The staff was wonderful and very friendly. Pros: coffee and tea was great. Prices are very reasonable. I had the American Burrito, and it was big and delicious. In my party, one person had the chicken salad and breakfast potatoes. It is a savory type chicken salad on a croissant, and she was very pleased. Another had the American Breakfast, other than the toast being slightly burnt, the rest was good. The not so good: The pesto chicken sandwich was reported to have dry chicken. Not really too good. They were out of several options at the espresso bar, and it took a bit to get the orders. We tried the Mexican Vanilla cupcake and the Wedding Cake cupcake. The worst part let's just say eating this food did not treat my digestive system well! There is no telling how long the food had been sitting in back. Ehhh just like every local breakfast place in Waco, overpriced and lack of quality in the food. The food was cold, the espresso machine was out of order, and no milk for regular coffee. My omelet was the perfect portion size for my liking, but way overpriced. The bacon served in the omelets is the same "bacon" every other local restaurant puts in their omelets. Came to visit Waco while our daughter was attending orientation at Baylor. Stayed at the Hilton across the street and walked over to check out the Olive Branch. Food was just ok, nothing worth writing home about. My husband LOVED the coffee however!! He came back every morning for the next 4 days while we were there to get a cup to go. We came right before a rush so we never saw our waitress again after the initial order. We had to wave people down to get more drinks and our check. Needless to say, I am neither for or against this place. We will go back for the coffee and maybe try something other than breakfast next time we are in town, otherwise we may just hit up Starbucks and call it good. read more

We had really high hopes for this. The menu looked good other people's food looked good but after we ordered that's where it went all down hill. A lot of the dishes were bad and only a couple were good. That's sad. Mine was the good dish. All the bad food had about 1-2 problems maybe even more. I'm going to go through all of the bad dishes problems. 1. My moms salad had a hair on it when the other salad came out the chicken had no taste, was cold, and was chalky. The dressing was also just vinegar but not bad. 2. My cousin got Pesto and it was ice cold. She still ate because we were biting off our legs because we were so hungry. 3. My other cousin got a sandwich and it was HUGE. 4. My grandma got a chicken salad sandwich and she did not like she says and I quote " I don't like it and it has no taste. 5. My aunt liked her food with no problem. 6. My other aunt did not like the dressing and it wasn't that bad. Overall the food was pretty ok but mostly a bad experience. This spot has real potential but the lack of process and operations will prevent me from coming back. Sunday Brunch. Our waitress did not write our order down (there were four of us and she got mine wrong). Food took a while to come out. When it did, it was only lukewarm(strike 1). Worse, there was no silverware so after she dropped the food off at our table, she hurried away before we could tell her. The food sat there getting colder. We finally got her attention and told her we needed silverware. She brought us napkins and forks and disappeared again. We needed knives (I do not usually use a fork to spread my butter on my toast) so instead of waiting, I went to the front and asked for the knives. I was told "we don't have any that are clean". Really? 10:30 on a Sunday morning? I was offered plastic knives.(strike 2). The coffee was really great...too bad 2 of the 5 canisters were empty when I went up there the first time and last. Finally, our waitress returned to ask if everything was tasting ok? Well, by that time, we had finished. So regardless of the answer, it was too late(strike 3). The manager asked me if everything was ok when I paid the bill and I was honest with her (certainly not hostile). She discounted our bill by $10 and apologized. Ok ambiance, tables look out of date. The BIGGEST problem with this restaurant is the cheap processed food. The bacon is precooked same as Mc Donald's or Deny's (pob from Walmart). The sausage is frozen instant patties. The Eggs look like fast food scrambles. Ordered the Avocado toast (actually a croissant) with eggs and fruit and a pancake. Girlfriend had the American breakfast. The only think that was served at the correct temperature was the water, coincidentally it was cold like the rest of the meal. They have great coffee bar but the best flavor was cold coming out of the carafe. Both mine and my girlfriends eggs were cold, the pancake was lukewarm at best. My avocados and croissant was served with hard and cold with sliced avocado on the side. Additionally the whole meal was overpriced for the Waco market. I was so excited to try this place for breakfast because I was told they have a great coffee selection but do not plan on returning. read more

Olive Branch is a great name for a restaurant that does not have great food. I recently went to Olive Branch hoping for a tasty breakfast with a friend. When we arrived, around 8am, we were the only ones there. Slightly awkward for the size of the new building. After reviewing the menu I realized that everything had feta cheese on it. This really bummed me out because it shows a lack of creativity. There are so many different types of cheese, for them to only rely on feta to give it an extra punch is sad. I ended up ordering an omelet, with feta on top. That came with fried potatoes, also with a nice sprinkling of feta. When our food arrived, it seemed that the 'feta' that they are so proud of is actually queso fresco....what a horrible alternative. Unfortunately my feta and tomato omelet is not enough for me to return. Although the customer service was good, the food was not. read more

I ate there this weekend and thought it looked like a quality place. Turns out I was wrong. The waiter was rude, the food was so-so and I didnt like that you have to get your own coffee from giant serving pots. They had 5 different kinds of coffee but two of them were empty. It was a really busy time so I can understand that, but when I told them about it and checked by 10 minutes later, they were still empty. My family and I came here after going to Magnolia Farms because the menu looked good. We had to wait in a line that was seat yourself, which I thought was odd for how packed they were, but the menu didn't disappoint. The trouble came when our food came out - the quiche had no crust and was basically a glorified omelette, the Caesar dressing was either not the correct dressing or the worst Caesar dressing I've ever had, but those were minor problems compared to the other problem we had. My cousin is unable to eat dairy because she is currently breastfeeding and her son is allergic - she ordered a salad but forgot to ask for no cheese on top. When it came out with cheese, she admitted to forgetting to order it without cheese, explained the situation and requested a new salad. Our server informed us that she didn't think they could make another salad but they could pick it off, and my cousin said that she could just pick it off herself if that's all they were going to do. The server took the salad and came back a few minutes later, with what was clearly the same salad with the cheese taken off the top but still plenty of cheese below the surface of the meal. We told our server that we would just pay for a new salad if that's what it took to get one without cheese, then waited several minutes for a new one to come out. When it finally came out, my cousin said that it was delicious but not worth the hassle. After all of that, the restaurant did in fact charge us for both salads. Next time we come to Waco, we won't be coming back to the Olive Branch. read more

Had heard a good review from a friend about breakfast here. My daughter and I both ordered their french toast, advertised as "French bread with our special custard & powdered sugar." It was served with plastic butter and syrup pkgs. After a fairly long wait ( only five other people in restaurant) it arrived slightly warm and would not melt butter. No special taste. Just plain french bread sliced and cooked in egg wash. No custard of any type within or on the side for either of us. Portion size was the only good thing. We each received five slices. Another confusing thing was both a breakfast and a brunch menu online with no idea what day/time which served. We were there at 10:30 and got breakfast menu. Drink prices not on menu but coffee $2 for bottomless cup. Good blends available for self serve. Atmosphere nice and quiet. read more

I had the trio salad for lunch. It came with chicken salad, Caesar salad and fruit with dip and a croissant. The caesar dressing was really watery thin and tasteless. The chicken salad was just ok. The fruit was really bad, but the dip was very good. It's disappointing to get a croissant at a place like this that is hard as a rock and cold, but that's what I got. My daughter enjoyed the tomato soup and grilled cheese. The service was good and that's why I gave 2 stars. I have had some good lunches in the past here, but it's been a while. When it first opened it was very good and much care was put into every order. I've taken a break from going when it started going downhill. I decided to try it again today and was really disappointed. I hope the poor reviews make the owners rethink some of complaints and how to improve. Came for lunch. Chicken pesto sandwich was good, but I wish I'd been warned about portion size. Absolutely huge. Also could have done with some of the bread cut out as my jaw hurt after eating half. My mother got the quiche which was crustless. It really was a wet omelet. She said the flavor was good, but wouldn't have ordered it had she known it wasn't really quiche. She also ordered a side of potato soup which never arrived but she was still charged for. The waitress was lackluster but the gentlemen that seated us initially was cheerful and kind.
