We really loved staying at the Atwater. The lobby is absolutely stunning, great space if you have to meet your group, because there's plenty of places to sit. They offer water, both regular and cucumber. They also have a great luggage holding service so if you needs to check out before your boat leaves, you can have them hold your bags or if you arrive before check in. The rooms are very nice and feel very clean! The bed was big and comfortable, what I didn't like was have no chair in the room, I like to be able to sit not on my bed, but the bed, king size, was so big, there's no room for a chair. The sink is also separate from the toilet and shower, which has benefits, like I can get ready while my husband showers, but it made the bathroom feel very empty, also there were no counters in the bathroom area, so you couldn't set down tampons or your phone or clothes anywhere in the room except on the closed toilet lid, which isn't my favorite thing to do. May finding a small side table or something to put here would be really helpful. In general it is beautiful and very comfortable. I will definitely be back! read more

I would never stay here again, and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Our experience made it very clear that when unexpected situations happen, this hotel does not care about the people staying with them, they only care about sticking to their policies, regardless of the circumstances. My husband proposed to me on January 7, 2025, so this trip to Catalina was incredibly special and something we will remember forever. Unfortunately, during our stay, a major storm hit the island. The weather was so severe that all ferry service was canceled on both January 7 and January 8. The waves were crashing all the way up to the shops, most businesses in Avalon were closed, and there was literally nowhere for guests to go because it was so windy. When we found out our ferry had been canceled, we simply asked if we could have a late checkout since no one could even travel to the island due to the storm. The hotel refused. It made absolutely no sense, there were no incoming guests because the ferries weren't running, yet they still wouldn't show any flexibility or compassion. Instead, we were forced to sit in the hotel lobby for hours waiting for ferry service to resume later that day in hopes that it would. I completely understand that hotels have policies, but exceptional circumstances call for common sense and a little empathy. This wasn't a personal scheduling issue, it was a dangerous weather event that stranded every visitor on the island. The lack of compassion and customer service we experienced was incredibly disappointing, especially during what was supposed to be one of the happiest and most memorable trips of our lives. A hotel isn't just judged by how it operates on a normal day, it's judged by how it treats its guests when things go wrong. Unfortunately, this hotel failed that test. We left feeling like just another reservation instead of valued guests, and because of that, we will never stay here again. read more

2nd time we've stayed here. First time in a suite 2 years ago was terrible! We decided to give them another chance. Worst $950.00 (2 nights) we've ever spent! Regular king room this time, no suite. First problem...no one at the boat dock to pick us up & transport our luggage as promised. Next...No coffee maker in room. A mile walk from the elevator to our room. I've had larger rooms on a cruise ship than this room. We checked in at 12:30 & were told by Brian he would expedite our room cleaning as checkin was at 4:00, but he would put a rush on it. Yay!!! Our friends were handed their keys as their room was already ready. Yippee! Oh WAIT! When they opened the door to their room, people's luggage, shoes & backpacks were still in the room! Hence, we toured the town for a couple of hours & had lunch. Other couple was notified their room was ready (again). We all returned about 2:35. They got their keys as did many other new guests checking in. Brian said our room was still not ready. It's now 3:15, we're sitting in the lobby waiting, & more guests are checking in...our room is still not ready. At 3:40 we appeal to Arthur who ignores the promises made by Brian & basically insinuates "too bad, so sad." We finally receive our keys at roughly 3 minutes before 4:00pm. I asked for the manager's name as I was curious why numerous other check-ins received keys after we had been there for several hours. Zero customer service. Lies from Brian. Maybe Brian wanted us to "grease his palm" in addition to the $950.00 we already paid. After we finally got to our room & laid down to rest, the manager calls. I was too tired & too frustrated to talk with him (Chris). Bottom line...it's obvious they don't hire enough help to turn the rooms over quick enough to accommodate new arrivals OR ??? A 4:00 checkin is absurd for any hotel & especially an overpriced one! Public area carpets are filthy. Carpets in room are worn. Never again!!! Keep searching! The ferries were thankfully running the next day and we caught the 9:50 one. We upgraded to the Commodore Lounge which included drinks and snacks. The hotel picked up or luggage at the ferry and transported it to the hotel to arrive at 12 noon. This was a first for me... S we pulled up I was transfixed by the beautiful shoreline and properties that rose up on cliffs before us. Oliver at the front desk was very accommodating since we had a change of what we wanted as far as beds go. The hotel had 3 floors and we both got the 2nd. And both of us had rooms right next to the stairway's. Our room was the tiniest room I'd ever had in my life we kept bumping into the corners of the bed frame, ouch. We moved things around so we had a place to open our suitcases. The continued noise from the guests upstairs was very, very unpleasant, it sounded like they were walking around in ski boots. My kids had the same issue but not as terrible as ours was. If you stay here be sure to book the 3rd floor!! I'm not kidding here. The housekeeper Claudia was super helpful and so sweet she was able to get me band aids and alcohol because I cut my toe. I made sure to take care of her! We played games down in the lobby at night and found it to be warm and welcoming with at least 5 areas for 5 or 6 to gather. They included 3 bottles of Evian water and 2 mini bottles of Perseco in each room which was a nice touch! I would stay here again but only on the 3rd floor! read more

Beautiful hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff. I wish we could've stayed more than one day. It's a very small room, but perfect for a short stay on the island. I've seen a lot of reviews about the walls being thin, but I am a light sleeper and had no issues. I really appreciated the birthday drink voucher they provided! And we lucked out with an ocean view! Room 230. Avalon King A very well maintained older hotel. I highly recommend staying here. The rooms are very clean and tastefully decorated As a couple we travel a lot domestically and internationally. The staff at this hotel are probably the most efficient and gracious I have come across in all our travels. We had a problem with our booking and they bent over backwards to solve the issue. The problem had nothing to do with them it was an error on our end. Oliver D and Lily could not have been more helpful and efficient in assisting us. The room was extremely nice. The only suggestion I would make is in regard to the small window that is by the door connecting to the other room. The window is right by a street light. There needs to be a black out blind on that as the light shines through the shut blind The bed was extremely comfortable. The shower had wonderfully hot water with great pressure. The hair dryer was fabulous as it had power and dried the hair quickly. Often hairdryers in hotels are so lacking in power I often wonder if it is worth the effort. This is a beautiful hotel so my husband and I booked a trip for our anniversary. We arrived early in the day and were happy to see that the lobby looked exactly like the photographs. The staff told us that they would send us a message when we could get into our room so we went on our merry way, oblivious to the inevitable disaster awaiting us at Hotel Atwater. Around 2 I needed to access my stored suitcase (it gets cold in Catalina). I checked on the room which was not ready yet and the young man working told me that our room had been upgraded. When we got into our room expecting an upgrade my husband was shocked to see that they had actually downgraded our room. We reserved a 2 bed view room and were given a single bed with a sofa couch. My husband does not sleep well and paid extra to get his own bed. I sent him to discuss getting the room we reserved. He struck out so I went back down and observed the cleaning ladies finishing a perfectly clean and unoccupied room with 2 beds on my descent. I approached the very young woman who has been trained to lie with a straight face. She would not back down and refused to give us the room we had prepaid for even when I pointed out that there was one available. I asked why she could not give the "upgrade" to the other party. She finally admitted that they had been overbooked and that our room was not an upgrade. I mentioned that California protects hotel guests and that they were required to find us a comparable room even if it is at a different hotel. They downright refused to do that and knew that the last ferry off of the island had already departed and we were not able to leave the island. They played hard ball. Our options were to get that room or no room. When I finally spoke to the hotel manager she was unapologetic and we ended up having a restless night. I judge a business on how they manage challenging situations. Hotel Atwater gets an F in customer service. The young staff were rude liars and did not take my prepaid reservation or my well being seriously. I was taken aback by management's comment to my review so I am now adding a little more information. There was a system error and the booking was wrong so I find it ironic that they mention that the reservation was for one person. The web site defaults to double occupancy and the charge does not change whether it is single or double occupancy. The fact that I had paid more for the extra bed would indicate 2 people were staying and we certainly did not override the default 2 guests selection to only 1 guest. I suspect that was part of their system error. Additionally, the cost to have the second bed was an additional $50 added to the cost of a single bed room and they deducted only $75 from the entire bill so I did not receive a 20% discount like they state, I ended up with a $25 discount. Mind you that is not the outcome I wanted, I spent 45 minutes of my vacation talking to them trying to get 2 beds, not a discount. By the time I found out about the room fiasco it was after 2 pm and the island was at capacity. My cell phone battery was drained and I had no way to review last minute hotel rooms on the island for the same night. In addition, in California, SB 644 (which enacted California Civil Code § 1748.81-§ 1748.84) provides specific, mandatory consumer protections for hotel reservations made on or after July 1, 2024. This law protects consumers and the hotel must offer a reasonable substitute of a room equivalent or better at their expense at another hotel if they breach the contract on a prepaid room. I asked them to find a room at a nearby hotel and they refused (that is what I meant when I said they were playing hardball in the original review). Essentially management offered to cancel my reservation because they breached the contract and did not want to adhere to SB 644. But the final insult is that they suggest that a miniature sofa bed is equivalent to a bed is disgusting. They knew it was our anniversary and to suggest that one person sleep on a flimsy sofa bed in a separate, tiny room that had 2 windows that do not close completely on a freezing night in December really shows their lack of customer service. Did they think we would draw straws to see who would sleep on that? Maybe a game of rock, paper, scissors? I am sorry but blaming the victim is not a good look and for that I am removing the second star from my original review. read more

What went well? Everything went well! In fact, BEYOND well! From the moment we got off the ferry, it was on! Actually, the ferry ride was awesome. Purchase the Commodore tickets, super worth it! Walking into this hotel, I was literally transported back in time. A time of super decadence (minus any form of moral decay, of course), exclusive inviting atmosphere, superb cleanliness, choice decor and of course flawless and friendly customer care. Out here for work and I gotta say, this hotel is fantastic. The rooms, a little on the small side but no complaints from me, were still immaculate and cozy. It's definitely not the Marriot or the Hilton, in fact, there is no "chain" anything on this island which is totally rad! Transported back in time when "corporate" America did not exist, well, at least it felt that way. Loved it! read more

My husband and I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend and it was such a pleasant little getaway. We got a large king room facing the street, which gave us views of some of the businesses and trees. It was clean and enough space for the both of us, as we didn't spend too much time in the room. Our stay included two bottles of free prosecco and a $20 food and beverage credit for a selection of restaurants, which we ended up redeeming at Avalon Grille (great dinner option!). TV had cable and Netflix options, bathroom was spacious and bright with good water pressure in the shower. Bed was really soft and comfortable, and we slept well through the night without hearing disruptive sounds from any of the surrounding rooms or street. Our check-in was seamless and everyone at the front desk was really nice and accommodating. Our ferry arrived early in the morning, so we dropped our luggage off at the hotel, which they stored safely until our room was available. Complimentary cucumber water was also available in the lobby. The hotel itself has undergone a renovation in the last couple of years and the exterior and lobby is very well decorated and charming. I love the fun artwork in the hallways and the women's restroom in the lobby is one of the cleanest and cutest I've seen with playful cat printed wallpaper. The Bistro downstairs was great to grab a quick bite and drinks in the morning. My husband had an iced coffee, I had an iced matcha latte, and we shared the great white shark burrito. Very satisfying. The location was perfectly central and an easy short walk to everything. Pricing was not bad, compared to some of the other hotels that were more expensive and in need of an update. We really enjoyed our stay and we had no issues whatsoever. If you're ever in town, I highly recommend this hotel, as we've already deemed this place as our go-to stay whenever we visit. read more

I loved this hotel! The lobby is beautiful and the staff beyond helpful! They really do go over and beyond for guests. There's coffee in the lobby in the early morning hours before the Bistro opens and regular and cucumber ice water at all other times. Our room was a spacious King that even had a small rolling table that came in handy for catching up with some work on a laptop. There was complimentary Prosecco and water in the room. The bed was quite comfortable and the golf cart noise was blocked out when we shut the windows. Since we were on the second floor and had some very heavy footed people above us that was a little annoying but otherwise no complaints! I would definitely stay here again! read more

I called the hotel directly a few days before our stay to book our room, an Avalon King, for my 26th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, I wish I would've made different arrangements for this special occasion. When I called, I made sure to tell them it was my anniversary and I wanted it to be special, they offered a bottle of champagne. The hotel is nice. The lobby is clean and inviting, and the staff at the front desk were actually pretty professional. The room themselves aren't that great and if you get a room that faces the parking lot it's really not that great. They have such beautiful views towards Avalon Bay and I got a view of the parking lot. I could've went downstairs and complained, but what's the point they kinda already ruined it. Our room was 320 and the sink drain slow and the fixtures are loose,, there's no place to open up your suitcase other than the bed, and there's no ironing board or iron in the room as advertised. I called the front desk for an iron, it took two hours after I tracked down the housekeeper and asked her for one. She was very helpful. For $500 a night you expect a little better than this. read more

Just left today after visiting Catalina for three nights, all staying at Hotel Atwater. It's a recently remodeled and extremely conveniently located hotel in the middle of the tiny city of Avalon. It's a very tiny block away from Avalon Bay and the centerpoint of downtown. It's actually a quite large hotel, larger than it looks from the front so they have a lot of different rooms available. Overall I would say our stay was a really nice experience. The staff was very polite and the air conditioning in the room was pleasantly strong. The bed was comfortable and each day we got free Evian water, which was very convenient. I will say that the rooms are a bit small but for the price and the hotel level, not enough to complain about, I understand that real estate on Catalina is very limited. We also didn't really have a view of anything but we were hardly in the room as is. I would stay at Hotel Atwater again in the future and would suggest it to others as well. read more

Hotel Atwater is a good size hotel located in the heart of Catalina near the harbor and Casino. The rooms are city small but modern and comfortable. Front desk staff were helpful and the ability to have baggage held before checkin and after checkout was incredibly useful. This is a more expensive hotel so we came here for a birthday. Our booking included a daily $20 credit to the hotel bistro which is a small coffee stand with good coffee and simple breakfast foods open part of the day near the lobby. The hotel and room were clean with nice linen, comfortable bed, great water temperature and pressure, and reliable air conditioning. It's been 40 years since I stepped foot back on Catalina Island. I'm sure it has changed. Having to research hotels for a girlfriend getaway, wanted something nice and with great review for the price. I'm super happy and the rest of the girls were happy. We have a wonderful 1night stay, where service was exceptional from the start. The check in was great and since we arrived at 10:00 AM, but check in isn't until 4:00 PM, we were delighted to have a text sent letting us know our room was available at 1:00 PM. Perfectly situated in the middle of the shop and so many sweet shops to choose from, we found it nice walking distance to everything. Rooms were clean and with only 3 floors, we were happy to be on the top floor, so we didn't hear footsteps above us. I won't be waiting another 40 years, so my next visit will definitely be staying here again. read more

I stayed in two Junior Suites at the Atwater Hotel (April 22-23, 2026) and unfortunately the experience didn't match the rate or the description. Both rooms had noticeably dirty carpets, non‑functional coffee makers, and furnishings that didn't feel suite‑level. I reached out to management the same day and received a partial refund, but no apology, no name in the signature, and no personal follow‑up. Our Avalon King room was small clean and relatively quiet. The hotel is centrally located. There was no chair in our room. In retrospect, no chair was listed in the room amenities. The lobby is quite attractive. Since we didn't have a chair in our room, we sat comfortably in the lobby. Curiously, when the local junior high or high school let out, the far end of the lobby became a gathering place for young students. The students were fine but a little loud as one would expect. The front desk staff seemed oblivious to the noise. Small room, poor bathroom lighting, no chair, no in room coffee, but wait, free coffee from 5:30am to 7:00am. What??? read more

During my visit, the price was reasonable for the experience, and the location was perfect, everything was within walking distance. The service here is excellent. Very nice hotel and in the middle of everything Catalina has to offer. Hotel staff was nice , shout out to "LILY". I really liked they did have a fridge in the room. Direct TV on the television so there were a few channels to watch when we were winding down. Stand-up shower so no tub. Loved the complimentary chocolates and Champagne since we were here celebrating an anniversary. I would stay at this hotel again if there are rooms with bathtubs. I really wanted a bath my stay here but no biggie. I really liked the shower heads in the stand up shower. The lobby area was nice too. Very spacious with table charger outlets for your devices . Also the hotel had a nice selection of your classic board games. After checking out , if you need them to hold your luggage or bags so you don't have to haul them around for your last adventure before leaving the island, they got you covered. Great little boutique hotel in Catalina Island. I attended a wedding on the weekend- they let me check in early at 1:30, received a $20 credit for F+B and used it at Port 24 restaurant. Check in was pretty smooth, room was very small but sort of clean. The corners of the room had dirt and residue, they could do more in housekeeping. The air conditioning unit in the room was very loud and hard to sleep. Also, I arrived back at the hotel about 11:30 pm, and most of the guests on my floor arrived at 12 am, talked very loud walking down the hallways. The hotel should remind guests to speak softly when walking back to their rooms in the evening- some guests were very loud, woke me up as well as the loud air conditioner. read more

The most important thing for me is the cleanliness of the bed.. I always check to see what the condition of the mattress is before I lay down..The Hotel Atwater has ALL their mattresses with encasement zipped up coverings. I'm not talking mattress pads. I have never been to Catalina but did plenty of research before booking our 2 day staycation with my mom and 3 boys. The hotel is gorgeous. Absolutely beautifully remodeled. The complimentary water bottles and champagne was a cute touch too! HUGE HUGE SHOUT OUT to Lily at the front desk - and Matthew with the luggage / bell hop. Matthew was at the boat dock collecting luggage/bags for Atwater guest. What a great feature to NOT have to drag those around the island as we ventured out around town to maximize our vacation time upon arrival. He had a great personality and made my kids laugh as we joked about him "losing my sons iPad" when I gave him our bags :) My son literally asked me every hour if our bags were safe with his iPad HA! Lily was there upon our check in later that day. She was a saint. She had tons of helpful information to help with our stay .. she was friendly and absolutely so genuine. She stood out over any other front desk clerks that we encountered during our stay. We had a minor hiccup with my mom not feeling great when we woke up on our final day and Lily was quick to offer accommodations to help ease our check out process. I truly hope someone in management sees this review and recognizes the gem of a human they have representing their business. Lily you were wonderful! Thank you. A+++ experience at this elegant hotel! My family of four (two kids 10-12 yrs old) stayed for 3 blissful nights and we fully analyzed and vetted the other surrounding hotels before we booked and we were steadfast in our solid decision of Hotel Atwater. The hotel has recently been refreshed/remodeled, but still remains quaint and elegant with all of its old world charms from the Wrigley era. It feels like you're walking back in time, but it's fully modernized. The rooms were very clean and I personally LOVE having daily cleaning services. Also, how can you not love free Prosecco in the rooms? The renovation the rooms under went were very smart because they're extremely efficient now for these very small bedrooms. Everything has a little nook or cranny so you can unpack and enjoy yourself and not feel like your bags exploded everywhere. The hotel staff was courteous & helpful and accommodating when we needed to stow our bags, or get directions, etc. We also did not know about the $20 food & beverage credit per night until the very end of our stay and the front desk was happy to give us the credit after the fact, which was nice. We definitely felt we got our money's worth at this stately hotel and we are hoping to be back. read more

Oh wow what an incredible stay!!!! I'm type a clean freak and this place was clean! So grateful! The room was great, exactly what you need nothing more nothing less. Bonus I got room 240 and had a view!!!!! Unexpected but was super appreciative! Luck if the draw since there was 28 of us getting our own room. Did not want for anything. Housekeeping was professional and again wow on the cleaning! So grateful they are thorough. Hotel is close to everything! Such a prime location. Everyone but one worker was incredibly nice. Like seriously these workers are so friendly and caring and the one that wasn't really wasn't rude or mean, just in comparison she wasn't as willing to help. I met a lot of workers while there so one out of 20 incredible workers is still 5 stars. Oh and dropped my quiche and a worker (manager I think) asked if he could take it, he got me a new one! And it was so yummy, how thoughtful. The blonde lady with a strong accent, apologizes I'm so bad with names) went above and beyond at making us all feel welcomed. A treasure she is. The lady with curly hair who worked with her and booked my semi submerged submarine tour. She was so great as well. So many great people at this hotel. You will be cared for. Oh and bed was so comfortable! Thank you. Slept so well. Curtains shut out light well. Hot water was hot. Couldn't get the sprayer to work but didn't ask anyone for help either so not their fault. Zero brand soaps and I appreciate that. The soaps were great. I don't have a thyroid so this was a bonus to have soap i Can use. They get your luggage to and from the boat. Again thank you. I just can't think of anything negative. Heat and a/c worked well. I even checked the tv just to review it and all good. Fridge worked well. We came here during Memorial Day weekend and we were very excited to stay here .We checked in smoothly and then everything went as wrong as it could go The room was extremely dusty and it was obvious they haven't cleaned it .Our son is 2 year old and he still naps at lunch , but the staff was so loud every time ! I understand they have to clean and put the vacuum on , but the screaming and the loud conversations were so unnecessary( also you see a do not disturb sign at the door , shouldn't you not scream for the other maid to bring you a broom from the top of your lungs for the next 5 minutesI mean use a bit of judgement and common sense! It's a very beautiful and very clean hotel, but I think the most important thing is the service. From the young man who picked us up at the ferry and helped with our luggage, to the front desk staff and even the housekeeping team, everyone was incredibly kind There were even two little bottles of wine in the refrigerator! This island is gorgeous and the hotel is excellent! The only thing I would suggest is adding room service, because after a certain hour, you can't find food anywhere . My fiancé and I were invited to a wedding this past weekend here on Catalina. This was one of the associated hotels with the venue and I'm really glad we went with this choice. The front desk accommodated me immensely with an incorrect charge and corrected it quickly. We actually asked around and locals said this is one of the nicest hotels as of date. They put a lot of money into a renovation project, and it was beautiful. It's really up to date. It came with complimentary champagne and water. Your first night you get discounted restaurants and a really informational sheet. Transportation via taxi was actually really inexpensive, but everything was pretty much walking distance for us. The view was very much a wall, but when traveling here you definitely shouldn't stay in the hotel! My only complaint: our room did not have a microwave to heat up leftovers and we could not find one! read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for the weekend and we had such a great experience. We were greeted by Chris P. upon check in and he was extremely accommodating. He put our name down for early check in and made it happen. Chris also informed us of all the activities we could do on the island and recommended some good restaurants to eat at. We are appreciative and want to say that we think this is a beautiful hotel. The room was clean, beautiful, and in a perfect location, walking distance to everything. We will definitely be coming back to stay at Hotel Atwater. read more

Such an easy and welcoming atmosphere while checking into this hotel. I got to the island early so walked over to the hotel from the ferry. It's not far it's a nice way to get a feel of the town and view the shops. After all I was here to run the Avalon 50k. Ok I walked into the hotel and was greeted with smiles and welcomes. I said I was early and gave my name and to my surprise my room was ready. What a great day it turned out to be. So instead of taking the elevator I walked the stairs. I was on the second floor room 201 which is a double queen room. I walked in. The room was clean, bright and had a great view of the street. I was happy. The bathroom was clean, bright also with a window. The shower was pretty much updated. Ok so I dropped all my stuff off, threw some stuff in the safe and read the amenities. At this time 01/09/2025 I got 2 complimentary little bottles of wine per day. A $20 credit to use at the cafe downstairs or other establishments. I used mine at the brewery around the corner. Beer is life. ok the only issue was because I had windows facing the street the bar across the street was a little noisy in the evening if you go to bed early. I just closed the window and problem solved. Ok shout out to all the staff. They were super friendly and helpful. I'll be back very soon. read more

I love this hotel!! My friend and I were having a girls trip and originally planned to stay at the sister property, Pavilion Hotel, during Thanksgiving break, but since my friend and I needed to change our trip date, the Pavilion was closed for the season and the person helping me with my reservation said the hotel Atwater was available. After our 6:00 am rocky boat ride on the Catalina Express, we walked about 5 minutes over to the Hotel Atwater. (I recommend a roller suitcase if you don't want to carry your luggage from the pier). The lobby is absolutely lovely - big windows, airy and welcoming with an island feel. Staff was helpful and allowed us to store our bags until we could check in. I was told the hotel was recently remodeled. Our room was beautiful and beds were comfortable with plush pillows. Outlets have USB ports so you can charge your devices. There's an in room safe in the closet as well as complimentary waters and sparkling champagne in the room fridge to enjoy! We also received a $20 credit to use for dining at the Bistro at the Atwater (or other restaurants that were unfortunately closed during our stay). Tom at the front desk was the ultimate encyclopedia of Catalina. He was so nice and able to answer all my random questions about the island and help us make reservations for a tour. Staff: Truly impressed by the service. Casey helped us at check in and she was great. Welcomed us with a warm greeting and smile. Shared all of the important details for our stay including the hotel's perk of $20 daily at several restaurants, including the on site coffee shop, and two complimentary champagnes in the room. Quality: This hotel is absolutely beautiful. Very clean, well decorated, bougie which I like, and the quality of hotel I really aim for. The only issue we had was our room was a little slanted. Wouldn't have bothered me, but my wife is sensitive to such things. Due to this we asked if they had another room. We were embarrassed to ask for such a reason, but Lily was so sweet. She reassured us that it was no problem for her to try to accommodate. Unfortunately, they did not have any other rooms, but she offered to switch us to their other property called Pavilion Hotel. Her handling of our request was truly the highest level of customer service. Value: The pricing was fair. The room itself was really tight but was very nice and modern. Truly a beautiful room. Overall: This hotel is gorgeous and the type of place I like but I'm not sure if I can return due to the slightly slanted room. May be just this room or the hotel I don't know. Either way this place is 5 stars so the average person would have no issue with the small slant of the room. read more

I came here for work during offseason. Price was very good and I found that the overall design was more modern than other nearby options. I appreciated that there were some tasteful perks. They conveniently provided two bottles of Evian water and single serve champagne bottles. They also offered a $20 credit for a handful of restaurants/brewery although only one was an option during the offseason. They also have access to a small adjoining gym/PT which is convenient. Location is good even if Avalon is pretty small, and the bed and sheets were comfortable. A convenient refrigerator and decent TV with some premium channels. The few knocks that I can think of are: the small room and lack of a lounge or desk chair with back support (if you need to work or just want to sit) slight hallway noise which is mostly drawn out by the AC, and the front desk attendants not being friendly (or super fake, sarcastic friendly if you know what I mean). read more
