This place is very much like Panera Bread, but better because it's local. They have a wide variety of soups, salads, and pasta dishes, and they have several combo options so you can have a little of everything. Everything I had was light and fresh, and I liked how many vegetarian and healthy choices were available. I personally love the Olive Branch and am a little shocked it only has 2.5 stars! I've only ever had good experiences here. The food is awesome with big portions and very reasonably priced. I always bring visiting family and friends here and they have all loved it too. Staff is really friendly and accommodating. Sometimes it can get crazy busy and food might take a bit longer than usual (which is to be expected when there's a line out the door and the place is packed) but it's worth the wait! Even if you don't have time to stay and eat, I highly recommend grabbing a coffee. They are all a specialty blend by the owner and it's some of the best drip coffee in town! March 4th, a Tuesday morning...Walked in at 9, place was kind of busy. All the empty tables were dirty, went to the counter to get napkins to clean one off and the young guy at the counter was freaking out! Seriously.. freaking.. out. He mumbled... "only 2 people working.." Something was obviously going wrong but we weren't in a hurry so we sat down to talk, I eventually got up to look for menus. When our waiter got to us at 9:30 we both ordered a croissant sandwich and waters. He forgot our drinks until 10, no biggie... but at 10:25 we got up to leave. Neither one of us had ever done that before but it was absolutely ridiculous. I understand that things go wrong, people don't show up, etc. but you should at least communicate what is going on with your customers. It would have only taken a few seconds. read more

Nice menu. They offer a variety of coffee, but it was barely warm. I ask our server about getting some that was hot. He kindly brought me another cup. It it was cool also. Our food tasted good but was also barely warm. Maybe warmed cups and plates would solve this. read more

It's a cute space, and the coffee was good. However, the food took a long time and was subpar. I ordered the veggie mijas, which was described as scrambled eggs with vegetables, tortilla chips, salsa, and a side of breakfast potatoes. The breakfast potatoes were literally a cut up baked potato. I've never seen anything like it at a brunch place before. The rest wasn't anything special. My mom ordered the spinach wrap. It was pretty good, however, she ordered jalapeños on it. They forgot the jalapeños, but when she informed a waitress she insisted they were in the wrap. She had to hunt down another waiter. He brought out a little cup of jalapeños, and we were charged extra for them which was a little odd. If I went again I would just have the coffee or maybe try the bakery. read more

My adult daughters and I visited this place on a Sunday after church for brunch. There was a good crowd, so we expected to have a good meal. We were very disappointed. It was a sign indicating to seat ourselves. We found the one clean table of the three that were empty. The wait staff was busy but didn't appear to be overwhelmed. Our waitress came by with menus a couple minutes later and took drink orders. When she came back with a water and two orange juices, she took our food order. I asked about what teas they had as the menu didn't specify. She said she would bring me the tea menu. I was hopeful I would be able to get a well-made chai if they took tea seriously enough to give it its own menu. When she finally returned with it after a second request, I was saddened to see half the dozen or so options were crossed out, including the chai. So, maybe the food was why the place was full. We waited patiently, enjoying our time to visit. A different server came with two of three orders: an order of pancakes and an order of scrambled eggs, sausage, and pancakes. The pancakes were cold and served with cold butter. My order of a Southwestern Wrap would be right out, she said. Several minutes later, a basket was set before me. When I see chipotle tortilla, I expect flavor if not some heat. I haven't had a more bland tortilla. The eggs were just above room temperature, chilled by the cold peppers and onions. The eggs were quite obviously not fresh. Since everything on the menu with egg is scrambled, it is clear they are using bottled liquid egg product. The only flavor came from the jarred salsa. It took the waitress a while to return after I gave her my card. I usually tip 18% for decent service, 20%+ for excellent service and food, but for this bad experience, I tipped less than 15%. Stopped in this restaurant while visiting from out of town and regret to say we had a horrible experience. The service was unbearably poor and slow. We waited 39 minutes for an order of two kids sandwiches, and one adult soup/sandwich order. The napkins were not stocked; the straws were not stocked; the tables were not cleaned. The kids meals were incomplete; they were advertised to come with a cookie, but did not. The cashier was also incompetent, and had to enter our order multiple times. Their wheat bread was noteworthy, but it was hardly enough to make up for the otherwise bad experience. We will not return. read more

We were so disappointed with our experience. After waiting too long for a waiter, we waited 45 minutes for our food. We ordered sandwiches and a salad! The salad greens were limp and the grilled cicken was so dry. I left 3/4 of my sandwich. We had to ask for silverware and napkins when our food was finally delivered and our drinks were never refilled. We arrived at 1:15 so the restaurant wasn't that busy. Next time we'll order from the food truck at The Silos. read more

The last few times my family came to town we had all anticipated on trying the Olive Branch Cafe. My mom came to town yesterday and we decided to go ahead and try it! We were seated ourselves upon arriving and immediately got our drinks ordered. The waitress was very friendly and got us our drinks quickly, but the food wait was WAY to long for the items we ordered (of which we knew each of these items were not specifically made for each order). Our food finally arrived 45 minutes to an hour later and seemed to look very good however there was issues immediately. The spinach salad my mom received was completely inedible due to being over-dressed with caesar dressing. Although I love caesar dressing, even on my salad the dressing was VERY strong and took my breath away. Also, my chicken salad sandwich was drenched in caesar which made the bread soggy. Mine and my mother's favorite item we ordered was the french onion soup which was the best soup I've ever eaten, it was not strong but not bland either. I think Olive Branch charges too much for what they are serving. Do not go here thinking its going to be cheap, we left paying too much to be unsatisfied. read more

On the hunt for some delicious cuisine that can't be found in the dining halls at Baylor or in any fast food chain I decided to visit Olive Branch. Olive Branch is a local cafe located in downtown Waco. I visited the restaurant with high expectations due to my roommate's obsession over the restaurant. The return has a purplish-pink theme, rustic look, with plenty of tables and chairs and a large dessert display case. Upon my entrance, into the cafe no one came to greet me. After a few minutes, a very sweet waitress greeted me. I explained to her that I was coming in to place a to-go order and she directed me to the front counter. Her less friendly coworker took and rang in my order quickly making no attempt at conversation. Before going to Olive Branch I looked up their menu online I noticed they offered breakfast, brunch and lunch options. Their sandwiches ranged from $6-$10, pancakes starting at $6.25, soups $3 and up. The restaurant is definitely not the cheapest choice for someone living off of a college student's budget but, I decided that if it was the excellent food my roommate raved about then I would give it a try. I decided to get the The Chicken Pesto Sandwich and a Dr. Pepper. I was expected to spend some money, but I was shocked when my total came out to around $14... However, my wait time for my food was relatively short and I waited no longer than 10 minutes for my meal. When I opened up my sandwich box I was expecting a hot sandwich. The bread was not toasted, the vegetables were not cooked but the meat, cheese, and sauce were piping hot. The sandwich was served with a pickle and lays chips. In my opinion, the sandwich wasn't amazing but it was decent and filling. I wouldn't put Olive Branch at the top of my list for recommended restaurants around Waco, but it's definitely not at the bottom. All in all, it was an okay experience. read more

Olive Branch is one of my favorite places in Waco! The atmosphere of Olive Branch is laid back and chill, they always play great music and have plenty of seating where you can enjoy your meal with friends, family or by yourself. The staff is super friendly and nice, they are always willing to help give suggestions or correct any orders. The food is always delicious, I have never had a bad meal there. The desserts at Olive Branch are to die for! They make the best cupcakes, cake balls and cookies in town!! I never have a meal there without indulging into one of their sweets:)! Olive Branch is very reasonably priced, especially for college students! I never spend more than $10 for a fantastic and filling meal. I love Olive Branch and I continue to introduce my family and friends to it when they visit Waco. Olive Branch is a top restaurant in Waco and a highlight for any trip made to Waco! :) read more
