So, I had nausea medication, no chemo....I had chemo pills, no nausea medication. My first appointment was in January. It is now April and I finally can start my chemo pills. After 2 1/2 days I was experencing terrible side effects. I previously had a double by pass and now I had all the symptoms of a heart attack. This happened several times in the next 2 days. I called the office 4 times, leaving messages and asking for a call back. To this day (6/3/2026) no one has ever called me back. I ended up in the Emergency Room. I changed medical groups so I could change doctors.

September will be here before I know it. Im super excited and nervous only because Im a chicken about being put to sleep Ill be honest lol. Id like to mention that my eyes and face were performed under local and mild sedation, yes I was awake very calm and I felt nothing. My recovery was also painless. Since this was during the covid pandemic, I was allowed to go in only for the initial consultation and for her first infusion. They have a great covid protocol in place, so we never felt nervous about her visits. During the initial consult, Dr. Reese spent a long time with us, explaining in detail about the cancer and about what to expect during the treatments. He drew pictures and wrote key words on some sheets of paper we were able to take home and study. We felt he really cared about her outcome. They have a web portal for communication that allowed us to submit questions and usually had Dr. Reese or a staff member get back to us that same day. They were also great at working through insurance issues with us. We never felt overlooked or ignored, and my wife said all of the front office staff and nurses were kind and helpful. Unlike restaurant reviews where you end it by saying "I can't wait to come back!", well, I'll say we do feel comfortable continuing to see Dr. Reese for follow-ups, and should a similar need arise in the future, UCLA Health And Dr. Reese will likely be the first place we ask for!

No long waits I was called in the back within 5 min the Doctor came in about 15 min later. Everyone seems so nice so far. The equipment was up date. This is the type of doctor office I'm use too! Two things I don't like so far is 1. I was told by the Doctors nurse I can not refuse to have a student come in. I have never ever heard that before as I have in the past and recently refused. I've normally been asked if it's ok if a student comes in but here you have no say so! & they don't even have the decency to ask if it's ok! I really don't like that and it may make me change offices again because I'm really not comfortable with that. I understand what a student is and does but I still don't want it. 2. I left a message 2 days ago to have the nurse or Doctor call me to clarify something important about my baby I'm still waiting on that call! It really worried me & I could not sleep. So I took matters into my own hands and found out the information about my baby was not the case as I paid for a 3D ultrasound. I can't begin to tell you how devastating, disappointing, re-traumatizing, and stressful my…read moreexperience with UCR Women's Health and Riverside Community Hospital was on June 29th. I came in for a surgery at 12:00pm and was hooked to a painful IV for six and a half hours while fasting since 11:30pm the previous night, only to have to cancel my surgery because I was told that it would start at 8:00pm, start later than 8:00pm, or get cancelled entirely because of an emergency. Before coming in, I was told a completely different story: that I would wait only two hours, have my surgery, recover for an hour and a half, and go home at around 4pm. Instead, they completely diverged from that schedule and kept me starved of food and deprived of water for about 19 hours before I left and never received care. If I had gotten my surgery at 8pm, I would've been deprived of food and water for over 22 hours. I followed pre-op perfectly, was anxious for days, had blood taken from me twice (I have a fear of needles), went through a ton of paperwork, waited for months, and shifted my schedule and classes around for my surgery all for nothing except torture. On top of being neglected at RCH and told unprofessional things like "she's our baby" (which infantilized me in front of Dr. Nahas) and "this isn't a hamburger" (to dismiss my valid questions about the wait time), I was never given an apology for the horrible experience I was subjected to and was expected to end it myself. When the extreme physical and emotional stress from waiting in the hospital for hours and dealing with unprofessional staff sent me into a trauma response, I started sobbing and panicking. As a result, nurses told me that they would call my anesthesiologist to ask for anxiety medication, but they never did. Staff at RCH didn't even give me my anesthesia consent papers. Nobody cared that I had prior medical trauma and that I was being brave by even stepping in the hospital room at all. Instead of feeling respected for being a responsible adult who is taking control of her future and feeling empathized with, I at times felt looked down upon or ignored. There are a few things that make me feel like I'm essentially being deprived of surgical care through UCR Women's Health. First of all, I haven't officially been promised that I would be first or second in line instead of third or given surgery at a reasonable time of day if I reschedule. This makes me extremely hesitant to do so. I don't want to end up in another horrific situation. Second of all, Dr. Natalie Rivera told me on the very day that my surgery was supposed to happen that she wouldn't be available until months later--specifically August, a month when I'll have a massive student workload, my post-op driver is out of town, and I have to move out of my apartment. I should be able to reschedule for July since my surgery didn't go as planned. I even called UCR Health for rescheduling during office hours and nobody picked up the phone to help me. Someone should have called ME for rescheduling after my surgery got ruined. I am extremely disgusted by the way I've been treated and am still trying to receive the surgical care I need, even though I have to go through the whole miserable pre-op process all over again (likely somewhere else at this point). Science forbid I end up giving birth to a child one day who gets abused in foster care because nobody gave me the sterilization I wanted. Note: I felt throughout all of this that there was underlying misogyny. Even first coming into the hospital, a nurse assumed that my surgeon was a man and one of my consent forms used the pronoun "he" for surgeons. The person who told me that surgeries aren't hamburgers was a man who has no idea what it's like to be this vulnerable as a young woman. Being called a baby as someone who acts differently when under stress also came off as misogynistic and ageist.

However, today was my absolute last straw. A large number of the office staff here are unknowledgeable, unprofessional and immature. 1. I've called on several occasions asking questions, and the person on the phone constantly puts me on hold to ask someone else, then returns back to the phone with some regurgitated answer. I've also received answers/responses over the phone from one staff member, and then receive a totally different answer/response in person at the office. 2. At one point, I called and asked about submitting a continuity of care form, and the girl had me slowly enunciate "continuity" over the phone and spell it out for her so she could ask someone else about it (what it is, what to do with it, etc). From that interaction alone, I felt less than confident with the office staff handling my questions, forms, file, etc. 3. I received call that my continuity of care form (that was filled out, signed and submitted by this office and approved with an authorization code by insurance almost 2 months ago) was not being recognized and that my final appointment (mind you I'm in the middle of treatment and do not have another doctor to take over my treatment yet) cannot be fulfilled. I asked the staff member about the continuity of care form, and she said "We're not submitting those for anybody." Completely dumbfounded, I explained that my form was already submitted from the office and I have approval for this last visit before I see a new doctor (because I'm in the middle of blood tests, ultrasounds, and prescriptions). I received zero empathy from the staff members regarding my concerns of why the form is suddenly not being recognized. She was wholly unprofessional with her responses. My overall experience was subpar here, at best. Staff can truly make or break your experience, and in this case, completely broke all of my interactions with this office. The only positive comment I can confidently leave about this office is that the chairs in the waiting room are comfortable.
