Turner Inn was originally built in 1929, and made into a B&B in the '80s. Christa the innkeeper has been there 10 years and runs the place like a ship - all ship shape! The living room includes a piano to play, antiques to look at, and plenty of seating. Rooms are smallish, neat and clean. The summer rate of $150 is reasonable (2 person room) but they only offer Queen and King beds, so you'd better be close to your roommate, or you will be soon. Room includes a Really nice (not too early) and FULL BREAKFAST at 9 a.m., and APPETIZERS with wine (or soda) at 5:30p.m., and the Inn makes and sells their own delicious low-fat and high-taste granola (included at breakfast, and I took home a couple of bags). Rooms are named according to the decor, such as the Wicker Room, the Seashell Room, etc. A small decanter of sherry and candies are included in the room, which is a sweet thought (unless you're a near tea-totaler like me). NOTE: As I look back on my comments, this place may be a challenge for staunch non-drinkers, of course, or those on the wagon. There are only a few rooms (it used to be a house, after all), so call early for a reservation. The innkeeper requests that you let them know if you will not be joining them for breakfast and appetizers, so plan ahead to join them (it's nice - you get to meet the other guests, too). We could have sworn that there was a view when we reserved the room, but perhaps that was our confusion, or maybe that was the one room we did not see, so ask about that, if a view is important to you. (On the other hand, you can get out and SEE Catalina - so what's a room view, eh?) The Old Turner Inn is located a 1/2 block from the main streets of Avalon, which is Very Convenient, but can also be a bit noisy. Fresh cross-breezes and ceiling fans help cool the rooms. (I'm not sure why they put "Old" in quotes on the sign - perhaps because it IS old, but doesn't look it? hmm) Nice place for a romantic getaway! read more

A B&B is the way to go! Other then for Vegas, we will never stay at a hotel again. As for Catalina - we will be booking The Old Turner Inn again. First off, they were really patient with me. I had to reschedule my dates twice! A week before our trip I received two emails informing me of what neat events were going to take place which I thought was so sweet. Christa, our Inn Keeper, was so sweet and made an AMAZING breakfast. The first morning we had Eggs Benedict, bacon, toast, perfectly ripe sweet melon, granola, and yogurt. The second day she made an awesome blueberry bake with fruit syrup, pineapple, sausage, granola and yogurt. We loved the feeling of being at home. Christa even offered to provide beach towels. I let her know we had brought our own and she suggested to use hers so we didn't have to go home with wet towels. She was so sweet and thoughtful. It was only a hop, skip and a jump from the beach and my husband and I had so much fun for his 30th birthday surprise. read more

We had a great time here and the Old Turner Inn was well worth the money. We eneded up staying in the King Suite and we couldn't be happier with our choice. The bed was very comphy. The patio area that connected to our room had a couch that turned into a bed, and I could see this being useful for children. It even had two doors connecting the patio room and the main room so that you can close the doors if you wanted to share the room or put your kiddos in it. We kept the doors opened and the windows opened to enjoy the ocean breeze. Crista the Inn Keeper was amazing. She made us delicious breakfast each morning and was so kind. She knew a lot about the island and was very accomidating. She gave us tips about where to go and what to see on the island. We wanted to go snorkeling and she even gave us some bread to feed the fish. We enjoyed the wine and cheese time. Really tasty treats and good company. We brought our bikes to cruise around the island. There was a side gate to the Inn that we stored our bikes while we were not out riding. If we make it back to Catalina we will be staying at the Old Turner Inn. If you go here you must try the homemade granola! So yummy, and they sell it for $5 a bag if you can't leave with out some. This place was perfect and just what my girlfriend and I needed. It's not far from the harbor, yet just far enough to enjoy some quiet time if you want it and get away from the other tourists. The house itself was nice and you can feel the history of the place as soon as you walk in. There's plenty of pictures to look around at, and the decor was nice. The room itself (Seashell room or something like that) was well kept, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean and you really feel at home and relaxed here. We didnt see too much of the Inn Keeper, though we did see her the following morning as she prepared an awesome breakfast. And yes, that granola all the other reviewers are talking about? It really is that yummy. It was Halloween weekend, so I'm sure she was out partying like the rest of us.. so it's understandable that we didnt see much of her. She did prepare everything and left us a note for when we got there, so she did a perfect job of making sure we didn't feel lost or anything. Clean room, comfy bed, delicious breakfast.. (and probably the only place on the island that doesn't require a minimum 2-night stay)... this place is a winner. The best thing about this place is service and Kathleen and Gina were amazing hosts. My wife and I stayed here one night and came away impressed with this place, its location, the hosts, and the home made granola. The reservation email asked us to confirm our arrival time and when we did (9.30am), Kathleen replied back to tell us that the room was not occupied the previous night and so we could check in and settle down (the official check in time is at 2pm). On the day of our departure, we were told to come and go as many times as we wanted and make use of the living area to relax while we waited for our boat back to LA. They also offered to serve us wine or hot tea - all of this, hours after our check-out time. We stayed at the Wicker room and it was comfortable. I think this is the only room in the B&B without a fireplace (if that's important to you), but that didn't make a difference to us. The location of Old Turner Inn is great and is very close to the shoreline. If you're planning to take any of the tours, you'll be happy to know that the Discovery tour plaza is less than half a block away from this inn. Breakfast included an egg dish, their awesome homemade granola, croissants, sausage, yogurt, orange juice and of course, coffee (hot tea was an option as well). All of this was served around 9am and when we requested a slightly earlier start to breakfast time (since we had a tour at 9.30am), Gina was more than accommodating. My husband and I came here for our week long Honeymoon in the Queen Suite.This Bed and Breakfast was an excellent place to stay. Kathleen (the hostess) is the sweetest person you can meet, and she has tons of stories to tell. Ask her where the best places to eat are and she'll tell you. Her breakfasts are delicious and filling every morning. She does a small appetizer and wine/champagne in the early evening which is a great way to meet some of the other guests staying in the house as well. You are walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, and pier. You're right across the street from the mini golf course which is a fun trip.
